Shades has a good point! ^-^ Winry definately is more like "home" for Ed and Al but to tell the truth, if you think about the time period this is supposedly set in (in the 1st ep it says "1910" and in eps 17 Ed's pocketwatch says "Oct. 1910" so one can assume 1914 since Ed was 11 when they burned house etc.) the women of their time period were SUPPOSED to stay home and watch the kids while the guys went out on their adventures... but then again they don't all do that.. Riza pretty awsome with those pistols of hers then Winry wanted to go with them to places every so often and she even joins them for a while and yeah... I get what you mean Shades... though, one must takes in the elements of the show and remember time periods and ppl's mindsets then add in the author's artistic license *cough*Winry's clothes*coughcough*automail*cough*

I love so many pairings in FMA... RoyxRiza, EdxWinry, RoyxEd...

If any romantic relationships happen, I think that EdxWinry is the most likely. They've just been too close for too long for nothing to happen. Winry is the closest to Ed, barring Al.

Unfortunately, while the manga hints at it (haven't seen the anime *sweatdrops*, slow connection), I don't think that anything will happen. The manga doesn't really focus on romantic stuff, so it's unlikely that they'll suddenly switch to including a romantic relationship, even a tame one, like Ed and Winry's would probably be at the start.

Also, until Ed finds the Philosopher's Stone, he's way too focussed on that. Some time after he finds the Stone, when he and Al are back to normal life (or as normal as life is for a State Alchemist ), then he might realise that there are girls in the world. Then, Winry would be prime candidate for a relationship.

Ah well, we'll just have to wait...

anyway, shades has a point that it is stereotypical of female characters to just sit home and wait. but it is just that Ed and al's circumstance needs someone like winry, to sit and wait, and ground them back to sanity. she's like their emotional outlet after all. and because of all the support she's given, she's become a much more important person that she was deemed to be. well, at least she's not waiting at home since she travels with them.

i don't want winry to try and butt in, she's already doing that in the anime and it's kinda annoying. Well, at least she's not a ms.goody-two-shoes if you know what i mean...

i liked winry especially in manga vol. 5 where she helpd delivered a baby w/c suggests that she's not only a mechanic but a medic as well

Isn't it sad? Al has to see his brother and Winry and well, just everybody grow up around him while he's stuck in that armor. I bet he that if he does get his body back, time won't have caught up with him either.

Still, I like AlxWinry better than EdxWinry. But we've been over that countless of times so I won't bother rambling your head off about it. ^_~

I think Ed IS a bit childish but not in the sense that Al seems to be... it's more along the lines of Al being more naive to the workings of the world... Al doesn't seem like the type of guy who's quite 'old' enough to have a relationship so I guess that would mean 'innocent' and that he's less mentally prepared for a real boyfriend/girlfriend relationship... am I making any sense at all?

Ed comes across as the type of guy who knows about this stuff and is also mentally prepared for a relationship although the current events wouldn't point towards him choosing to engage in one. After this is all over at least somewhat then I would say that he'd be willing to start some sort of romantic endevors or maybe during this he needs someone as a comfort zone... sorta someone to protect or be around to forget his problems if even for a little while... Al can't really do this because he's a suit of armour and that is a constant reminders of his current problems if you all understand me here...

so I guess what I'm trying to say is that Ed seems to be a better match for Winry than Al is at this point and in the future, Winry may be the only girl who would understand Ed enough since she's always sorta been there for him and she knew what his life was like, the type of person his mother was, why he attempted the forbidden human transmutation etc. and everyone else would have heard of him as a 'dog of the military' or what have you. Al seems to be the type of guy who would do well with anybody... that's just his personality. I mean... let's get a show of hands out there from all the girls: would Al not be the perfect boyfriend? c'mon! how many of us think Al is perfect boyfriend material?
