Soooo... I was going through the themes I have written (but not necessarily posted) for my Royai 100, and I came across a theme I sort of wanted to expand on, so I wrote it. It's not blatant Royai by any means, and it's a bit of a monster (we're talking 1700 words for the story itself), but I thought I'd post it here. Takes place during Ishval, no spoilers beyond that, and is pretty self-explanatory. (i.e. You should recognize the part I made up.) Altered States of Consciousness
Warning: This does contain some slightly disturbing material (it's got Kimblee's thoughts on what he does, but not a graphic job description or worse--him doing his job), nothing sexual, and only 1 or 2 "bad" words.

Me, myself, I have it hard to categorize Royai as 'platonic love'... The nature of the platonic love has nothing to do with what we usually call "Love" to begin with. Love in the platonic sense is more of a 'force of nature' than anything else. Something that could be described as the force of gravity, for instance.
It's deprived of any sort of affection or inclination.
Plato puts love in his works as something very complex, in fact. But something that has no sexual connotation whatsoever. To understand it without understanding the concept of the "World of Ideas" is very complicated, cause Love to Plato is love towards the Ideas, not people.
And even in the common connotation of the term, it says something of a love that is partially or even completely deprived from sensuality, which is not Royai's case. There's a big difference between choosing not to enter a romantic relationship for a reason (be that a mere insecurity or something like the 'sublimation' of a feeling for an ideal) and having a platonic love.
Even without being physically together, Roy and Riza are clearly attracted to eachother physically, so it's not 'platonic'. Their 'not being together' situation is something circumstantial, something they have decided to do for a reason and, probably, if it wasn't for THAT reason, they would be together.
So, for me, for every propose, even though they don't exactly kiss or sleep together, they are a couple. A true couple.
It's deprived of any sort of affection or inclination.
Plato puts love in his works as something very complex, in fact. But something that has no sexual connotation whatsoever. To understand it without understanding the concept of the "World of Ideas" is very complicated, cause Love to Plato is love towards the Ideas, not people.

I think both of them are waiting. Neither one of them want to make the first move, as if they are afraid that making that move will destroy their current relationship. Simply to say it like this: they just don't want to pressure each other. Still seeing each other every day probably enough for them.
And about episode 62... Why Roy and Riza suddenly have those 'cool' faces?

Well, well, what do you people who understand Spanish think about the fics I wrote about here?
I want to translate some for this community (that Bahasa-English translation made me feel like "hey, Spanish-speaking fandom has made good fics too!"

What a surprise! Turdaewen has said something wonderful and in perfectly clear English!!! I attempted to reply to this in detail but it's late, and when I tried I realized there was no better way to put how I agreed into words than putting a quote bracket around your post
...I mean what about the mini skirt army, folks? He's practically Fuhrer. There's no way around it!! I mean, Roy and Riza can be physically drawn to one another without acting on it. And they don't have to be romantic in the sense of flowers and floating hearts to be totally and completely in love. When they said "they're not romantic" I think they meant in the lovey-dovey flying hearts dinners every Friday night way, rather than "they're not attracted to each other from the neck down." I think they can be completely and totally attracted to each other and in love without being "lovey-dovey romantic." They ARE romantic, but in a different way than, say, Edwin.

Ah okay.. that's roughly the same price I paid for another doujinshi... Hmmm I will start saving more money! And if I see Everlasting I will let you know!
^I have a question. How come I've never seen any of these doujinshi-whatever it's called work online? I'd have thought it would be even easier to get a hold of scans, since nearly every manga known to man is on the internet... This is a qenuine question lol, sorry if there's a really obvious answer!!

Well it depends what the movie will be about i.e. if its a continuation or a recap... we'll just have to sit and wait at this point in time.
^There's no release date for the movie yet. All we know is it's coming out some time next year.

Nobody's posted here for 4 days! *is shocked* We need some new material to salivate over have somewhat civilized discussion about! Are there any good Royai eps to be shown dubbed soon?

Well I did just watch episode 21 dubbed yesterday... and while there's very little Royai in it (even if they're standing next to each other doing nothing, its still Royai!!!), it did have the scene with Havoc in the hospital, which is one of my favorite scenes! All the voice-work sounded amazing.... especially where Havoc loses it with Mustang and Riza comes over to calm him down... Mike McFarland was AMAZING! But since I'm horrible at keeping track of the dub, I'm not sure if any more dubbed episodes were released or if that's the most recent one.

Up till now, the 1st, 2nd, & 3rd prizes for our "Thank you, Arakawa!" Fanart contest (jointly hosted by the FMA Image Gallery and the Fanart forum of our board) have been a mystery, but no more!! We are unveiling the 1st, 2nd, & 3rd prizes for the contest!!
Here are the prizes:
1st prize: 1 copy of Shounen GanGan magazine with the series final chapter of FMA manga (Yes, THE final chapter of FMA!!) along with the original bonus gift, "the series completion memorial digital clock."
2nd prize: FMA pencil case that was a bonus gift for the July issue of Shounen GanGan magazine.
3rd prize: Fullmetal Alchemist wrist band and FMA budge set that was a bonus gift for the November issue of Shounen GanGan magazine.
Here is what you need to do for the chance to win one of these prizes!!
1. Go and read July 2010 Arawaka Appreciation Fan Art Contest details.
2. Create your original fanart showing your "thank you" to FMA, or it's author, Hiromu Arakawa.
If you'd like, you can use any FMA characters from any FMA series (FMA-1, FMA:Brotherhood, FMA manga) for your fanart, as well as your depiction of Arakawa-cow figure.
3. Your fanart MUST directly show your thank-you to FMA and/or Arakawa-sensei.
4. However, no spoiler content for the FMA chapter 108 is allowed (it's because we'll have the board wide public poll as part of the judging of the winners for the contest, while many of FMA fans, including those in Japan, have not had a chance to read the final chapter of FMA manga. ^^) If you are not sure whether your fanart would be considered as "chapter 108 spoiler," then please send PM to Tombow and ask. ^^
5. Enter the contest, by posting your entry on July 2010 Arawaka Appreciation Fan Art Contest thread, and also upload the image to July 2010 Arakawa Appreciation Fanart Contest section of our Gallery by Saturday, July 31, 2010, 11:59 PM (on your time zone)

And speaking of fanfic, time for a little slightly shameless promotion! I won't put the URL in, as the fic has manga spoilers to the end, but it's under my same username on fanfiction.net and is called "Better Left Unsaid". Summary: Everyone's entitled to their own secrets, and Riza's kept plenty.
