I've been sitting here for like... 2 hours trying to draw a cute Royai fanart for everyone.. and every time I try to start I either start semi-crying (yeah, still) or I start giggling like mad! Arrrrgh! I'll finish it sometime tonight, I swear! Ahhh.. but nothing I draw could measure up to the epicness of these scans... *-*

Yeah, I've been Royai-ing all day too.... It's difficult when you're playing the violin for a play to be obsessed, but I managed to keep up my Royai buzz because I took a picture of the hug scene with my phone, and between every song I'd look at it and kind of sigh, and then my stand partner would give me a weird look.... Totally worth it though.

I don't know about you guys but I'm totally just sitting here with a huge grin on my face. Royai is definitely a good remedy when you're tired and grumpy.

Yeah, personally I would have preferred that she lived and not be hugged over being dead and being hugged. Fortunately, she was hugged and alive!

Believe me, Japanese people don't hug people like that unless they're REALLY intimate. Not even after a person is brought back from the dead.
I thought about the "japanese culture too" but as you can see they aren't " surpraised" of hugs (I mean in manga in general, just Ed 'cause is hyper shy xDD) ...
Remember that they (the characters) are not japanes, they are supposed to be somehow more from Europe. I think that what we have to consider is the era, years taht we are situated + Roy's tends to be like "don't show feelings!" xD (so he must have been full of feeling xDDDD to finally end like that) + he is always like distant with ALL his friends and people (we have seen him beeing hugged but not hugging) + and most important , we don't have to consider the hug as a prove, a hug isolated is nothig, look back and start to join everythig and there you have xD... hahaha
ah! and also if we want to add more to the matter, remember that Roy always stays in his Colonel position ñ_ñ , not much from a Colonel.... I think that taking in consideration the last words of that page it was more like a "I really care for you".... ('cause be realistic Riza is very "direct" with her acts , but Roy as he cares for everyone, in my opinion we needed a "I care for YOU *points*) ahahhaa

And, even though FMA is not placed in Japan, the costumes of japanese 'manga' are very well present in it just the same. It doesn't mean that 'they love eachother' just as directly, but it does show Mustang cares about Riza way more than just a subordinate or even, maybe, a regular friend. I wouldn't see Roy look so worried or give such a hug on Hughes, even though they're as close as brothers.
I think Roy may even try to be very rational and poised and not show his emotions, but you get to see that, his reaction towards anything that threatens Hawkeye is a lot bigger as if it would be directed at anyone else, save, perhaps, Hughes.
So, it's not exactly just the hug, but his expressions in that entire page, their conversations and what they pass on about the depth of their relationship.
I have been gone all day, so I didn't even get the chance to freak out with everyone. Is there still room in Royai huddle/group hug for me to join?

Yes, now , knowing the ittle lines the exchange it has an "extra" point xD to the list, ahhaha.
Roy tries to hide his emotions because he is more a rational guy, but remember that somehow it can also be to protect the ones around him u.u ... (Maes doesn't count in the exception 'cause he was like a brother!)

I hope they did bring Mrs. B along, despite how illogical it is to bring another person they'd have to protect, so she can see her husband isn't who she thought he was...imo it'll be better closure for her than some stupid story or hearing it from another source, yet at the same time devastating to know she let herself be deceived by a homunculus (2 with Selim) for years.

I'm kind of wondering more about how her healing techniques work. Can she heal without knowing exactly what wrong, does she pinpoint the injury in some way first, does her technique tell her what needs healed...would she some way have found out about the burns on Riza's back? I doubt it since long-since been healed, but that would be interesting.

All this talk about Berthold's(loving his name, and thus will refer to Papa Hawkeye as it) hair prompts me to add in(like others) that it is very possible for nearly platinum blond hair to go dark with age. I used to have hair so blond it looked white when I was younger, and in the past four years it has gotten darker and darker, and now I would call it a dirty blonde.
I'm afraid I'm turning brunette, as is the fashion with women in my family it either goes brunette or auburn, auburn being what I was hoping for *sigh*

A little ranting about what Viz better not do to this chapter:
if they so much as move Bradley's swords an inch away from where Arakawa put it, like they changed Greed being hung on a cross, I will have to print out that page from a scanlation/raw and glue it in place or just buy the raw volume and print out the translation.
Also, while driving home from work the other night, I heard a relatively new song by 30 Seconds to Mars which caught my ear with one line "We were the kings and queens of promise", and it made me think of Roy and Riza...and after looking over the lyrics of all of FMA. It's called Kings and Queens. here are the lyrics and here's the song on youtube.

Hopefully we'll find that out soon and not have to wait until NEXT chapter! That would kill me!!!
At least Roy won't die yet since he's the sacrifice. And since Roy's pinned on this circle and Hayate gonna rescue him how ever how, everything is gonna be superb! xD

Something to do with using the body's own energies to heal itself. Maybe she just uses the technique to quicken the healing process, so the body would do all the work itself without having to know all the details about the wound. If it's not that, I dont think she actually heals wounds done further inside the body and can only stop bleeding by healing the surface.
I'm kind of surprised Riza can just stand back up now like nothing's happened, I thought she'd still be bleeding on the inside or be in the same amount of pain or even a little less. Oh well, it's fictional.
Oh and the thing about Viz editting the pinning scene: I dont think they will, besides it could be just coincidence that Roy lies there with his hands outstretch like that. That's actually the only way I could think of it happening plus it it's not such a big link to Christianity and all that as the Greed scene.

No adult on earth has naturally blonde hair as an adult
(okay, maybe like 1% of people) but it's a natural thing and it happens to everyone. Most of the adults with blonde hair will have dyed it, it won't be natural.Anime characters are obviously an anomaly, they have whatever hair colour they like lol. Riza would never have the colour of hair she has in anime/manga, in real life, unless it was dyed. I think she'd look nicer with brown hair.
People in Sweden and Denmark do have naturally blond hair, in my experience. But even naturally blond hair of an adult start to darken tight before it goes gray, which is Berthold's case, in my opinion.
BTW Did you notice Berthold died in the age of 45? I mean, my mother's turning 45 this year! He died quite young, considering everything. (OK, there was a lot of younger people dying of tuberculosis over the years but still...)

To bad that they cut the Elizabeth part of the Madam Christmas scene. And we still haven't seen Roy burn Riza's back.... I still think that they might add it somewhere in the future, but really, now I have no idea where they could put it.
Otherwise it was a really good Royai episode! I think that they pulled off the "they took my queen" scene really well. I wonder why in his memory Roy thought of Riza with her short haircut though.... Still, it was awesome all the same.

OT: Yep. My mom was born and raised in Danmark, and she is 51 right now with platinum blond hair with some darkening, but as a kid she had kinda straw-blond hair. I was born with chocolate brown hair and now it's like a dirty blond. O.o
Just looked at the screencaps from Ep.31. Seems like a good, plot-advancing episode - and I see the 'Queen' scene! Seems worth the watch though (after I watch Ep.30, of course XD).

Heheh! I just inwardly thought 'phwoar! *wolf whistle*' but I had to be quiet with it because it was 8:00am in the morning when it aired and my sister was still asleep. xD

As for the (lack of) the rest of chapter 101, I want it, but oddly enough not as badly as I wanted 100. I wasn't exactly surprised, per se, at the first little bit we got, but what came along with it was what made me happy.

And as for chapter 101... I'm pretty pleased with the spoiler scans, but I really want to see the lead up to the first scan where Roy hugs Riza! I want to see what the heck happened before all that.. Must have been something epic!
