i know i saw the roy hate thread and that bothers me that people hate roy but i think it is mostly people that have seen the dub and not read the manga that particularly hate him... because they dont yet know hi.

just goes to show that all humans look at the surface of something instead of delving deeper into it.... Roy has never actually been an asshole to Ed but instead led him in the right direction all the time so that he could learn more ... and even saved his ass.... how many times? has anyone kept count?

i totally agree with all the stuff said so far. i mean, a friend of mine told me the same thing - that she didn't see anything special about roy after watching the whole anime. in fact, she said she was surprised that he was depicted as such a "one-dimensional" character after hearing me gush about him and riza. (but i have convinced her otherwise already. hahhahah!)

although i personally fell in love with roy and riza after watching just a few anime episodes, maybe it doesn't work for everyone. :D i guess the anime didn't have as much time (as the manga) to delve into other people's characteristics and personalities because of the time constraints and stuff. ^___^

ah, well. i guess it's up to us to spread the roy/riza/royai loooooove, then.

I'm so getting the novels when they come out in English. I think in Japanese they would be way too much for me, even knowing the language pretty well. X_x;;

Ummm, it looks like the thread was started in Dec. 04, then has been dormant since May of this year, but some pro-Roy new member just revived it by asking question, tho it was before the airing of ep with Ishiballans.
I've been checking the thread here and now since then, but so far I don't really see any true Roy hater posting any concrete posts. Mostly Roy supporteres posting in dffense of Roy.
I'm actually waiting to see any solid Roy hater posting some intelligent post so that I could have some insight into why someone might hate Roy, but since the thread has been revived, no such posts have been posted. Oh, well.

My feeling is that you might need certain matuality and experiences in life to get under the surface of Roy's seemingly outwardy personality, and, might need even more matuality to appreciate Roiai trust and love. I'm not talking about ones' age, only the matuality of the person, and their view of life, love, and such.

But, enough of my two cents...

Yes I was at Chibi-Pa XD I shouldn't have been hard to spot...I was mostly in the Dealer's room in tha back near the game prizes for both days. I was cosplaying as Ed and was a judge for the Cosplay Contest on Sat ("Your scene is...Sasuke caught Trespassing" XD). I was Roy on Sunday, but I was only there from 9am-1pm...in the dealer's room. I was volunteering and I thought I was going to die from the Pachinko lines x_x. You'll occasionally see me walking out to get water though XD.

I went to a Japanese bookshop in Paris today (Junku) and ordered the fourth novel.

I will receive it Friday next week. I do not speak Japanese so the only thing I’ll be able to do to help you if you intend to translate it is scan the pages… Even if there is no Royai inside, it will certainly be fun to know what our favourite colonel does during his holiday^^.

Reika, I don’t remember on which thread I read that, but if I’m not wrong, you were looking for a Fullmetal alchemist book (the DX or something like that) and couldn’t order it with akadot retail. If you want, I can try to order it via the Japanese bookshop and then send it to you.

I think, in this "holiday", Roy was sent to supervise the training of the army in another city. But those soldiers didn't even know how to hold a gun, so you can imagine the headache Roy would have in there u.u"
Later Hughes and Armstrong met with Roy, because they were investigating something (which I can't remember @_@") around there and ended up in the city's headquarters. By that time, Roy was already all stressed so Hughes suggested that they should do a hiking (haikingu? XD), instead of drinking, like Roy suggested XD.
During this hiking, they crossed a bridge that broke, leaving them on the other side and it was impossible to return from that way. While they were looking for another way, they found a small village, where mysteriously only children lived in O_o. Since it was already night they decided to spend the night there. Of course they would pay the children for renting a room, but they lost their wallets when the brigde had fallen XD. So Mustang-tachi and the children made a deal: the colonel and the others must work during one day in
exchange for food and a place to rest. Armstrong helped the kids to fix some roofs and others things in their houses, Hughes helped them with something dealing with paper (I couldn't understand this one @_@"), and Roy... well, there wasn't anything he could help with his speciality XD (and a boy began to tease him about his uselessness XD). So Roy ended helping a girl with the chores at her house, like cleaning, washing the dishes and peeling vegetables XD. But as he didn't know how to do these things, the girl (I guess Rose was her name) constantly teached him how to do each chore. Seeing the patience and kindness that she teached him, he learned that he should be more patient and kind with his subordinates too ^^.

Of course, there was much more in the novel, but I don't feel like writing all about it because I'm not entirely sure of what happened (my japanese is pretty poor) and I don't want to spoiler it if you're going to read it in the future ^^

But I can tell that in the end Roy was back at Eastern Headquarters, trying to be kind with his subordinates, but everyone treated him back like usual (and they weren't very nice XD), giving him tons of paperwork. Later Hawkeye arrived at his office, bringing a picture Hughes sent her. The picture was Roy using an apron, peeling vegetables and with a lot of bandages on his fingers XD. After a while, the entire headquarters knew about the picture, entitled now with "Roy's apron", leaving Roy all like "...no one is nice to me... T_T"
