EdWin? there's obviously some kind of attraction, but if the question is if I see a future relationship, I seriously doubt it. I'm pretty sure the end of the manga will be as radically strange as the anime one.

Blah I wouldn't like the pairing if ed and winry were actually nice and mushy towards each other... that's way to much for me... and for others like me.

I think that in the manga, the more obvious couples are royxriza, as we can see at the time when riza was explaining to winry that she would shoot to protect someone and there were flashbacks... or images of roy. It doesn't mean in the end they're gonna end up marrying each other, it just means that their feelings toward each other are a little -well to me... very- obvious and some people go for those kind of couples.

EdxWinry are kinda like Kagome/Inu in the (very) beginning... you kinda know theres something there... but it just isn't obvious. u know wut i mean? it's just ... cute the way they act around each other and you just know they're going to be a couple but they might not be... (well in iy, the relationship got deeper... ;;)
It's kinda hard to explain, but the relationship between ed and winry is quite interesting some ppl think they are more like bro/sis but i think they grew up as really closed friends. you don't see winry treating al like ed, or al treating winry like he treats ed, or ed treating winry like al... so there is a difference between brotherhood and just close friends. Yeah sometimes Ed does treat Winry like a sister, and sometimes there's a little something more, and vise versa.

X_x No... I can't believe that. I just don't see Ed/Winry becoming a canon pairing. I think it could end up one-sided with this latest developement, but Ed just doesn't seem the type to like anyone that way.

It's not that he's unromantic or cold. It's more like he's a bit dense. He was thrown into the adult world before he had a chance to grow up, and with all the problems he's been facing, I don't believe he ever had time to open his eyes to the possibility of liking anyone in a romantic way. So he sees Winry as someone who will always be there for him and support him as a sister... but I think he has yet to realize she's a girl.

In any case, the anime made something of it with the third ending, and those official pictures were anime. But there was hardly anything actually going on, and in the movie, I doubt they would just randomly fall in love.

As for the manga, it still has a long way to go. There could be a tragic ending for all we know. I just don't see it turning into a romantic drama of any sort. Arakawa already created all the drama the story needed with the plotline, so if something does go on between them, it'll be pushed into the background.

The main pairing I see now is Roy/Riza, but it's canon, and I support it. I mean it's cute, and it works out. It's just awkward when a person randomly starts seeing someone they knew his entire life in a new light, and those stories are just so unrealistic. I'll always see Ed and Winry as siblings. They even have a sort of sibling rivalry going on where Winry is torn between having to fix his automail on a regular basis or not getting paid. ^^;

One of the reasons I liked FMA was that it's not cliche with pairings, and that a female main character was not a romantic interest, but whatever. I just don't want Arakawa to needlessly turn Winry into another Anzu Mazaki. -.-

Yaoi? No. Just no. Where do these people get off pairing Ed with Roy? You pair two bishies just cuz they're bishies, and you kill the plot altogether. It annoys me to no end when fangirls try to insert yaoi into everything. It doesn't seem within Ed's personalty to love anyone, ESPECIALLY another guy. Sorry, no.

(Note: In most romances, relationships occur between two characters who absolutely hated each other from the begining. Other times, they occur between two characters who have been in love with one another for a while yet not knowing how the other felt. Sometimes, one character wins the heart of the other without knowing it through kindness or something like that. But usually, when a friend falls in love with another friend, they 1. get rejected, or 2. create so much tension that it kills their relationship or the plot, whichever comes first. Very rarely, do friendship romances work out, but that's just what I've noticed.)

Maybe FMA will change that. I don't like the relationship when the characters are already in love when the story begins... those are soo... boring.

I do think that friends can become more than friends... Anyway we'll have to see what happens.

well, it's all up to arakawa to decide whether or not to exploit this [edxwin] relationship. but hey, you never know right? and since she seems 'pro' edxwin, anything's possible. and hey, even if it's just hints that we get, i don't think it would ruin the overall feel of FMA.

By third ending i think its the "Motherland" one which they made Winry into fan service fodder.

hmmm...abt the whole Ed X Winry thing....i didnt like winry very much in the anime...she was characterised as this annoying little machine otaku who didnt contribute much to the story line, so i was very glad that EdWinry went unresolved in the series.

nevertheless, Winry manga is portrayed as a much nicer person...so if arakawa decides to go ahead, i dont see why not. Even the most obvious couple of the manga (Roy Riza) arent sickeningly sweet and cliche (like tsubasa) So i am guessing that if ed win are exploited, it would be done tastefully.

I don't think your are stupid. Hardheaded yes but not stupid. Anyway, there will never be Ed and Winry saying 'I love you' because that is just to OC for both of them. I can see Winry saying she cares for him but honestly saying that makes me seriously doubt that you beileve in Roy/Riza because they never say to each other that they love each other nor do they even kiss. In fact there is just hints mentioned of their relationship through the whole manga. There is really no absolute time when they show they they are a couple. They do show they care for each other and who do anything to protect eachother mainly in chapters 38 and 39 of the manga but there is never a kiss and never then saying they love each other.

You may possibly get a peck out of Ed and Winry on the cheek but come on let's be more realistic and aim for something that isn't 100% OC for both of them.

Uh, well... what should I say?.. It's hard for me to put into words the exact reason, why I don't see Ed and Winry as a pair... And I can't tell you exactly the cause, why I believe that Riza & Roy are a good couple... ugh... Let's say that it's just my opinion. Everytime in the manga when something remotely romantic happens between them, he blushes. (The hospital incident when his wound reopened after the call to Winry, and when Winry dragged him into her room in Chapter 38)

Winry wouldn't be half as shy.. she's more aggressive when it comes to romance. She rejects Ling's advances with a rather casual attitude in my opinion.

Right now, and I'm dead serious, I'm noting every hint of edwardxwinry evidence in the anime. Once I buy the first dvd, (which is coming out in January *screams with excitment* ) I'll watch each episode a thousand times over... Okay... Maybe not a thousand... Wait a sec, the first dvd barly shows Winry at all, and if it does show her, it's a flash back scene most of the time... *slumps back* Great . Well, I'll just have to keep wippin' out my notebook when the episode's come on and take more notes. I haven't been able to read most of the manga that is out, since I only view it from this site. ( I think I have a few chapters left to read ) But when I do see more, you can bet that I'll be paying close attention .

Fact is.. you can scrutinise the anime/manga all you like for hints of edxwin, and they may well be quite intentional, but hints is all they'll ever be. Romance has not been a theme of FMA in the anime or the manga, and it's too frivolous a thing to just throw in, especially when it's so far along. What I will say though, is that the hints are definitely there for edxwin more than winxanyone else, almost as much as rxr actually. It's one of those things that's sweet, but will never see any fruition. So fellow edxwin fans, be happy in knowing that there is a spark there, and maybe later on in their hand drawn lives they'll be a couple.. but don't expect too much more.
