Hmm... I'm not sure Olivier and Riza would be good friends, but I can definitely see there being a fair bit of mutual respect. I definitely took a look at that in a fic I wrote a little while back, although it kinda makes them out to be almost enemies. I think that they respect each other, as I said, but they're different enough to not really go beyond that.

Ah.... I would love to see Olivier, Izumi, and Riza all in the same place at once! I think that I would probably die of Awesome. Along with Roy and Ed, those three are in my top five favorite characters. I think I could see the three of them teaming up rather nicely. Too bad that Riza's too injured to do any real a** kicking at this point.... An Olivier-Izumi-Riza tag team would probably be too much to ask for, sadly.

An Olivier-Riza tag team would be awesome. But I still don't know what Riza can do after being so seriously injured. If she could get up and fight then I would be amazed.

Haha, Olivier+Riza would be awesome.
I love Gimpyhair's comic about it when Riza leaves Roy (or better said headquarters) to join Ollie.

I can totally see Olivia and Riza being friendly with each other.
And, if Riza can still fight after being injured, then I don't think it's very realistic in my opinion. She could maybe shoot but the shock of being cut can affect you a lot.

You mean the shock of getthing you throat almost sliced up and bleeding almost do death and fighting for your eyes not to close and collecting the last powers of sharing a death glare with your
love comrade? xD
She will fight.
I don't even doubt she would jump up and run after Roy in the next chapter, if no one's gonna hold her.
It's not something can happen to her now. She can faint but she won't die if her wound won't open and nobody kills her xD
The Ollie and Riza thing makes me crazy and creative.
Like imagine, Olivier will meet Riza. Riza will stand up as if nothing happened to her and will say something like "C'mon, let's safe my useless lover

"
FailToImpress
Dec 4 2009, 11:31 AM
^I don't doubt that she'd try her very best, but if your body won't let you fight then your body won't let you fight. If she was close to fainting then there's no chance, not even the strongest love can surpass the weakness in your body. It all depends on how bad the injury is, I don't think hers is
that bad so she'd be okay I think. Everyone has breaking points.

Izumi-Oliver-Riza Tag Team = The awesomeness of YRP but with more clothes on. XD
So I just had the best idea for an Omake for the end of 101, and it's actually plausible Arakawa would do it because she's a Star Wars fan. XD
*Roy is entering the gate*
Riza: I love you!
Roy: I know. *enters*
Mei: ...I've heard this before...

LOL at Roy's smug face and his hairdo! He'd make an excelent Armstrong, I have to admit... OK, maybe he needs to practice piano lifting a little but other than that, he's just perfect!
Riza and her injury: I think she's able to shoot her guns but no long running. We'll see. She didn't die and that counts.

I have my doubts as to how much fighting Riza will be doing in the next chapters. Losing that much blood seems to have made her pretty weak and shaky.
Speaking of the game, the second wii game should be out next week, so there might be of Royai from that as well, cracktastic as it may be. xD Perhaps we'll get to see Roy and Riza prancing around as Romeo and Juliet, no?

What are you guys talking about??
Pride probably entered the gate along with Wrath and Roy. He won't fight Riza. That makes no sense at all. :s If he opened the gate, he'll go along with them, just like Ed in Gluttony's stomach.
At least it's what seems like.
Moreover, there's no need for Riza to fight now, both because she's just too weak and because, well, Roy already entered the Portal. There's nothing they can do until he gets back.

Talked to my local import shop, they should be getting around the 15th or so...which means I'll probably pick it up around that time. Last time they gave me the pre-order bonus (an artbook) since it was packed in with their stuff, so hopefully they'll get something cool with the second game.
At least now I'll be able to see the context of the Romeo & Juliet scene...as well as the Harry Potter-esqe scene.

Yeah, knowing more about that Romeo & Juliet scene would make me happy, though it seems a bit too lively for R&J. I thought that the balcony scene was a bit quieter. Eh. Whatever. It's Royai--not gonna complain!
Although I'd totally love to get a screenshot and somehow blend the balcony scene text in there, but my artistic skills extend about as far as KidPix and MSPaint.

Well, probably you've read this a gazillion of time (judging by the number of pages that this thread has : P ) but also I want to leave a little comment about this two characters and their relationship.
I think that they make an awesome couple even if you don't think at them as lovers but just as comrades. They can understand each other perfectly, especially Riza, they don't need words to express their feelings and this is fantastic in any kind of relationship imo.
Anyway the box cover artwork that someone posted few pages back, is great probably the best one with Roy and Riza together

@Jacksparrow589 yeah, R+J was a tragedy, so I don't think it was as happy-happy as this shot. But I think there was an air of aloofiness to it, I can't remember.

This chapter set up the "angsty reunion and overwhelming irony" so cleverly. Well done, Arakawa.

BirdieNumNum--Well you could choose to see it that way, or you could choose to see it as they've always needed and supported each other, and now there's probably going to be a bit more of a physical manifestation to that. I'm gonna go with "bittersweet--heavy on the bitter" for this one, though.
*sighs* This chapter... I don't know whether to be depressed or overjoyed over Roy's fate, although Roy kinda had to come out alive, being the 5th sacrifice and all...

I wouldn't freak out about Mustang's fate just yet. If Ed and Al can find a way to restore their bodies I see no reason why Mustang can't somehow get his sight back too.
Edit: Thought I should add spoiler tags in case some people haven't seen the chapter yet.
jacksparrow589
Dec 9 2009, 09:08 PM
^I thought about that, but somehow, it wouldn't seem right. With equivalent exchange, he'd probably wind up sacrificing something else. I was actually talking about worrying over his fate from 101 to 102, anyway, but it's cool to see I'm not the only one with those "crazy" ideas.

It's not freaking out. But the fact remains it's all too ironic of a notion to be reversed; unless, of course, every other character scorned has the potential as well. That potential does not guarantee anything, considering the ending may not be a happy one.

I am sooooo sad. 2004!!! It's just tough to know that that's when I began following it, and then this is where it ends up for Roy. Sure, he will definitely have Hawkeye by his side, but he would have anyway. If they actually get married he would never see her in her wedding dress. If they have kids he would never get to see what they look like. And as this chapter said, he would never be able to see the progress of the country he wants to lead. Oh what a world!!
I mean we'll see what happens to turn anything around, but this is Japanese stuff. They thrive on this kind of thing.

Perhaps, but irony shouldn't come at the expense of logic. It wouldn't make sense to me if Ed and Al can restore what they've lost, but for some reason Mustang and Izumi can't.

For sure their meeting will be interesting.
The moment I realized Pride was there, I came up with a theory that he taunts her in the next chapter.
What I mean by that is that she might get pissed/upset or whatever at him being blind, and then he fires back that it was her own fault to begin with, going back to his earlier threat that he would hurt Mustang and the people around him if she revealed his identity. Probably won't happen since Hawkeye is probably aware that they needed Mustang anyway and that there is equivalent exchange involved, but yeah.
TBH, I don't know how I feel about the whole thing with Mustang in 102.

Well, that's assuming that Pride lives long enough to see Hawkeye again - I may be wrong, but he
appears to be showing the beginning signs of that Homunculi-disintegrating-death thing.
Man, when I found out what
happened to Mustang, the irony certainly was like a punch in the gut. |D But it's definitely an intriguing twist; without him, the list of ways for them to get out of there suddenly got a whole lot smaller. And of course it means another potential Royai setup upon the reunion of Roy and Riza - my guess is that she'll freak out and be all "fjdkadjk THIS IS ALL MY FAULT ;___;" even though she couldn't have done anything to prevent it.
