I think that eventually Ed will confess his feels for Winry. In a way I think that Winry knows Ed likes her but she just thinks of him as a best friend.

I feel like at the end of the manga it will allude to Ed and Winry getting together sometime in the future, but it won't be explicit. I think most of us would like to see a kiss though.

Winry doesn't think of him as a best friend. Winry has already admitted twice in the manga that she's in love with him. I think that classifies more than just a best friend.

Where did she admit it (twice)? I can't recall myself.

In the 12th volume, Winry said "I must have fallen for him a long time ago" when she was in the train that took her back to Rush Valley.

And in the 18th volume, she asked herself "Why did I fall in love with this weirdo?" when Ed went ballistic while thinking about what Riza told him about Winry in the 14th volume.

I agree I think it would be implied...Maybe a time-skip and they'll show Ed or Winry will a ring on. I would like to see a kiss but it probably most likely really won't happen . It'd be nice though. Right now I'm lookin forward to Royai lovin.

I think FMA were more on the romantic side they'd get into it a bit more. But because it's shonen, it probably will only be little hints dropped on it, mostly by Winry I assume. Now if it were a shoujo...

I understand that shonen is more about action and less emotion than a shojo, but, where is the rule who says that a shonen can't makes couples ? I would love so much to see more hints in the side of Ed. If Winry admited it, why not Ed ? Too proud of himself or too concentred about his fights ? Come on !

Nowhere. And I think Fullmetal Aclehmist is quite romantic, at least more romantic than a lot other shonen-mangas. The relationshipo between Ed and Winry has been growing since the very beginning of the manga and now we're at a point where they can't meet each other without throwhing huge hints at us all the time. Remember when they met at Pinako's house: Winry screaming because Ed saw her changing, Ed stopping eating because he saw her changing (I loved it XD), Ed telling her that she should leave the country (with Pinako), the two having an argument that Ed couldn't stand after an extreamly short time, Ling telling Ed about being greedy, Ed telling Winry she should bake him an apple pie and whait for him to come back. I think the apple pie-thing was the most romantic sentence he ever said. XD ]
This chapter was full of EdxWin-interaction, maybe even a bit too much for a shonen-series. I'm quite courious what will happen the next time when they meet each other. They've reached a point where's nothing to hide anymore, because it's just too obvious what's going on.
And what's with Winrys earrings? *pointing at Ed who's still holding them*


The only thing we need, is Ed saying that he's in love with Winry. Or we need another character telling (or teasing - like Riza XD) him without Ed denying it or freaking out. Ed's behaviour is more than enough to understand that he doesn't think of Winry as his old childhoodfriend, or his best friend, or a girl: he sees her as a woman and a potential lover. He just needs to spill it out already!

I don't think I'd want to see an explicit lip-to-lip kind of kiss...I'm just not quite into that stuff yet.

The apple-pie thing was cute, but I wish they'd done more; put more depth into it. I have this idea/scene in my head before Edward goes off to deal with Father (or before some big battle or something) and Winry says something like "How do I know you'll come back? How do I know you won't make me wait for good?" And then Ed turns around, plants a firm kiss on her forehead and dashes away. Or something like that...

I think my favorite scene/quote in the whole FMA manga (and there's a LOT of good ones) is in chapter 70, when Edward remembers what Riza said ("You love Winry, don't you?") and he starts randomly spouting out the table of elements to calm himself down; and Winry just looks at him and says, "Why do I love this weirdo??"

I. LOVE. THAT. QUOTE. Because it's so, so true. (My mom says that all the time about my dad, lol..."You weirdo!") True Love goes beyond romance. It isn't about roses or candlelight or warm, fuzzy butterflies in your stomach, nor is it always romantic. It's simply about knowing the best, the worst and the just-plain-weird about someone and being committed to them ANYWAY.

And that's why this will always be one of my favorite pairings. *snugs EdWin* Gotta love those two...

My sister Josephina and I read the manga and watch the show. In the manga, Edward shows more compassion to Winry, while in the anime, he doesn't really show much. But I am an EdWin supporter.

Ed and Winry. I think it'll happens. She loves Ed. He loves Winry. In the manga u can confirm, now we have sit and wait. (Lie! we have to fight for it! Like Royai)

The 'apple-pie-promise' is so sweet and made me melt when reading the chapter (I love that chapter so much... makes me wonder, if Winry didn't notice Ed, would he just sit there and watch her change xD?). Oh and I almost forget about the earrings... I like to think Ed keeps them as a good-luck-charm and a reminder to his promise with Winry

Oh, that reminds me, did someone read 'Simple People' in FMA Book in Figure Red Gaiden? That's an extra about how Winry got all her earrings from Ed and Al. <-- Cute EdWin moments!!

Now don't get me wrong, I am a complete Ed/Win supporter, but I think the earrings will turn out to be something he needs. Mid-battle or something he needs a small amount of metal to alchemize and there Winry's earrings will be.

Semi-romantic I suppose.

But there's some slight hints in the anime though, when Ed dyed his hair black and in the movie when Ed back from the gates.

Always wondered why Edward has such a height-complex?
SURE, he's quite short for his age and is clearly not happy about it,
but still, don't you think he overreacts too much about this?

Here's what I (like to) think:
Remember when Ed asked Winry why she rejected Al and him when they were kids?
And her answer was "I don't like guys who are shorter than me."
...
See where I'm getting?

Okay, Ed didn't remember the incident, but it must had bothered him back then,
Winry's rejection may even be the reason he has this shorty-complex ;P.
(Poor Ed... but we all know he's growing! He's even taller than Winry know ^^! So Winry has no excuse to reject him anymore ;D!)

This thought makes me feel happy and fluffy inside x3!

Even if he were still shorter than her, she wouldn't reject him. xD She's way too much in love with him and at the point we're now I think Ed wouldn't give up that easily if she's rejected him. It's such a nice thing for me and my EdxWin-Fangirl-heart to know they are definley in love and will be a couple. It's just a matter of time. Arakawa-sensei can take her time, I'll see and wait and I'll enjoy when it's the time, I'm sure she'll make it awesome. There's no way it isn't going to happen. Their relationship and their feelings for eath other have grown too much to just let it end like it is. >.< That'll be too cruel...

Yes indeed! Not that I don't like her in the first anime or something, I just don't care much about EdXWin in the first series.
But then I started reading the manga and totally started rooting for EdxWin x3 (and Winry is like 1000 times more lovable in the manga)!!

I REALLY hope the EdXWin-ending (and Royai, LingxLanfan and maybe AlxMei etc...) will be statisfying, unlike most shounen manga's where most protagonist do have a love-interest, but never actually got together... At least I want Ed to admit his feelings for her dammit x3!!

Agreed! It's so cliché that at first the protagonists fight and they don't even end up together. And really shows any scenes with a little deeper, complex romantic feel like Arakawa does with our fav pairings.

I feel the same way, there weren't many special scenes between Ed and Winry in the first series. As i watched the anime first, i felt like they didn't have much of a relationship but when i read the manga i just loved how they both interacted. Winry was so loving and sweet. Also the moments between Ed and Winry make me really happy, when i re-read chapters i usually go straight to those scenes. They share such a beautiful relationship where one cares for the other and depend on each other in different ways. I just love it!

Oh, the second scene...."don't die okay?" was so caring...and Ed was cheering her up by saying next time she will cry because of happiness made me smile....

Is this a kid or relative of yours? If so, you're a true visionary. You gotta start these things early. My tactic is singing my younger relatives to sleep every night with a slow humming of video game and anime theme songs. .....yeah. Anyway, yeah. Cute baby. I like how it's a little older. You took the words right out of my mouth. I want them to really show how he slowly removes each of Winry's fingers from the gun like Arakawa portrayed in the manga panels and then how he takes her hand in both of his, gently squeezing it and reminding her that her hands were made to save lives. ;_; OMG I really really hope they animate that part well. I felt so brokenhearted for poor Winry when she found all that out. If Ed hadn't of been there to console her and calm her, I hate to think of what could've happened.

I can't wait to see that scene! I laughed so hard in the manga when I read that chapter, she's JUST starting to remove her shirt and spots Ed just sitting there, staring at her. ROFL it's going to be an AWESOME moment. I also can't wait to see the apple pie scene as well, even though it's sad ;_; It's still going to be a good scene. Hopefully, like one above poster said, we'll see some EdxWin moments that WEREN'T in the manga making it 1000000x more lovable than it already is! I'm really hoping for an EdxWin ending. Nothing mushy or gushy, I just want to see Ed and Winry end up together!
