o.o yea but those pins dont determine his rank though... so. i dont know how you can say that just because he's not wearing them that he is demoted? he very well may have been striped of his Medals and Such, but that has nothing to do with Rank. also i would like to point out that [spoiler] he wasn't against the military persay... but moreso the bad judgements of the military and Bradley who was actually a Homunculi. so doesn't that entitle him to the right to plot against them? i didn't say that it had a direct corrolation; i only pointed out that if it does, it'd be significant in figuring out if roy was demoted or not.

and the higher-ups in the military are most likely aware about the homunculi business, but how do you explain that to a country, now confused as to where it's ruler went? roy would be a martyr and scapegoat of sorts, if the military uses roy and his uprising to blame for the fuhrer's death. and they'd at least have to demote him for public display, as i'm sure there would be people in amestris angry at the fuhrer's death. also, roy carried through his coup for the good of amestris, but unless you successfully pull it off from beginning to end and completely seize power, the people in charge probably aren't going to forgive a military uprising with a slap on the wrist.

i have to say... i hate al's new look ~.~ i liked his old one, the one he had in the very last episode. never liked al that much, but i think he looked pretty good there. but that thing *points to card* isn't al oO long hair doesn't fit him... and what's the reason in him having his pony grow a bit taller and his backhair so that he can make a ponytail and the rest looks the same? oO and also is think al's clothes doesn't fit him at all

the promoting/demoting thing: personally, i hope they got promoted, but i have to go with merc cause that's actually my way of thinking, too.
the reason why i hope he's promoted is, that he got that eyepatch.. that's more a psychological thing, though. *hehe* fuhrer got that eyepatch -> fuhrer is dead -> roy got eyepatch -> roy is new fuhrer. xD
and sometime i just think they made it look like that so you can speculate if they got de-/promoted so that you get even more curious ;D
oh, and what i was wondering is: when you are an national alchemist, you start with an certain rank. so i wonder if you can get demoted lower than that starting rank.?

You know, I've started to make so many theories on the movie after watching the trailer, i.e. why Ed has to sort of "jump start" his arm and the whole military de/promotion stuff. But I think the one that bugs me the most, is that in the trailer, Alphonse Heiderich says (as quoted on the main page) "I believed... that (big) brother is alive somewhere out there..."

Now. Correct me if I'm wrong, but in episode 50, when Ed whips through the gate into the other world and temporarily takes over that blonde kids body . . . . doesn't he look an awful lot like Al H.? And then the kid has a blimp fall on him . . .

What I'm thinking, is Ed is going to have some sort of emotional attachment to Al H, and maybe as part of a guilt trip/equivelant exchange thing, he might have some issues with going back to his brother and leaving the other Al without a brother. Like, maybe a part of him will want to stay with Al H. and be his big brother?


o.O;; I really don't want that to happen, cuz Ed and Al MUST end up together. Must must MUST. But that above scenario would add to the drama and angst of the movie. Like it already isn't dying of it already.

I think the movie site should release another trailer. Only, have some clips of the military people >< I miss them . . .

alright first of all for those that said al was cosplying ed are forgetting one thing. when al was brought back from beyon the gate to his 10 year old state it clearly said that he lost all his memories from after the night he tried to ressurecet his mother so he could't know ed would start waring that red coat or black attire. and because ed had disapered beyond the gate he also had no memories of his brother with long hair. and for those that are confused about the first trailer of ed and armored al that was a few years before the conqure of shambla is supposed to take place. on another note al did not know that ed could transmute without the use of a circle(izumi on the other hand can do it frequently) and that is where he could get the idea of putting the transmutation circles on his hands although if you ask me he should have done like the crimson alchemist and just tatooed the circles on his hands in case sombody rip the glooves up like how ed did to roy in fullmetal vs flame.
al looks alright though i was confused at first as to who the hell he was in that post card.
as for roy it would be very clear that he would have been demoted. ed even pointed out in episoade 49 that the goverment will not hear of his challenge against king bradly. it is treason aginst the govermant and it's highest athoritys. but on another note didn't winry say at the end of the episoade that a new goverment was being astblished...something about the palimont or something. so he could just have new ranks or something.

Ever heard of a photograph, all the people around him that do remember? Its quite possible he wanted to know about his brother and so people told him.

My theory on the jacket is that it was the one left behind by Ed and so has been passed onto his brother.

As for Roy you are most likely right, but remember what happened to Bradleys son. Pretty sure the government wouldn't be too pleased with that little stunt.

Alphonse just looks weird to me in the movie. His love for Edward went from brotherly to obssessive...I mean, he looks JUST like him...He doesn't have his individual look anymore....He didn't have to grow his hair out like that or wear smilliar clothes, he was fine just the way he was. I can't get used to Roy with an eyepatch. Having that huge black patch cover his pretty face is just WRONG....A good thing that Riza didn't change at all, that would have been bad

It's either an eyepatch or no eyepatch showing a hole in his eye socket along with possible scarring (still ambiguous on that one). I really was hoping they'd just give him a bloody automail eye like they did Archer except make Roy's more real looking. And with alchemy you'd think they'd be able to fix scarring.

Either way, if we have to deal with the eyepatch, then I'll deal with it cuz I think he's still hott.

Al may be pretending to be Ed because his brother has a reputation and Al was armour O.o. Would be easier to get info etc if he just did that. Roy may be helping him out too, plus Risa was always quite fond of Al.

The ending had better redeem everything. I wasn't upset with the ending in the series because I knew before hand that a movie was in the works, but GAH!!!

And once again, yet ANOTHER couple I root for in an anime is soooo close, yet sooooo far away from just being together.

As a lieutenant and a soldier, Riza can't defy orders from the higher-ups. She has no control over who her superior officer would be and where she is to be posted. She simply can't just jump on a train and leave with a corporal if she wants to remain in the military. It wouldn't do her and Roy any good.

I'm sure Riza and Roy are to meet up at some point in the movie. If they don't, then why would Riza be in the movie in the first place? We could simply know about everyone through Roy. So not all hope for Royai is lost. Afterall, absence makes the heart grow fonder.

Just to set the record straight in this thread, Roy's not a Corporal, he's a Private. And he abandoned his rank on his own accord, he wasn't demoted. Riza still has the same rank though.

According to the insignia, Roy's a corporal. But according to the text, he's a Private 1st class. We can't be sure of the rank at the moment. (although either one, it's just as bad.)
