Okay, I didn't read all the pages in this thread because I didn't feel like it, but let me get this straight:
Curse of the Crimson Elixir is released mid-July, correct?
And does anyone know when Dream Carnival will be released in the US?

EB Games says the release is the 12th of July, but they still aren't showing the cover. That's pretty weird considering that fact that it's coming out in three weeks.

not nessicarily true, fullmetal alchemist is the best,fma2 is gonna rock
I also heard that fullmetal alchemist 2 also includes a bonus dvd
with the first two episodes of the second season.(27 and 28)

I just realized when looking up this game (and
Broken Angel) in various online stores that international shipping isn't even allowed.

How cruel.

Has anyone watched the trailer for this in the Multimedia section? I busted out laughing at Roy when I watched it. Near the beginning, they are fighting those...shadow men, whatever they are, and he's just strolling along, hand in his pocket, setting stuff on fire like it's no big deal that they are fairly well surrounded. That's actually where I got my avatar idea but that's beside the point. It's just hilarious to me, I don't know why. I guess I've really missed his cocky additude. Then when Riza scares Ed half to death, that's funny too but I'll let you guys see that one for yourselves

.
Website related though, what about the game? The website has a game built into it for "bonus material" and being the curious little kitty I am I had to figure it out, but I can't beat that game to save my life. Anyone else played it?

yah lol, once you beat lvl2 of the game (took me awhile to figure it out), it just goes back to the first level

. But as for the bonus stuff, i've found all of the items except for the 'Bonus' item.

Okay, well, since you've beaten lvl 2, I will annoy you with something
How do you kill the front three shadow guys with that frippin ball? I hate those balls in the first game, and even in that mini one.

I wonder if the areas will be much bigger than the first ones and if so can you change ANYTHING into a weapon. the first one was ok but had too much linear gameplay to make it better. the cutscenes were too short too. considering Square-Enix made the game i expected long cutscenes that were interesting and furthered the plot. still it was a good game. hopefully 2 will mop the floor with it.

I beg everyone getting this game at release day, *please please please* post your reviews, I can't wait to play this game, but I won't be able to so soon T-T
AliCat
Jul 11 2005, 05:49 PM
Going along with the short cutscenes, there were a few of those text only cutscenes where I felt they almost needed to be animated in some capacity. Otherwise you spent way too long slogging through Ed and Al making funny faces while you read text. That got annoying.
And I'll post something of a review I guess. Mind you, I'm a slow gammer, so it will probably be first impressions at best, but I'll post something for you Hughes. *pinches your avatar* Chibi Hughes is cute.

I was at my GameStop a week ago looking for other games and I looked at the release dates at PS2. As usual with the stores around my area, it said:
Released: July 12th / Arrives: July 13th
I would assume it is the same for many areas. Give it a day to ship to the store. Hopefully someone will be able to find it though...

Guess I'll run around again tomorrow after class and hope someone's got it.

Why the hell would they release a game on it's shipping date? maybe at night or in the afternoon it would come out but be for real did you really believe it would come out exactly on the 12th? games always come out on the day after the shipping date. thats when they're released in store for sale. the day they have for it's release is always when it's released worldwide(mostly) in the trucks and get shipped to the stores the entire day from morning till end. Well, I FINALLY tracked it down (I'm so glad I made that last EB Games stop...I almost didn't stop there)
I've played a few chapters, have a few preliminary thoughts. I'll put it under a spoiler tag for those who...just don't care or don't want to know or whatever.
Pro:
- I love listening to the voices, even if they are in English and not in Japanese (which I wouldn't be able to understand anyway but still...). It's a thing with me I guess.
- HUGHES! ROY!!!! Need I say more?
- The alchemic timer is automatic. In Broken Angel, you had to charge it to do advanced transmutations, in this one you just hit the button and there you go.
- You get more hits per attack. In BA, you got three good shots in before the guy was on their back. In Crimson, you get...5 or 6 hits in before you kick the guy across the room which is a pro in itself. It's really cool to see some chimera go flying across the room instead of just landing on their back.
- More locations. I like bouncing *shrug*
- You can transmute stuff straight from the ground. Even though I prefer fighting with my bare hands.
- AL AND HIS KITTIES!!!!! I busted out laughing about the kitties you can collect and equip. I had to momentarily pause the game when I found the first one, I was laughing so hard.
- Al can throw you up to higher spots. You call him over and he can alleyoop you to places you can't jump to on your own. I wanted this for BA.
Con:
- While the lack of alchemic charger is nice, I find even making a handblade is hard. To make Ed's automail into his handblade is a multiple button move, which is something I've never been good at. I still haven't done it. The same goes for making the stonespikes, I've only made those once so far.
- You have to do a muitlple button move to unequip an item, which is crap. Before you just hit the equip button to unequip something, now you have to hold down one button and press another. That's just irritating to me.
- Rage attacks are...hard. Especially when they are most useful. You have to be so close to Al you are touching to even get him to throw you when there are a lot of baddies around, and even then I have yet to successfully get the attack off. I'm three chapters in and have yet to do a rage attack simply because I'm having trouble moving around on the buttons fast enough.
- I've already run into a few scenes that should have been animated. ((And Rose is annoying but we already knew that and that's more of a personal peeve and has nothing to do with the game

))
- Speaking of Rose and her whimpering, it's not...really an original story. It's more that they took the first season and convoluted elements of it to fit the idea. Or at least that is how it's looking so far...((most glaringly that suddenly Shou Tucker's story got bumped to somewhere down in the boys timeline...that will make more sense when you play. I was like "what the hell...?")). Normally, I have little problem with altering a story so the game is playable, but it's a bit extreme in this game.
Overall, I do like it so far. I know the Con part looks longer but I have more pro points than con, I just griped a lot in con, that's all. It's up to you though, if after my preliminary thoughts you still want to play or not.
*shrug* I prefer flying through it once, then going back and doing it all again. Just my preference, and I don't get bored with it. I personally get bored on games where you are kind of forced to take it slow, where it takes an incredibly long time to get something done. But that's just me I guess.

Ah already beaten it. Hence my absence yesterday. Again the game is too short. I beat this one faster then the first one. 12 hours and 1 min.

Dammit! people already beat the game while this half-assed EB games still hasn't got it yet! i need to see if the EB further from me has it. i tryed to see if Gameforce had it but the loser in there just simply said "no" without even checking. i wanted to say so badly. "look you freakin assclown why not get off your fat freaking ass and look in the back for the freakin game!" but i probably would have gotten arrested by mall security.
