As for the Royai, EVERYTHING needs to be included. At least the essential parts tongue.gif

I'm sure they'll be there as the history between Roy & Riza is pretty significant to the manga's storyline.

The nice thing about animation is that emotions can be conveyed much more strongly than what is originally depicted in a drawing. Little things like a subtle quirk of the lips, a flash of a smile, a shine to the eyes, or the hint of a blush on the cheeks can enhance the emotions conveyed.

...Now apply this to your favorite manga scenes and think happy thoughts to soothe away the needless worry. happy.gif

Just the mere thought of this puts me in a good mood... good way to start the week wink.gif
black~hayate
Me too! I got a good mood...
Imagine, Roy sitting with the telephone in his hands, talking with "Elizabeth", inviting her to fishing~
Flirtin around, the look on his face, when it's animated~
Riza being all concentrated about Gluttony and Barry's body...
after a while her yelling at her Colonel, calling him idiot~ aww, it will be so cute~
What's the next Royai Scene? in the new Anime? Probably "you are useless in the rain"... or?

... then the movie came and I'm like "WTF?!?!?!?!? THIS CAME OUT OF NOWHERE!" >:[

I'm also trying to convince my friend the manga is waaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyy better than Anime1. He won't go for it cuz he's too into anime1... even though I was practically the one who introduced FMA to him... crazy kid

The Chibi party is ok though. I like how Riza avenge for herself by saying, "I can't put my thanks to the staff into words ... but i was able to cut the thread of fate. From now on, I will look for my own personal happiness."

You guys should look at Roy's face. He looked so doomed.

Roy attributes all his ego and his actions to the director. laugh.gif

This thread is still really active and that makes me happy. I think that the second season is going faster because they are trying to get through the back stories. The first anime did have some fillers before the back stories of characters came in because the manga had not reached those points. Now we have a lot of story to see animated.

I hope that we have all of the manga royai moments, and that they don't get screwed up.
CodenameElizabeth
Whole entire Barry the Chopper segment in the manga was pretty epic. Can't wait to see that AND the Ishbal flashback-- still one of my fave segments of the manga. And not ONLY because I got to see MOAR HUGHES (although, I admit, that part was AWESOME) but because it filled in so much important background information. Even for the more minor characters (Basque Grand, the Rockbells, ScarBro...) This stuff is going to be GREAT animated.

Chibi-Party = BEST THING TO COME OUT OF THE WHOLE FMA MOVIE FIASCO.
Winry getting drunk and being all jealous over Ed and Noa was WIN.
(Just WTF was up with Riza's little cheerleader outfit in that anyway? I LOL'd hard. I mean goddamn. It was PINK. Seriously.)
black~hayate
Don't forget the Black Hayate army in the chibi party.
And Riza's dirty looks she shot to Roy, her eyes were saying "wanna loose another eye??? >:D"
Makika
Yeah, the movie were a fiasco.

I was so excited and happy because I thinked Roy and Riza ends the anime together, but I was "angry" because Ed and Al ends the anime in two different worlds.
So, I saw the movie, waiting for a happy end for the brothers, but in the movie I saw Roy and Riza separate and think: WTF? (they wasn't together????!) and for complete my day, the Elric Brothers ends the film in other world (together, but away from his own world).
After that I searched desesperate for other end, because it's impossible a end worst than that movie end, so I find the manga, which history was completely different from the anime. And I finnaly, after start reading, I realize that the manga is much better than the anime.

Now we have the new anime, I hope they continue following the manga history, I had "FMA's anime trauma" enough for one life. shuihsuishis
Next chapter military dogs scenes *-* Own
Kale Mustang
I thought that the movie was alright for the most part, but thought that the film tried too hard to wrap up all of the dangling plot-points from the original series.

And yes, Chibi Party was the best thing to come out of it.
Makika
I laught a lot in Chibi's party...

That Hayate's Army.. oh, so good! hsihsuis
black~hayate
I liked the second OVA, too, Roy being wet from water again and Riza protecting him *rofl*

Don't you guys think that the 4 minutes plus OVA better than the one hour long movie is way too ridiculous?

It almost seemed like the director wanted to butcher every royai fan then honored them with a 4 minutes short OVA on their graves.
Makika
The OVA Kids was cute too..
A little bit sad because if the kids are there means that
person is already dead in the "other" world.
(works in that way, isn't works?)

Roy was there, Riza won't :XXXX

And I think little Ed was there because even the
really Ed is not dead yet, in the other world he
don't exist anymore, so he re-reborn in our world
because it's like he is dead in his own world.

(And this OVA were made before the movie, weren't it?)
black~hayate
No, they were made after the movie.
Kale Mustang
The Kids OVA was very cool and it was nice seeing seeing how they interwove FMA into the real world. Despite seeing Ed at the end of the OVA, I always thought that the kids weren't anybody's kids in particular ('Grandpa Al' could have really been Al or simply some elderly man whom the kids call 'Grandpa') but just happen to look like the characters.

It was nice touch seeing younger versions of Roy, Breda, Falman, & Havoc as well as Hughes as a police officer.
black~hayate
Now I really think that the Regisseur hates Riza.
The new series are from the same one?
Turdaewen
I don't know why people tend to think the Children OVA as a part of the story... I mean, it's a special!! It doesn't NEED to make any sense!
For me, those kids were just to make it look cute and to make a connection with our world, as some people stated.

And I thought the Chibi party was really funny. Completely curious, but cute! lol Very japanese style, these OVAs, in fact. They really do like to mess up with their characters.

And yeah, the movie was a fiasco for Royai fans. :s

And Black Hayate, you mean the director for CoS and the one for this new series?? No! They're two completely different people.
black~hayate
That's good to know =)
(I'm leaving for today, bye bye)

Well, since FMA is more shonen than anything, I'd say that if the girl (who happens to be a very close friend of yours) calls you 'useless' or throws a wrench at your head, then those should count as romantic moments.

Heck, when I was six or so, I knew the moment I started dumping sand, occasional hits/knockdowns, or just general name-calling on some girl I thought was kinda pretty (and didn't have cooties) and she would do the same things back to me - I knew we were going to be great friends. laugh.gif

Remember me from ten pages ago? LOL You guys are leaving me behind...I'm drowning in all of these pages...

A lot of good things were mentioend, though. I loved the fan art posted inspired by chapter 94 and the other one that someone said they wished would happen once Roy calms down.

I love the mental image someone mentioend of Riza kissing Roy back to his senses LOL he'd snap out of it, but then we'd all go insane instead! That'd never happen, but hey, something to daydream about next time I get bored in Chem LOL

And I liked what was mentioend by...God, I can't remember who said what because there was so much...well, someone mentioned a series of options of what Arakawa would do for us next chapter that made me feel a little more optimistic. Same goes for the list of reasons Riza said that bizarre line last month (Arakawa is teasing us, she must think this is so funny. I've never fallen so badly for an April Fool's joke before)

As for the anime2...they better not mess anything else up. I mean, if they're going to put all this work into making a series for the manga fans, why not just make it after the manga for crying out loud? Changing things around seems pointless. Some people have said to me that Riza's line about protecting Roy was just one small moment that doesn't matter, but it is the basis of their entire relationship IMO It just sums up everything in one sentence, "there is someone I need to protect until he accomplishes his goals" It reflects into the past and onto the future of their relationship. I personally think it was very important.

Seemed to work when I was a little kid. I stayed friends with many of them throughout the years and we usually laughed about it when looking back on how we met.

Besides, we boys tend to fall back on our more 'caveman' instincts and do plenty of stupid things - I think we're hardwired that way... tongue.gif
Tombow
@RoyxRizaFan - I agree. That line is such a crucial comment by Riza, IMO. sleep.gif

And, "yes" to "throwing a wrench can be a sign of sexual tension" theory. tongue.gif
And, this goes right back to Roy's teasing about Riza's tears, IMO.
Yeah, I think we made a full circle. biggrin.gif

BTW, my complimant to Liz for catching about Riza's uniform when they visited Ed & Al!! I didn't notice it till it was posted here. (Heh, I know I'm very late to comment on it, but you guys are going so fast here these days!! XD)

I think I see a Royai movie in the making. There is this new movie coming out called "Obsessed", and I was just thinking, Riza can't be in the Military forever. She is going to have to retire sometime, so when she does, (When there married and start having kids) and Roy becomes Fuhrer, he is going to need a secretary. So yeah. Here is the trailer to explain more what I am talking about:

@Tombow:

Yep.

Since I'll completely admit that I am fairly dense at times when reading emotions (mostly of the female variety), sometimes a little physical violence or just plain insults will get the brain going. laugh.gif

...this manner of thinking seems to be the same for Ed, Al, & Roy.
RoyxRizaFan
Things like throwing wrenches could be considered comedy relief, but we see it as an EdWin thing because they do it all the time. And I guess you could argue something like, "You wouldn't throw a wrench at a complete stranger" but I shouldn't have used this example because throwing wrenches is not normal LMAO For them it is, because magically they don't suffer brain damage.

As for the uniform, that's the one I cosplayed last year, so this is a little disapointing. She looked cute in it. Thanks for pointing that out!

I wonder if the reason that the movie pretty much ruined Roy and Riza's relationship is because Arakawa has a better way for them to end up. I sure hope so. Sometimes I think that she has forgotten something, or is not going to mention something again, but she does.

Ex. The reference to Riza's tears in chapter 93. I just love how they were outside of the lab and she cried in 39. 93 and 39 are reversed, so I always wondered if that was suppose to mean something. It only took Arakawa like what 60 chapters to reference that moment?

Did anyone see the live action fma ova? I remember seeing it with a friend without subtitles and we cracked up at the end. That OVA could only work with Al to be funny.

Yes, they shouldn't. But I'm not that unhappy with the changes they made up until now. I only think they cannot take all that many details once they reach the heart of the story, after lab5 and everything

And then, again, wasn't that line from Riza a translation error?? I mean, she did say "There someone I need to protect." though they translated like 'there are people I need to protect'. Wasn't it?? O.o I'm confused, now...
But I agree that that line if MAJOR to understand the hole character of Riza and her relationship with Roy.

I wanted to comment on the Chibi Party OVA, then I found that y'all had digressed. Well, I'm still gonna get my two bits in on that discussion: I LOVE Riza's little evil chuckle at the beginning. Roy's reaction cracked me up. Same with Riza "cutting the thread of fate". I was going "Noooooo!" and laughing at the same time.

Now, back to the "Someone I need to protect" vs. "Some people I need to protect" discuccion: Someone makes it SO much clearer, AND is the basis for the lovely thing that is Royai, as has been stated.

Um, that's actually all I've got for now.

When it comes to things costume-related, of course I'll notice! Haha!!

I really need to find another reason to wear that costume (dress-uniform). I need MOAR PICS of it.
I also have a hat that I keep MEANING to re-finish to make it look like the formal hats the guys wear in certain artbook pics. I know the women are never seen wearing them, but damn, if they aren't cool as hell. And I want one. It is just that I know NOTHING about hatmaking, and refinishing a hat intimidates me.

OH JOY!
That's good coz it sounds extremely official, hu hu hu. I still think that that 'people' in certain fansubs was a translation mistake though :S

I need to rewatch the second episode and SQEAK loudly when I hear her say that, since last time I was disturbed by the translation...

Yes, I guess they have, because in her japanese line (if my japanese is not getting the best of me XD), you can translate either as ONE person or SEVERAL people, which mean that if the person who has translated it is not familiar with FMA and doesn't know about that particular relation between Riza and Roy could easily get mistaken.

(Is that correct, tombow?? I'm not fluent in japanese, so I still get very confused by it, sometimes XD)

And I do LOVE your avatar!!! Where did you get it??? *.*

For little things (alright, it's a BIG thing to the Royai legion) like this, that's what's been bugging me about the fansubs (despite the fact I'll still watch them) and what makes the official subs from Funimation so much better. At times, the fansubs seem kinda inconsistent with certain translations of certain words while Funimation's have been consistent (and more professional).

But... when you can't see the Funi-subs, like me, you need to rely on fansubs and that's one of the problems *sigh*

@Turdaewen: Got that from my fanart collection lol, it's from a site that's closed down, had really fantastic fanart *__*

I attached the full version of the pic smile.gif

That is really lame and unfortunate. Hypothetically, there might be a way to download the stream (I'm guessing it's a .flv file), but it might be more trouble than it's worth.

Perhaps someone can get transcribe the Funisubs?

I cannot see Funisubs, too -.-
The picture is great! Roy, put Riza some clothes on!

Yep, it's very beautiful... and reminds me of the florist-phone call scene *___*
Tombow
@Turdaewen - Yap totally correct. ^^

And, I agree with what others have posted on this. ... Unfortunately, the quality of translations for fansubs vary widely, so, if you're watching the episodes on fansub, I highly recommend to try to find fansubs that are done by people who care about FMA. And, one way to find out that is to sit down, and get some time aside, then watch an fansub FMA episode with the corresponding manga chapter(s) on the side, and compare the translations, especially on some well-known lines and phrases (this was recommended by my friend, and I agree. ^^) And, if you see some bad translations, like that fansub that translated Riza's line with "people," IMO that a big red flag to avoid any future episodes from that fansub group. OR, ask someone who is an FMA fan, and who can understand Japanese well, AND have a good knowledge about fansub groups, such as AA battery, for her recommendations on the good fansub groups. smile.gif
