About the hair thing. I thought it said in the GuideBook. If not. I think it's in a gaiden. She grows her hair after meating Winry, probably because she thought lnog hair was pretty. And then Winry pierced her ears, just...a lot more than Riza xDDDDDDDDDDDDD

I have been reading chapter 60 in "fullmeatl alchemist manga" forum of this page and found this, posted yesterday by simargl. It's the translation of riza's tatto:
Beginning above the sigil:

About the text.. It's a traditional Christian requiem. I wonder why it's Christian though, since Arakawa-sensei says there is no Christianity in FMA..
Well, the first part fits nicely (judging by fire) but I'm confused about the rest.
Another thing: Are we absolutely sure this is the entire text? Cus all I could read was "Domine Libera me"
which means (as we all know now) Oh Lord, deliver (or free me) but also refers to Domination versus Freedom.

Well in the anime (I know I'm reaching), but I do believe in episode 46 it took me an hour to find when Izumi does tell Edward of a love letter between Hohenhiem and Dante that was dated "based on the birth of christ". Izumi explianed that it was an old religion. Maybe Riza-chan's markings are from a "old religion". I dunno just a guess.

HyugaFalcom: I have another theory, Maybe that means that Riza`s father or someone that he met came from the other world to Amestris . And knows that there`s another world, maybe Riza`s father met Hohenheim or found texts about the other world or Riza herself made contact with the other world.
Or maybe I just saying things without sense and all that you or me said are right. Now I`m really confuse and want to know why Riza has that on her back .

I was thinking that Riza should have know that her father was dieing -her expression wasn't that extreme when she saw his die- and must have put his research works on Riza's back so that no outsider can see it as he had meant to pass it down to Roy (now I wonder why not Riza, his daughter)? And about your theory, I was thinking if Riza's father has met Hohenheim, otherwise he did the research out of his own.. That's why he seemed out-of-his-mind when he made his appearance in chapter 58..

Riza said she was afraid of her father, and by the look of things, he didn't seem like a good parent. Kinda like Hohenheim. So engrossed in alchemy that he forgets he has family (Though I like Hohenheim. Riza's dad...not so much.)

Yes! Riza's reaccion was strange....
It could be because:
1) her personality.
2) some kind of "hate" (not hate, it could be something more like resentment or apathy. You know , I think that roy was more child of him than riza).
3) She had known it was going to happen.

And riza's father make me remember hoho and touker!! Bad fathers, first alchemy then family ( or never family if there is no time)

I know it's random but I've noticed... Why is it that men with problems in one of there eyes always grow their hair over it?

Roy does it, Sven from Black Cat sort of does (He does have a eyepatch and all), Hitori from Fruits basket, and Hakkai from Saiyuki... even Shaoran from Tsubasa Chronicles does sometimes.

As for Riza it's understandable that she be afraid of her father. I do believe that he forced the signia on her back. Who else would be afriad of a Crazy man who wouldn't keep logs but inscribe his work on a person his own daugther no less. (At least Scar's brother did it on his own body. Well sort of.) He probably threatened her to not show anyone her back someone worthy came along.

Are you all discussing the manga? I haven't read the manga yet, but I'm planning to read it sometime soon. So I haven't read all the posts about Riza's father and stuff, just to be sure. I think I'm gonna read it in the summer holiday, when I have plenty of time ^^ And that's when I will start with the Royai calendar too.

I have an important presentation this monday, which counts as an exam. If I don't pass, I won't be able to go to the 2nd year. I'm pretty nervous.
