Please post the discussions on episode 18: "Marcoh's Notes" here. smile.gif

A few new characters were introduced in this episode.
I didn't like any of them.

There was a good fight scene, although it was kind of short.

Also, some new and disturbing info was brought forth.

When Hughes was telling that new guard why they have to let Al and Ed do what they want, I thought that was a little disturbing coming from him.
It made him sound a lot more like a dog of the military than he normally does.

Also, I didn't like any of the new characters in this episode, especially that girl that is trying to hold Al and Ed back.

This episode made me realize how good of a character Armstrong is.
I was missing him in this episode after he was in the last few.

I thought that the three new characters sucked.
That librarian was too corny.
I thought that it was stupid how the solution to recovering Marcoh's burned notes was to have the librarian write them down from memory.
Falling_Man
I was a bit disapointed Scar didn't do much against the Lust and Gluttony.
Then again, he doesn't use alchemy the way everyone else does...

I thought the sequences with Sheshka and her book-filled house was funny.
*scribles down something on a list*
Another one on the FMA chick list... what? *looks around*

So the truth is revealed about the Philosopher's Stone.
How will they continue to move on...? *dum dum duuummmm*
Full Flame Alchemist
Just wait till next episode if you're looking for a long fight scene....

When Lust was alive she was actually Scar's brother's girlfriend.

I think that ep was quite good.

P.S Next ep's fight is really good. But no spoilers for you!!!

I thought the episode was okay,

gave new information
and some new characters

and shedded some new light on the philosophers stone,
will they continue after finding out what the philosopher's stone's last ingredient was?
i was shocked when they found out as well,

some parts of the episode was funny
aznxdotcom
i think the episode was okay but I think it needed to end w/ a bigger bang..

Ed seems to be getting over the pipsqeak humor I see.

This series seems to be coming to a point soon I suspect.

Lust and Gluttony were human at one time.
(or at least Lust was Scars friend/wife or sister maybe)

Hopefully now that he knows that a lot of his people weren't wiped out maybe he'll go to the Elrics and warn him about those two,
But then again maybe not.

To find out that the stones final ingredient was a Human being is not good,

And It's a good thing Lust and Gluttony don't know about the new copy of Dr. Marcos book
and/or of the lady who now is for all intents a state secret cause of her photographic memory
(For Her safety really I'd think).
The Thunder Alchemist
What I want to know is how the last ingredient is used in making the stone.
All the ways I can think of are disturbing, especially since the ingredient has to be living.
neodarkzero
The series wont get to the BIG point yet
there are 51 episodes in the series after all.
Same as all anime series'.

I can understand japenese, so i have watched all the eps.
I wont spoil anything.

Just know that this series has been pretty boring so far (if youve seen the cooler episodes)
Except for the fight w/ scar on ep.16.

I thought what Hughes said to Roy on the phone was hilairious
but I can't wait till the next episode, ( yay a battle!)
I really didn't like Ross or Block but Sheska was okay, her fantasy was funny
but seeing Scar in the last scene was just plain creepy.
(glad half of him was covered in bandages, no shirt eeeeewwwwwwwwww) wacko.gif

I'm still pondering the thought pn the philosophers stone, a live humasn being?
how can that be ?
was marchos stone a real one?
this is all very confusing
maybe some more of my questions will be answered in the next episode.

I just wish they would show FMA more on Cartoon Network, like during Toonami and Adult Swim, and at 9:30 PM.

It was an okay episode,

but I like the one with Dr. Marcoh pointing the gun at Al.

It's the first showing of the synthetically created Philosopher's Stone.

Kao
This epi was HILARIOUS.

I forgot the 2 guards names, but when they went up to Alphonse and thought he was the Full Metal Alchemist.

Also what Hughes said to Roy. happy.gif

I was surprised when Marco's notes were cooking recipes and he put it in code.

Also when Lust jumped off the balcony, her smile was so weird.

[adult swim] fails for yet another edit in a long line of future edits. mad.gif

So now do you guys understand why the philosopher's stone can do what it can supposedly do?

Think back to the first episode, remember all the elements that make up the human body?
Not just that, but LIVING humans.

You just don't get it AlphonseRules. Sciezka just really *REALLY* loves books.

About "editing" of the Japanese episode for American viewers
Yeah, I believe they edited some of the blood spray from Gluttony's head.
The arm tearing however they did not edit.

Meh! Maria Ross and Denny Bloche. ph34r.gif
TheToe Alchemist
Its so clear now..why the stone can do what it can.
It makes it seem like it not equal exchange but it is..because in making the stone something of grate value was lost.
And i think it has to be a living person because only living people have the main ingredient and thats what makes the stone work the way it does,
But thats just my guess.

Nice ep. ,
but in my eyes so far all the FMA eps. are good.
I really hope that the series stays on in the US for the whole series because if it doesn't it will drive me crazy lol
The Thunder Alchemist
Another thing this episode brings up is maybe Marcoh wasn't so

self-remorseful/sad/guilty because of how his stones where used, but because of

what he had to do in order to make them.

I mean to say, live humans!?

Turning a people into a stones is going to weigh heavy on anyones conscience.

(also is the human killed by the process killed, or is his/her soul trapped in the

stone, like Al's soul is "trapped" in a suit of armor)

I can't wait for next weeks episode!

Is that spelling the reason they mispronounced it as "Block"?
I was kinda like... wtf? It's pronounced "Bu-ro-ch[i]". Whatev.

Anyhow, we're getting into the fifth laboratory episodes.
My advice to first-timers: Pay attention to these next few episodes.

Some huge revelations going on here.
(And one of my favorite Ed-is-Short gags in the next episode ^^)

Pay attention to Maria as well. She's very awesome.
(Sciezka is too, however she shines steadily in her own way later on.)

Did they really edit the Gluttony/Scar fight? I didn't notice. Another edit with the head asplody thing?

<Edited and added Spoiler tags. Please make sure to use Spoiler tags in the future.>
Panzer Dragoon
Yes, pay attention to the next episodes.
Me? I have to also because I've only seen screenshots of them.

Yes, the librarian (shezka) REALLY likes books.
The two guards (Maria Ross and Denny Bloche) weren't that bad, even though the female guard was pissing me off most of the time.

*Remembers it's Friday*
The next episode is tomorrow night!
Come on, time. FLY!!!
*Stares at clock on computer while listening to techno*

This episode was cute and serious.
I wish I have a picture of the group digging through the books though.

Speaking of pictures, here's some. Sorry if I'm late.
The Thunder Alchemist
I really liked Lust's smile when she was attacking Scar.

I think it really transmitted her twisted satisfaction in what she lusts to do (Lust lusts, lol)
CursedAnubis
^ I agree, Lust had a really weird face in that particular scene...
It creeped me out blink.gif

I didn't really like Ross or Bloche, they were kinda just like extras or something, maybe they play a bigger part later?

Anyway, I figured I'd start out my account by giving you guys some more screen caps pics of the epi. cool.gif
Enjoy, hehe.
Viewtiful Alchemist
I'm probably one of the few fans of Ross,
I thought her personality was neat through out the series,
she's very caring. Her role in the manga is slighty better.

And yes that Scar/Gluttony edit was a bummer.
Reluna
And now for a bunch of random, unrelated comments...

I've never really liked episode 18.
I guess it's because it's not that interesting when compared to the later episodes.

I do find it amusing that Marcoh codes his notes like recipes.

I thought there was some sort of edit on the Scar/Gluttony fight, but I'm not sure on what
(I'll have to pay attention to that on Thursday).

That's an interesting question.
I assumed the people would be killed, since they would probably need to be taken apart, so the elements in their body could be used in the process to form the stone...
I'm not completely sure why humans are the crucial ingredient
(It's either not mentioned in the series or I'm just stupid...)

On another note, it really bothers me when people drop random spoilers in this forum (even using the tag).
I mean, is that really needed?
Unless someone asks a question and really wants to know, I don't think anyone should post spoilers,
but that might be just me.

um, I know it's your opinion, but here is something I feel.
No one is making you look at the spoiler, only your own curiousity...
I still feel they should put a spoiler tag on it, but it can be up to the person if he/she wants to put a spoiler up.
..I do feel people here don't want to spoil it all for people, so they will not spoiler anything major unless someone asks.
Those who don't either have the desire to be a know it all or doesn't understand the effect it will cause. *nodd*

^@Guest above
true, it is the person's choice to read the spoiler or not.
but some people, like me, might go ahead and read the spoiler without thinking.
more than once on this site i have been half-attentively reading a thread or post and then, when its too late, i realize i've read a spoiler.
which is why i have limited myself to only looking and posting in the American Anime Viewer forum because its the least likely to have spoilers.

It was a really great episode!

Though, I had mixed feelings.

1. I thuoght it was funny
2. I thought it was it was sad at a few pionts in time
3. I thuoght it was shocking at the end

There are my three reasons and i'm sticking to them.

When I heard at the end they had to use live humans, I just stared at the TV screen with my mouth wide open
I couldn't belive it!
Sikiu-San
this was an episode i liked in the manga >w<

i am sad that scar and glutony did not fight down in the sewer ;-;
but funimation did do a good job with keeping bascily keeping it and the manga intact ^^;;
thats a funny thing when you have read the manga and watch the tv series, your just waiting for little section you read to be revieled XXDD;;

but getting back on track >>;; i
was disapointed with the fight scene in the begining and ....
*tries to think* >>;; thats was it XD;;

they did do a good job on the voices as well for a 3 new characters as well *nods* ^-^
chocolate_eds_everywhere
ya shezka read things she wasn't supposed to too.
and it is a great solution cause its giving out the message that you should be proud of your gifts.
i love the part when she is talking to ed and she goes on that daring adventure for the perfect book and they have that little box of reality. laugh.gif
