Well we shall see how it goes! Apparently Riza's voice actor also did Eclaire in Kiddy Grade which got great reviews

What I think they should let us do is translate the dialogue so it stays as close to the original... and let us pick the voice actors....

oh, we'd never be able to decide on someone for an english riza (i heard they titled her as liza. i know that the l and r are interchangeable in japanese, yes, yes, but the official name is RIZA hawkeye and her name is always RIZA hawkeye on the official art and etc. you don't change it for the same reason you don't change roy to loy. riza still sounds american enough); we'd end up trying to force paku romi, kugimiya rie, ookawa tohru, and neya michiko to become fluent in english

Them changing her name to Liza made me kinda mad as well. What was the point? Its not as though it ws a name that was overly foreign or hard to pronounce! some people just can't help themselves...

yeah, when i saw her name as "riza" before the dub aired i was so relieved, but apparently they wrote her name as liza in the dub, when she picks up the phone or something? i missed that part, but i saw the commotion about it in the fm_alchemist community on lj. someone commented on it in roy's VA's journal, and apparently he thought that it was "riza" too. i prefer riza over liza by a lot, since it's the official spelling and everything, for both the japanese and the american version. the japanese official spellings are quite normal compared to that of other series, except for "tlingum." i remember scar used to be "scer" but they changed it so i'm hoping "liza" is a typo as well for the dub. i don't feel that liza is a lot more american than riza is, and don't think that funimation should feel like they have to americanize names. a lot of misinformed people think that her name's actually elizabeth (a manga-only codename...) and therefore liza, but her name's not elizabeth! it's RIZA! i'm sure there are people out there named riza, too.

well, at least it's not lisa. i know a lot of fans spell it like that, and there are people who spell it as risa too, but geez, you can't change a "za" to a "sa." if the "za" character didn't have the extra ", then it'd be sa. but it's not.

It simply...suits her, like Lisa/Liza don't. "Riza" is kind of sharp, and slightly different - not to the point where people question it, but just so that it gives her a unique flavor. "Lisa" and "Liza" (pronounced lee-zah), however, are rather childish, while "Liza" (pronounced ly-zah) is...sleazy.

So - 'TIL THE DAY I DIE.

Ugh, that irritates me so much...now the newbies are going to use "Liza" in fanfiction >.< It just doesn't sound right to me.

It's certainly bizarre that they wrote Liza, I could have swore it said Riza. But regardless it must be a typo because Funi has Riza all over their site Oo We never heard her name spoken aside from being called Hawkeye

perhaps i'm being a little too paranoid on this, but is anyone else worried about what's going to happen when roy and hawkeye are shown and the n00bs discover this thread? i mean, i'm looking forward to new fanfics and fanart and etc, but the fandom has always held roiai as a sort of....dunno the word, pure relationship. i'm hoping i'm not going to see a lot of "roy iz a playa hedeosnt love hawkye,he just screwz her 4 fun" stuff. maybe there's already stuff like that out there, but i'm pretty much expecting it now that FMA's showing in the US.

oh good grief, i've got so many accents i do... i work at an international airport, so sometimes i make boarding announcements in funny accents, and people think it's serious! i made an announcememnt once with a russian accent and this old woman started asking me where i was from! O_o it was hilarious! i personally like british and indian accents the best. they're the most fun.

and yes, i sure hope we don't get flooded with a barrage of mary-sueXroy fics... dear god...ff.net is bad enough, if they start coming here... *cannot even imagine the horrors that will lead to...*

actually, i tried once, there was a competition, but i got beat out. *pout* i don't even really know what official channels one has to go thru to do something like that, i saw the contest as a good opportunity, but once it was over, the official people disappeared like roaches and i didn't even get to ask them how someone even auditions for something like that...

One of my old friends could do about every accent...I don't know if he still can cause we're not exactly friends anymore, but he used to be really good at it.
