QUOTE(ymsg @ May 18 2005, 07:00 PM)
Exactly. Everything on Fullmetal is based on something that actually meant something to someone in midevil times. That always blows me away. I love it, there's always something, about the arrays, the alchemy, the characters, Edward in general, that always seems to throw me for a loop.

My thoughts exactly Ymsg.*thumbs up* happy.gif This is some what of a random fact I suppose, but did you know that Edward's name basicly means "Prosperous guardian" and Al's name basically means "Noble and ready"... I found that rather interesting. Its pretty fitting, in a strange sort of way. LOL wink.gif
ymsg
Does it really? That's very suitable for both of them. *thumbs up* (love your sig, btw. Hot! )
BellatrixAngelofKyo
Thanks Ymsg! laugh.gif I had a hell of a time making it, and it still didn't turn out as good as I had hoped, but you know how it goes. wink.gif The meanings of there names do fit rather snuggly, except perhaps for the 'prosperous' part in Ed's name. biggrin.gif I suppose he's prosperous from a non-monetary point of view. Lol
ymsg
That rawks. It looks so cool. ^.^
Swords Armed Alchemist
I was so shocked when I saw him dying! I was waiting to see someone popping out of the nowhere to save him last minute! I definetly got moved, specially when her little daughter started to cry for him to wake up... Why are they burying daddy?... he has lots of work to do...
BellatrixAngelofKyo
Thanks Ymsg! laugh.gif

To Swords Alchemist: I know what you mean! I kept thinking that some how he would make it! That was so sad... and then seeing Elysia and Roy... I couldn't take it any more and then I stoped cursing out Envy and started crying. Man, that was so sad...
ymsg
Ooh, me too. When I was just ticked, I was sooo awful, screaming at Elysia to shut up. It was pretty bad, lol. I was like, "Shut the eff up Elysia, shut up!" Cause I didn't want to believe it. And I got so quiet when Roy...
[Shadow Alchemist]
I bawled my eyes out. T-T That was as horrible as the episode where little Nina was...well...*splat* on the wall. He was such an awesome character. Also, the funeral just did me in...his little girl begging her mother to stop the burrial because he wouldn't be able to finish his work.
ymsg
*nod* always so heartwrenching.
BellatrixAngelofKyo
*sigh* Yes, both were extreamly sad. And compliments on your signature [Shadow Alchemist]! It's so wierd and cool at once! I love it!! laugh.gif
ymsg
XD yeah that is cool.
OtakuSailorV
I cried when I read the manga chapter; I didn't cry as much when I saw the episode.

edwardasakura18
i didnt necessarily cry just cuz im kinda stoic-ie lots of the time but my heart like genuinely hurt for hughes...i couldnt believe it and totally didnt breathe for some time. sad sad sad...
hawkeye1313
I can honestly say that i bawled my eyes out. I was ok, just a little bit teary, then when Elysia didn't understand why they were burying her dad...i cried. (other than the fact the voice acting was kinda crappy)
Colette
I didn't cry when he actually died, I did tear up at the funeral though.
VincentProxy

Wrath V

yea same here as soon as i saw the part when Elysia was like''daddy has to go to work mommy''
Becca-chan
Well I can remember when my little sister showed me that episode.. I was shocked when he died, I started to tear up during the funeral scene.. and when it showed the last scene where ghost Hughes is waving to Ed, then went onto the credits I burst into tears.

That's how much it really got to me.
Migchao
My eyes got teary. I was too shocked to bawl my eyes out.

Though when Lust died, I was bawling for like an hour or two straight. I don't know why, though.

And when Ed died, I shrugged and cried a tear.
Munich!FMA
It bothered me. I've seen the episode about six times, and my eyes have teared up twice. It's not when he actually dies that gets me...that just pisses me off. It's the whole funeral scene.

Having Officer Hughes in the movie helps, just because it's good to see the Hughes character-sketch again, even if it's not our Hughes.
Mustang_93
The first time I saw it i knew it was coming, I mentally "prepared" for it. " Lt.Ross has a mole below her left eye" " ohh sorry my bad" gunshot. At that point I was ok the funeral started i held it in but then "Mommy why does daddy have to go? Daddy told me he has work to do! Where is daddy going?" "He's gone Elysia... He's gone". The floodgated opened, "It is ok to cry colonel"
Ratzenheich FMA Super fan
I was really sad, but I didn't cry. Only the episode 8 (Night of the Chimera's Cry) and the last episode (Laws and Promises) really made me cry like... umm... like a waterfall and kept me thinking about it... especially the last episode. We believe the same thing... even long before I watched or even heard of FMA. Everything comes at a price and if we worked hard enough we will be rewarded for it, even though it's not what we expected, not just in the material context but everything.
Dozzer18
i havent yet cried during an anime series but that scene with hughes and when nina was killed made me tear up

Better than me. I laughed >.>
deadeye402
I didn't cry. I don't really cry from fiction stuff.
What happened to Nina was more sad than Hughes, too.
Barrythechopper rocks
when Hughes died, I cried alot. He was my favorite character. My friend who only watched that episode (because i wouldn't stop nagging her) thought he was cool too. why do all the good characters die?

Really now. She is a humacule. Or however you spell the damn word. Some people call her a girl yet she has no rack. Some people call her a guy yet she wears girl clothes. I'll stick with a guy.

I thought it was cruel that Roy said so you had to go and die and leave me in the ranks. It's not his fault. Poor Hughes. sad.gif

aw c'mon, you know he didn't mean it. He was just trying to sound tough. Besides you could tell he was really affected by his best freind's death, and how he felt so useless.

Please don't double post.
Also, the posts you are quoting are over a year old...

No problem. smile.gif

Then shouln't we kill this thread like we did to the Envy's gender one? Because it is a sorta old topic. And also my advise would be to go to a more active topic!
Mind Alchemist
the first time i saw this epi i cried my eyes out, and i still get teary eyed wen i rewatch this epi. [as much as i hate to admit, i aways cry, when it comes to sad thing like these]
EdwardElricsgirl
When I saw the eposide which was a long time of go I cried so hard, my sister walked in and ask why I was crying and I told her and she got mad. Me and her stayed up to watch it, cause it comes on 2 times and I cried again and so did she. Now everytime I watch the dang eposide I get teary eyed. It so sad, and that is why I hate Envy. I could never like him for that
