Ed & Winry! Will They Ever Fall In Love?
I think they will
What do you think??

Urgh I hope not (god forbid that will ever happen), but hey it's not up to me
Hmm...I think I'll just link back to what I said in the other thread: http://www.fullmetal-alchemist.com/forums/...mp;#entry705765
Also, while I wouldn't say the romance is absolutely essential to the plot, I think it does serve an important purpose.
Here's just one example: remember in chapters 76 and 77, when Arakawa was really mean and decided "Hey! Let's impale Ed with a giant iron bar and see what happens!"
He was lying there, dying, and then he remembered everyone who wants him to succeed. He remembered Riza, and his brother...but there was one thought that gave him the final push he needed to keep living.
And that was Winry.
The mere thought of her was enough to keep him going. If he didn't love her more than a friend, do you think he would've had the strength to get up again? Would that scene have the same amount of impact if "romance" wasn't involved?
I mean, think about it. Winry is Edward's strength (and I mean that quite literally, too). She is the one who helped him through the surgery, cooled his fever and calmed his nightmares, all those years ago. She is the one who helped him stand up and taught him how to walk again. She is the one who fixes him every time he breaks (and in more ways than one). She knocks some sense into him when he needs it and won't hesitate to beat up anyone who messes with him. She cries when he refuses to. She loves him when he cannot love himself.
If that is not "important"...and if that is not the very definition of True Love...I don't know what is.

I have to remind you that his most important goal is to get Al his body back and he his lost limbs. He can't die until he has reached that goal. Pretty much the same goes for Al. Their ultimate goal depends on them being actually alive and not being killed before time by enemies (that seem to be too powerful for them to handle on their own). The story is one long journey of growing up, make mistakes / unmake those same mistakes, meet people and learn from them or teach them a thing or 2. I seriously think that even without the romance the series can still survive. What I care most about is the brotherly relationship and how they are intertwined in ofther people's lives. It may be justified but it's also unneccessary. The little hints are okay but I hate to see it go beyond that. I'll just wait and see.
It may have been mean but the result was because of Ed underestimating Kimblee (I have to admit it, even I underestimated Kimblee...Damn that ace up his sleeve). I have the feeling that Ed is going to be in bigger trouble then "just" impalement by a metal bar when he's up against a much bigger and more dangerous foe then Kimblee. As an afterthough I think however it was neat that Arakawa gave us that surprise. On the other hand it shouldn't have been a surprise since Kimblee is a coldblooded murderer and Ed is always hesitant to take lives. Really curious to see how that inner-struggle of Ed will develope.
