: I learned the two alphabets a long time ago, but cannot speak. I can read and spell a little, but do not understand the meaning. I can’t read kanji. Japanese uses a lot of English words, so I always try to see if that’s one. They generally use English ones for goodies^^. I can read the name of the characters too. That’s all I can do. Sometimes, it’s enough and sometimes it’s not^^. I can’t for example read everything on the pages I gave: Just what the product is, and that’s enough for me. For example, I know that to see all the products (and not only DVDs or CDS), you have to click on “トップ ”, but I don’t know what it means^^…
Here is a tutorial (sorry, it’s a bit long^^…)How to search the Animate site for FMA goodies when you don’t speak japanese^^.
This shop is only in Japanese and therefore do not sell abroad. What’s the use of this tutorial then? It’s just to show you how to find the different FMA goodies there are on the site, if you want to know what is being released in Japan. It’s also to show you the pictures because some of them are really cute (like the black Hayate coaster). It’s a good way to see what they sell in Japan, and if you really want these products, you can ask you favourite shop to order them. That could be a good way to get Roy and Riza goods.
In order to find the products, you’ll have to write in Japanese and not in English.
I don’t have a Japanese Keyboard so here is what I do:
All you have to know is the name of the anime in Japanese.
Fullmetal alchemist is 鋼の錬金術師
You just have to copy and paste the Japanese name in the search part of the page and it will
show you all the products there are about the anime.
Here is a page for an example
It is, if I’m not wrong, for a B5 size sheet/ Roy and the others.
B5ノート/ shi-to (so for me it’s sheet) ロイほか ロイ= Roy but I don’t know what ほか “ho ka” means. (I found “other” in a dictionary)
Here is an example of what I do:
What I do is that I keep somewhere on my computer the names series in Japanese, and the names of characters. I also bookmarked some pages of the site, so I just have to paste the names in the “search” part of the pages. You can bookmark one of the pages I gave you and do the same^^.
To find the name of the series in Japanese, you can use wikipedia. In the search part, you write the name of the series in English, and you can find it in Japanese in their explanations^^. However, I don’t know if it works for all the series…
Example for fullmetal alchemist
Example for Gundam seed
For this one, the Japanese name is under the picture.
So, for the Gundam Seed fans: ガンダムSEED (ga n da mu SEED)
Example for Sailor Moon
So, for the Sailor moon fans = セーラームーン (Se ra mu n)
It’s not very complicated as soon as you know the name of the anime in Japanese.
The main page of the anime goodies:http://www.animate-shop.jp/webshop70/main?ctc=%2F
The main page of the site:http://www.animate.co.jp/
The main page of the site shop part:http://www.animate-shop.jp/
That’s all. I hope this will help you to find FMA goods or pictures on other sites.
