In Fruits Basket (English dub), Hiro Sohma is voiced by the same boy who voices Alphonse!
What a coincidence! He does really crappy acting in both series!
(Yes, I did already know this.)

Awww, take it easy on him! Voice acting is hard enough, ask any adult, but he's a kid! Besides, when he did the Fruba one, he was like, 7 or 8!

I don't really feel like redoing this argument for the 100th time. They could just as easily have cast a talented young woman to fill the role of a preteen boy. I know that kids with talent are rare to find, but there are plenty of them out there who can emote better than he can.
When you're watching television, you don't want to have to consciously go and think "Well, at least they're trying their best!" with the acting. No, you want to be able to forget that it's acted at all and enjoy the story coming to life.

who said that that is what I think? Hell, I'm an aspiring animator, I got hooked on FMA for the art! Then for the storyline, and then for the characters, and then for the dubbing process itself (I think they did a better job matching up the voice with the lip movements for the English than they did for the Japanese!) and
thenfor the voice actors themselves! Besides, it all depends on what you're used to - I've watched FMA with the Japanese several times and I still can't stop laughing every time I hear Mustang's voice - it's so deep! Haha! And the guy singing on the character file! Heehee! Hahahaaa! Sorry... ahem... so yeah... Envy's VA - thumbs up for casting a shim! Woohoo!

I liked Alphonse's english voice, but near the end of the series it seemed almost 'too young' for him...hm.
Oh, and another fun fact - Barry the Chopper in FMA and Kyo Sohma in Fruits Basket. Same voice actor. Suprisingly most of the FMA voice actors/actresses had a part in Furuba.

I actually thought his voice was okay when he had his voice in a softer and lighter tone, but when he screamed, no, it sounded distgusting.
Mostly Im in favor of the Japanese voice actress, shes awesome.

Envy's French voice is sexy. (But Roy's French voice= teh ultrasexx) The French dub is kinda cool, even with the stuff they change. (Al calling his brother by his given name makes my heart hurt.)
Where did you hear the French dub?

I want to hear French Envy I bet it's sexy.

In my attempt to collect all "English voice" threads in one forum, I'm moving this from FMA Character discussion forum to FMA Anime American Japanese Audience sub-forum where I'm currently converging all English dub threads.

The only version of Envy's voice of ever enjoyed was the manga

</sarcasm>
But, really, I think he kind of sounded bad to me in all three, if not a bit better in the Japanese version.

I have only heard Envy's voice in the English and Japanese.
English: I actually don't hate his voice as much as most people. It doesn't annoy me or grit on my nerves, it's just strange. I haven't seen the episodes when he loses his temper yet, but it's hard to imagine him screaming, yelling and showing immense emotion.
Japanese: Perfect, perfect, perfect. While it has feminine tone in it, it's still masculine enough to pass for a male. His voice actress does a superb job. Have any of you seen "Fullmetal Reflections" when Envy is contemplating the series with Greed? At the end I got goosebumps all over my body from Envy's intense yelling. I almost cried. Those emotions of fear and loneliness don't even suit Envy yet it was still spectacular. I totally forgot at the moment that he was not a real person; that's how amazing his voice actress is.

I really don't like Envy's English voice, but I don't hate it as much as other people do. Like Amalthea said, it's kind of hard for me to imagine him showing much emotion.
The Japanese one, though, is so good. I mean, I was having a hard time deciding whether Envy was male or female even! It has a really nice quality to it that I like and isn't really common in a lot of voices. It's perfect for him, in my opinion. And there's a certain way he says particular words, like when he refers to Ed as 'chibisan'... I wasn't particularly surprised to learn that he was played by a girl, not like I was shocked to learn Ed was played by a girl.
