In the first episode, when Ed and Al are watching Cornello's "show", Ed is standing on his suitcase to see the "show". I never noticed that until my friend pointed it out. Poor shorty XD

Allright, I have never payed full attention to all of the odd alchemy books and assorted documents in the show. I never knew that upon closer examination Marcoh's coding for his alchemy notes is a recipe for French Toast and what appears to be a recipe involving corn bread, tomato paste, meat, and lightly shredded cheese. *wants some special alchemy toast*

LOL when I saw that scene I was puzzled as to what it was supposed to be so I just assumed it was a pile of garbage. Then I found out later it was Wrath... and that it looks like theres a empty milk canister(he stole it I bet, poor milkman) instead of it being a garbage can. But there is still garbage on the floor. Wrath is a bad boy, littering everywhere lol.

Some more stuff:

-In a flashback, when Edo and Al are looking at Hohenheims notes and equations in one of his alchemy books, it says something about a pan, onions and frying something I think... crazy alchemy codes.

-When Hohenheim first created the P. stone, his original body was rotting away quickly as an after effect so Dante then attaches his soul onto another man's body and after that he has switched many bodies before leaving it as is after meeting Trisha. If you pay attention you will notice that the body he currently has looks almost exactly like his original body 400 some years ago... More proof of this is that Envy's original form resembles a younger version of Hohenheim's current body (assuming Envy was created before the creation of the P. stone which I think is likely).

LOL! In episode i-forgot-the-name-of-it when Winry and Scheska are comin down on this mechanicle (sp?) bike thing amd they come through a bush and Havoc screams, theres a catipillar on her hair when she gets closer to the screen

i noticed it the frist time biggrin.gif

i found a number of things watching fullmetal a second time around:

whenever someone(ed in pirticular) opened the gate they would be show vast amounts of knowledge at a fast rate. two things i found out by rewatcing each time. ed thought that what he was being show was all that was alchemy but because the gate lead to our world that was incorect. what ed was really being shown was our science and chimistry from the past and the near future. it took me a while to get that. another thing is when ed was first brought to the gate he saw images of the future of his world too. like for istancehe saw claude(the girl from episode 4) he saw him and his brother fighting and he saw when he got his silver watch.
Fullmetal Fangirl
Well I noticed just now after watching a few eps:

Everytime Roy is told to get a wife by Hughes, the next person to speak him after slamming the phone is Riza ^^ Lol, i just realised

oh yesh, i LOVE this line:

Potato + Tomato = Pomato!

You'll see that Ed is left-handed in episode 6 when he writes a letter to Winry. But in episode 1, when Ed writes down the transmution circle, you can see that he is right-handed. Which means he cannot write with his auto-mail arm.

I think Edo has learned to use both hands during the time that he did not have automail and the 1 year rehabilitation for the automail surgery (do you actually think Winry would make an automail that would not be able to write???). Edo is most likely ambidextrous.

-In the Majhal episode he uses a dinner knife with his left hand but a couple episodes later at Tucker's house you see him using the right hand for a dinner knife.

-Even though he was writing a letter with his left hand, in episode 5 when he was saving the train from Bard's group he drew an array with his right hand. Also at Tucker's place when he was testing Al with a question he was holding a pen/pencil with his right hand.
Siobhain_chan
If you look carefully, in episode 29 (and probaly more) when Ed enters the gte you can see visions of a bunch of stuff from our world and theirs heres what I saw, theirs probaly a bunch more

Their world: him and al standing next to each other, lyra getting ready to do her alchemy, fletcher and his older brother (forgot his name, ed, al, and Den as children (and a puppy^^), more and more and more Ed and Al, that girl who stole eds automail leg in episode 16 I belive, <<her grandfather, Winry and Pinako's house, nina and alexander, wounded soilders, Roze, clause, the NIna/Alexander chimera, the train station, the DONT FORGET oct.??.?? (too lazy to check) Ed al and trisha holding hands for the last time (aw..well, their hands really)

as well as from our world: armies, dinasours, cavemen, angels, deer, volcaneos, famous drawings , famous wars, some Japanese people, the AMERICAN flag (weird, huh?) cars, ships, what looks to be ALIENS, mountains, a blossoming tree, the earth, a big city (new york i think), a sting ray, bacterie (ew),records (as in the thing before tapes and cd's), ok alot o Japanese people, dinasours, and american flags, a baby that looks like its still in the womb, planes, pictures of the aftermath of an earthquake, the first plane ever flew (and I think the Wright brothers)
Rathany
Two things I notices the second time though -
1) In one of the early episodes it's King Bradley who encourages Al to seek the Philosopher's Stone
2) In episode 28, when Al thinks the print of a right hand in the sand is Ed's, it actually is! Ed didn't make the handprint, but it was his hand.
Fullmetal Fangirl
-When Barrys in his Human form, when he's talking to Winry about his little mini truck think, he's staring at her chest...not her face...even though she's flat...*hiccup*
Edo-mame
^ haha but that's only because he wants to slice her "artistically".

Ever notice that when Barry is pretending to be a woman he actually looks AND sounds like one? If you compare his face after and before the disguise they look totally different...
NeoKakashi
XD I feel dumb for not noticing this before-on episode 51, after Envy goes through The Gate, Ed is crying!
Fullmetal Fangirl
Oh yes...and he is also wearing clothes which i didnt realise until after.... *that was sarcasm....*

Edo-mame's right, his face is very different and I dunno how the hell he does that thing with his voice, crap, that's scary...

in OP3 when ED and Al are fighting the dragons in the begining the dragons look like mini versions of DragonEnvyfrom the movie
Electrastar
Hum, I noticed Izumi and her husband the first time around.
But I don't know if this has been mentioned or not, but for me, it's not something I've seen, more like something I've heard. I the original japanese version, and I say this because what I am about to say does not apply to the english dubb, Roy calls Edward "Ed" only once....somebody back me up, because I'm almost a 100% it's true...half the time, he only calls him Fullmetal....This may be a little detail...but I tend to notice these types of things...On, and I don't remember the exact episode, but it's when Edward decides to go to Lior alone and leave Alphonse behind.
Vigilante
Izumi at the train station in the background. I had no idea what she would look like, so I just thought she was another citizen

Lol, any time I think about anime and clothing things, I can't help but think of when Armstrong is fighting Scar:

[Armstrong fighting Scar, finishes doing the whole creation/destruction speech]
one of the military people: "Hey, where'd his shirt go?"

(is that in just the manga, or is it also in the anime? I'm too lazy to look)

Dont remember what episode its when Ed and Al have a big fight and Al sits by the river anyways...

Ed and Al are talking about what they use to argue about and they said they use to argue about who would marry Winry first

I know that Bones made FMA. What I'm trying to say is~ The Japanese version of that scene was different from the Eng dub scence. I'm just saying that it was different. Okay? I don't have a problem with it. When I was watching, I just relized it. That's all. Geez~! Don't be all aggressive about it. I just a made a mistake, that's all. Cause usually FUNimation do this a lot.

And what people are saying is that Bones is the one that made the correction and that is seen in the Japanese R2. There's no need to give FUNimation a black eye when it wasn't their fault. Give it to the FMA series itself instead.

First of all, my apologies if someone has already mentioned this.

Well, this isn't something to "notice" exactly, but not something I thought about until my friend pointed it out.

At the end of episode 7, when Ed starts crying, it starts raining immediately afterwards. Since Ed is such a powerful alchemist, it is possible that, in his extreme sorrow, inadvertently manipulated the weather to match his feelings.

I'm not too sure about that, it seems a little too subtle (at least to me tongue.gif ), even for FMA, but it's a beautiful idea anyway, ne?
Dusha
I kind of amazed that no one mentioned this yet, but here goes:

In episode 3, when Roy comes to the Rockbell home, he says that he came because he recieved a letter from the Elrics. When he holds up the letter, it is addressed to a 'Mr. James Herbert'.

Either Roy changed his name recently (and I wouldn't blame him with that name!) or he was tampering with the mail (a federal offense).

In the episode with Psiren, I was kind of amused because Ed was eating ramen on the train at the end and had his chopsticks broken really unevenly. Apparently, people who can't break chopsticks apart symmetrically are considered clumsy or kind of dumb. (Like poor Osaka from Azumanga Daioh.) laugh.gif

Funny, I noticed the uneven chopsticks in that scene, too.
And, I wondered if that was signifying Ed's inner stress/conflict of capturing Psiren, since in other eating scenes, lots of them in this episode, Ed had evenly split chopsicks.
I think Ed was kind of sympathetic to Psiren, but as in his own words, a crook is a crook, and he's a dog of military, so he did what he was expected of, and captured her...hence Ed's inner conflict about capturing Psiren. tongue.gif

And, what does this have to do with splitting disposable chopsticks, you may ask??
It's a sort of zen kind of thinking, that if the inner state of mind is at peace, one can probably easily concentrate on simple task such as splitting the chopsticks evenly, but when your mind is at conflict or at unease, your mind is thinking about that and can't peacefully concentrate at the task on hand, even as a simple task as splitting a pair of disposable chopsticks, hence uneven chopsticks when the mind is at unease? tongue.gif

Of course this is just me reading too much about that unevenly split chopsticks. laugh.gif
Jellybean
Ooh, nice analysis. Hadn't thought of it that way. That kind of makes me feel better too, because I only break those stupid chopsticks evenly about 1 out of 5 times. I'm not uncoordinated, I'm just frequently stressed! tongue.gif Ed's chopsticks made me giggle, though. He wasn't even close. laugh.gif

Oh yeah, about the thing with the hand clap that people were talking about earlier. I don't really see why Bones had to change it anyway. I thought the point was that he made a circle with his arms to circulate power. It wouldn't have to be palm-to-palm contact to form a circuit.

After seeing the whole series and movie, when I was rewatching certain episodes or parts, some quotes really stood out to me. I thought it was kind of funny in episode 3 when their mom let Ed and Al study their father's books and she said not to "open that door" without really specifying to us which door. If "door" is interpreted to mean "gate," then by trying to revive her, that is exactly what they do. The end of this episode also sent chills up my spine when I heard Al say that they might "disappear from this world forever." Another future refrence I noticed was in episode 14, when Ed and Al were at Marcoh's house and Brigadier General Gran mentioned that no one knew for sure what shape the Philosopher's Stone might take.

I don't know if my connections make any sense to you guys, but they do to me. I just thought it was really cool how they weaved such small lines into the story without really giving away what would happen. It really makes the series worth rewatching, and its part of the reason I love this series.

Ha, all those intriguing, possibly double-meaning & foretelling lines!! Thanks for pinting then out!!

I actually thought mom Elric was pointing at a certain door at the end of room in dad Elric's library, and have been wondering what laid behind that door.

Of course we'd never know because they burnt the whole house to ashes.
Maybe that was more of a symbolic speach, as your suggestion. smile.gif
TheVileOne
The door was Hohenheim's lab where the Elrics conducted their human transmutation experiment to try and revive the mother.

Trisha OBVIOUSLY was NOT talking about "The Gate." C'mon people... really.

Ha, just as we were discussing if the country of Japan existed in the Haragen world...

I found this little comment:

I was watching the repeat of ep 27 tonight.
And, there was a scene in which Breda was playing Shougi, Japanese chess, as he got the phone call from Mustang.
Then, an officer in the background commented about Shougi that that's a chess from "an island nation in the East"!!

I remember seeing Shoogi in this episode, but the officer's comment didn't register into my brain before. happy.gif

There was a gaiden in the manga that explained that.
She wanted to grow her hair like the girl from Resembool (Winry, though she never went to Resembool in the anime, only Roy did), and Winry wears earring because she wants to be like Hawkeye.
