Just don't let Armstrong help decorate. They'd end up with little statues and carvings and paintings of him flexing everywhere.

Hahaha this conversation is funny! Ed decorating Roy and Riza's house would be bad enough, but Armstrong too? Ohhh no. lol! If Roy is still blind at that time he wouldn't care, but Riza would probably get pretty annoyed. XD

Well, I'm sure that Roy and Riza would at least have a place for all those flowers provided by the Armstrong family's florist... And that at least Alex can carve a few statues for a garden.

Also, Havoc could probably acquire a few essential household goods while Fuery provides a few private lines for communication purposes. Gotta fit in a few phone calls here and there...

It's hard to say what domestic life would be like for them... they'd probably be lost thinking, uh what do we do now?
As for decoration, I'd say classic and simple is their style, with a touch of expensive taste from Roy. I'm sure his pay cheque more than allows it, and he'd want the house to be the best it can be for the two of them.

FailToImpress - Then again, Arakawa did say that Roy lives in a simple apartment with nothing more than a couch in his living room. Despite the way he acts sometimes, I think he's just as down-to-earth and simplistic as Riza

Oh of course, I think that he is very much like that... In my head I just like to think that for a home with Riza he goes all out and buys things for them both, since before they couldn't.

I mean, for all the years he and riza have served in the military, that brings a
lot of disposable income. If I was living on my own I'd do the same by having a couch in my living room and nothing else, but if I was building a home with someone I love, it'd be different.
And no, the ending hasn't sunk in for me either. I get teary eyed just thinking about it though.

The fact that the series is officially ending is
starting to sink in... but I'm still high from all the Royai, so it hasn't hit me hard yet. I'm not looking forward to the crash and burn that I'll feel once its over though. Nothing to wait for every month! How could it be?!
I will continue to draw Royai though, no matter what! And write stories and daydream about what their life might be like... ahhh I wonder how their ending will turn out to be like! I'm actually hoping there's no epilogue where they have kids and stuff... that usually ruins my imagination. It would remind me of Harry Potter's epilogue, which I still can't get out of my head. It was really disappointing. I'm not a 10-years-from-now epilogue fan. One that happens immediately after the battle would be absolutely fine though, where everyone reunites and recovers... I'd be satisfied with that. And Roy and Riza would be together, obviously!

Must draw Royai now! In preparation for Royai day and the finale!

I'm usually not into epilogues either, but, in Harry Potter's case, I could see J.K. Rowling's reasons. She DIDN'T want people messing up with her story trying to get fame for making 'new adventures', in a sense. Which I think it's nice, in terms of story, to have a definitive closure, unlike the usual "The end... or is it?" we see nowdays. Everybody these days seem to fabricate 'the other story', 'the other side', 'the things they didn't tell you' and stuff like that and it got so tiresome and pointless!
For me, that reflects a creative crisis , where people only seem to care about 'fanservice' and 'reinventing' the same stories over and over again, instead of trying to grasp the information already available. Always eager for more information in every sense, instead of trying to understand the information we already know... it makes all experiences sort of superficial. We barely 'digest' what we just ate and want new, fresh things to eat.

Turdaewen: I definitely understand the reasoning and can respect an author for deciding to give closure.. I just hate that disappointed feeling I get when my imagination hits a dead end when I'm given too much information. It's like a mental road block and I lose interest very easily after that.

jacksparrow589
May 20 2010, 03:30 PM
Really? I'd be quite surprised if he didn't at least suspect something. He's seen Izumi and Sig's devotion for each other, as well as that of Maes and Gracia, and Trisha's love for Hohenheim is the whole reason he's so pissed off at Hoho to begin with. Also, he's aware of his own feelings.
And don't forget--Winry was taken hostage for Ed just as Riza was taken hostage for Roy. I mean, Riza is a highly capable aide, but it's obvious it's something she does because she wants to, not because she has to.
Of course, with Royai, it's definitely not as "out there", but I'd bet Ed's at least wondered a time or two about just what's between Roy and Riza.

As I was drying my hair, I totally thought that, if Roy and Riza were to have any sort of wedding ceremony officiated by anyone who knew them, The whole bit you always hear (at least, in shows) about "If there is any reason why these two should not be joined, speak now, or forever hold your peace" would be replaced with, "If there is any reason why these two should not be joined, speak now, or at anytime, and you will be exiled." Dude. You just don't mess with Royai.

Hm, I can see Roy becoming excited about a wedding, more so than Riza - reminds me of giggling Roy playing with the radio frequencies and Riza's eye-roll look. This would be hilarious considering it's usually the female who embraces the day as "the special day"; seeing her be calm while he runs around being panicked and excited would make me laugh. Perhaps it would be odd to see Riza be simpering and overemotional.
As for children . . . I guess I would rather them not just do it because it's expected, particularly because of the state of unrest the country is in. Stability will not occur overnight, and having children just to have children seems quite blithe of them - I don't see them deciding in that way.
The exaggerated fraternization perspsective likely comes from the fact that power dynamics in the workplace are generally frowned upon because it can have direct influences on rank, favors, and the like. It's different if it's two officers on the same level, but for one to be in almost absolute power of the other creates a power difference that can (and is) often used for exploitation.
