I make up my own Characters for anime that i love.
My Fma person, is (this might sound crazy) lust's daughter .
born through alchemy.(sounds creepy?) and in a bizzare cast of events in an alchemic reaction,
he is lust's blood daughter.
Her name(lust's kid made up of course) is Shifter.

Meh. I'm careful to the point of paranoia with creating original characters. They turn into Sues far too easily. So far the only original characters, besides the occasional background blender-inner, that I've created for fanfiction have been a skinny, shortsighted Ishbali alchemist-wannabe, and my own personal projections of the Elrics' future children.

Agreed. Original characters can become Sues (or Stus) waaaay to easily. However everytime I write fanfiction for an anime (usually) I include original characters. So there's nothing wrong with them... you just gotta be very careful with how you use them.

Suess? What does that term mean? (I know it is Dr. Suess reference but what does it mean?)

Name: Sarah
Description: Average Height, jet black hair with blue sheen, glacial green eyes, wears glasses, a few freckels, wears a lil above knee length skirt (beige-brown, neutral color), and a dark grey sweater with the Fuhrer's crest on her left (our right) side of her chest. She is wearing a button down shirt with her collar open. Knee length socks and brown shoes. She has lil longer than shoulder length hair. She is a student of Central High (sorry couldn't come up with better high school name) and is the top of her class (explains school uniform).

She starts becoming interested in Ed when she sees him treveling around town, going in and out of official state buildings. She comes up to him and starts bugging him. He tries blowing her off but she charms her way into staying with him. She takes a look at his metal arm and explains to Ed that the work is shotty O_O She upgrades his arm with a higher grade metal and more durable. She follows on their journey as their mechanic kind of girl and makes Ed stuff that he doesn't seem to care about, but Al has taken a liking to her. He blushes and gets fidgety when she talks to him and Ed sees it. Sarah and Winry kind of passively fight over Ed time to time but Winry usually just takes Ed by the arm and rushes him away. Sarah also understand basics of alchemy and is a math wiz so she can create trans circles and improve others sometimes.

^Sorry if that sounds really cliche (which it does ) but Oh well, I never said I was good.

Interesting, but...I can't agree about the "shoddy" automail. Winry's workmanship is spectacular. Ed has shattered other people's automail simply by closing his fist around it and squeezing. Whatever you do or don't believe about their personal relationship, Ed has repeatedly called her the best automail mechanic he's ever known. Her one slip was the time she forgot to install that bolt, but that had nothing to do with workmanship. It was an upkeep mistake, that's all.

The idea that this girl can work automail better than Winry is definitely a Sue trait. I'm sorry, but it is.

In the story involving future children, Al and Elysia Hughes have three girls and a fourth baby on the way (Al is hoping shyly for a boy this time). Ed and Winry have one child, Kybright (Ky for short), a boy nearly the same age as Al and Elysia's youngest girl. No names for the girls yet, but I'm debating naming the oldest one Trisha.

The Ishbali girl is about seventeen or so, a few years older than the Elrics at the time of the fic. She's slightly taller than Ed, thin and round-faced, has dark hair and red eyes (par for the course for Ishbalis), and tends toward the loose, draping clothing typical to her people's women.

Her grandfather was an alchemist who came to Ishbal hoping to spread alchemy and ended up giving it up to marry an Ishbal woman. She loved his stories of alchemy as a child and stole his books when he died, before her mother could find and burn them. Her father and grandparents are dead and she lives with her mother, who is a typical full-blooded Ishbali and hates alchemy. She has no idea that her beloved daughter practices it in secret.

Her dream is to someday win her people's approval for the Great Art, but she is deathly afraid to reveal her secrets. Her talents are uncertain; she is self-taught, undeveloped and certainly not State-level. She sometimes inks simple transmutation circles on her shoulders and arms, but doesn't dare tattoo them permanently, for fear of their discovery. She meets Ed and Al because she pickpockets some vials of red tincture from them on a train, curious and wanting to experiment with the fabled liquid.

...I don't have a name for her yet. Any suggestions?

The only characters that I have made up are most certainly not Sues, one hasn't even been born yet. My Munich man is evil plain and simple. He doesn't do alchemy (mainly as I'm too afraid of writing something wrong) but he's involved within the plot of the other characters (the originals)

I prefer to stick with the 'alter-ego' characters. That way you have your basic character but you can modify to fit in with your story.

As I said Ed and Winrys baby hasn't been born yet so I havn't developed her character. It will be hard to avoid making a Sue...but I will try my best. No name as of the moment, but it'll be something old English (like her father).

right now the only story i have with an OC is Shinkume...which...i know, i haven't updated in like a month. i apologize... u__u i've been caught up in the roiais that keep flooding my alleged mind. XD

anyway... i guess i can spill some dirt about ren without giving too much of the story away...

description: Ren stands about 5'1" (~155 cm), so...she's really only got a couple inches on Ed... she's stocky, muscular, with legs that could easily kick the crap out of you (and several other people subsequently) and a grip that leaves people wincing when she shakes hands. however, you wouldn't know she's an Ishbalite by the look of her. while she has bronze skin, her eyes are green, and her hair is light streaked with darker brown in no particular pattern. no one in the town she dwells near knows her true roots, and needless to say that the Elrics are pretty shocked when they learn the truth...

personality: ah...Ren has a tendency to give even Edward a run for his money...in particular when the chosen battlefield is armed with insults to be slung. she's fiercely competetive, has a bit of an attitude problem, and is...well...let's just say we wouldn't see her dining with the queen. she's crass and street-tough, as a result of growing up with a father and a younger brother, and no real female role model to emulate. she even talks like a boy (in Japanese vernacular, the speech of men and women differ remarkably) and Edward adores teasing her for this. she's a total tomboy, and she'll give you the worst tongue-lashing of your life if you cross her (and that's if you're lucky and she doesn't just kick your ass), but she's actually not a bad person, if you can believe that. she lost her family in the Ishbal War, and thus chose to change her appearance (via means i cannot divulge for fear of spoiling the fun) and take up life in the town that was erected near the grounds where her village once stood. a bit of a social outcast (probably mainly the fault of her foul mouth and violent tendencies), Ren finds no solace in the company of other people... she does have a cat, though, named Icarus...who Al of course takes an immediate liking to. her goals now that she has been integrated into the throngs of Sunaba is to keep sacred the ground upon which her people died...which is turning out to be a far greater chore than she had hoped...

though the Ishbal religion bans the use of alchemy, Ren *is* an alchemist...though she has never really been taught the art. born with transmutation arrays tattooed on her hand (and there is a story to go with this, but i can't tell you here, it's too spoilerific), she had an inherent ability to manipulate elementals, and after the death of her father and brother (and everyone else in her village), she spent her time honing the ability to a fine point; so fine a point, in fact, that she can basically levitate by concentrating on the density of the air around her.

ah, i dare not really say much more for fear of spoiling what lies ahead... heh, once i get some more of Pegasus knocked out, i'll get up the next chapter of Shinkume, i promise!

funny thing, tobu-chan, it seems we think a lot alike. XD our Ishbal girls sound like they'd get along great, don't you think? as for a name...i...really can't say. ah...Ishbal names are sort of...noninclusive, if you know what i mean... in fact, *all* of the names from hagaren have seemed to be from no culture in particular... i tend to think that Ishbalites fit best with unusual or exotic-sounding names... i chose Ren for mine because a.) it was simple, straightforward, and kind of blunt, like the character... and b.) i just like that name... ;; but your character seems a bit more...ah... well, Ren is just frank and guileless, and your character seems to have a little more stealth and tact to her, so i would have to think that a more flowing, elegant, rolls-off-the-tongue kind of name would suit her better. i'm seeing a...perhaps a variation of Natalie, or something french-sounding...? or if she's a bit of a pickpocket or having delinquent tendencies thus...even only on a playful harmless level...maybe something short and fun that can easily derive a nickname?

Shifter is my 2nd fma character. my first is a girl who has a little crush on Al.She has short term memory loss and is a tomboy. She's kinda like winry cause she specialises in mechanical things.

I made up 2 characters, one is a girl who wants to protect ed because he is a state alchemist, but she is only really good at ealing and maybe a little alchemy.

Mary sue-ish characters are those that either end up liking the main characters (ex: Ed, Al, Roy, Riza...etc) or having a relationship with them. Those original characters got labeled like this because in most cases, the original character is the authoress/author herself/himself fantasising to be with the anime/manga character. (and for some more immature writers, they focus on writing fluff between the OC and the main character which makes the story, really boring and a pain to read... so if you see people saying "I HATE MARY SUE-ISH FANFICS" that's what they meant.)

Altho, I have seen some really good fanfics with OC that doesn't start their own love relationship with the anime/manga charactert... just keep in mind that, if you do want to make your OC in love with the anime/manga character, don't put fluff only. You need a good plot line so that the readers won't feel that this is a bad mary sue fanfic.

Actually, Mary Sues are any original character that's ridiculously overpowered, overpopular, or overimportant, usually because they are the self-projections of fantasizing authors. The male equivalents are Marty Stus or Gary Stus (the terms mean the same thing).

Even canon characters can start to act like Sues/Stus in fics. For example, if Winry suddenly learns alchemy as well as automail, dons a blue trenchcoat that matches Ed's, and kills half the Homonculi because Ed is busy crying helplessly in a corner, she has been viciously Sued.

The curse of Mary Sue. She attacked me in a Harry Potter fic I wrote. Unfortunatly the idea was for her to seem Mary Sue but that it all went pear shaped. Ah well, can't win 'em all.

Erins code name is the metal alchemist! I know sounds alot like Eds codename,but that was kinda the point,I made it like that so it confused the Elrics.The reason she has that name is because she is good at working on the military michinary.The Elrics feel sorry for her because lust killed her yuonger brother the year they wre suppose to take the alchemy exam.And he was all she had,they had livedin an orphanage before her brother died,and before she had became a state alchemist.Sad yet most of the time the sad chain of enents that happens when the caracters are little,are what make the story.Just look at the Elrics.

I haven't made any original characters, but if I do it'll be some random person of unspecified gender who just appears, hugs Ed, calls him short and dissapears before he/she can have the smackdown laid on him/her. *cough*

Personalty:He's very headstrong an doesn't take shit from anyone, which has made him unpopular with other officers. He's especally unpopular with Basqe Grand, who he has repeatedly bucked heads because Grand thinks he's reckless. He loves swords, which is why he carries the dual katanas.

History: At 21, he joined the State and became friends with Roy Mustang. He has the "power" to
control metal and rock, not to mention he can make any part of his body a bladed weapon or armor using the rock or metallic objects in the near vicinity. Also, he can make earthquakes by stabbing his blades into the ground.
He fought in the eastern rebellion of Ishvar, but was dishonorably discharged 9 months after the war when attacking a comanding officer because he overheard the officer bragging about raping some sand bitch in Liore. Eric snapped, remembering the horrors he himself had done in the war, and was sentened to 40 years in prison. The incarseration led to escape 3 years later when another prisoner blew up part of lab 5 and he fled. Now he's returned to the military under a different identity with the help of a certain Colonel who convinced them of his death at lab 5. His only goal in life is to make up for the horrors he created during Ishvar, and he is loyal to Colonel Mustang until death

I had a couple. My most recent one, I'm thinking of renaming. I just couldn't seem to come up with a name that wasn't already taken, or didn't sound ridiculously sue-ish. (And her name is technically taken, but by a character who makes a 30 second appearance. )

Appearance: ... Not much thought in that area. She has brown hair; I know that. And she has a rather tired appearance mostly due to the fact that she's loyal to her duties to the point of obsession, and has strained herself immensely over the years.
Past: Trained in the military from a young age, she became close to Martel. (Very close. Fraternization style close) Upon losing Martel, she turned to science almost as a faith, and tried becoming a state alchemist. After several years of failing, she gave up on it, and instead dove into the obsession of being a good soldier.
Other significant traits: She dies.

I liked Hagane No Renkinjutsushi's formatting and description very much.

I have only a few made-up characters for FMA, but the only times I use made-ups are to use them as extras/expendable people in fanfics or for side characters in my roleplay plots. And most of them either turn out evil or die in a huge explosion/gun fight/alchemy fight xD I never keep them alive for long, unless I want them to live.

I want to post a few of the profiles down...but they're sorta long when put together xD Oh well, I'll put them in anyways. These are three of my made-ups in my one-on-one roleplay. The first two are already dead (result of one of my finished plots) and the second one is still alive (part of another, seperate plot that's still going). I play them along with the character I mainly roleplay as, Winry, while my friend plays Ed and Al.

Name: Terun Knon
Age: 34
Occupation: Former state alchemist, doctor
Personality: {Pre-plague} Kind, considerate {Post} insane, cruel
Desc: Stringy brown hair, narrow glasses, tall and lanky
History: Terun Knon used to be a very valued member of the military, because he was both a doctor and an alchemist and his is special abilities were in the developing art of biological warfare. But, after returning from the frontlines, he found out that his fiancé was deadly sick. Trying to create a cure for his fiancé, he stumbled upon the fact that children were flexible to his diseases. So, thinking it would help him save his love, he began to experiment on them for an antidote. The military caught wind of this and fired him, banning him from using the military labs. Right afterwards, his fiancé died. Thinking it was the military's fault that she died, he slowly slid into depression and, eventually insanity, swearing to take revenge on them by creating the perfect biological weapon and infecting all of the military with it.

History: Chloe met Terun when she was only 22, starting out in her job. He was stopping by her town on military assignment and she immediately became infatuated with him, unbeknownst that he had a fiancé and how it would eventually turn out. Terun left, and she continued with her life, until he showed up on her doorstep four years later. He wanted her to infect the children of the town for him with his experimental disease and, in return, he would give her the love that she wanted. Not knowing how it would turn out, she immediately agreed and began administering the disease to the children that stopped by the inn. The disease was one that caused the child to go under immense pain and delusions, often pushing them into insanity and, eventually, suicide. Eventually, she began hating what she was doing, but loved Terun too much to go against him. That all changes when the Elric brothers show up with a sick Winry Rockbell, who happens to be another victim of Terun's disease

Desc: Long, slightly wavy, ivory hair, purple eyes, tall and lanky
History {Not much here because I still have to reveal his history to my friend xD}: Shai's the magician's assisstant at the 1000 Souls Carnival. His uncanny skills in magic and mysterious charm make him irresistible to most women, making him arrogant and egostical. Because of his lax carnie lifestyle, he doesn't take most things seriously: he's a carefree little bugger that often likes to get on Edward's nerves just for the heck of it. To most people, he seems like a ditz and none too smart, but past his exterior, Shai can be surprisingly thoughtful, understanding most people better than they understand themselves. He has a bit of an odd past behind him, one that the Elrics have yet to figure out.

(Light spoilers) The fuhrer, for certain reasons, is unable to have children of his own. He has one adopted son named Salem, who is about 8 years old, so I don't think he's reproduced recently, nor has he partaken in Ishbal.

CHILDHOOD SWEETHEART :
Jean Havoc. Apparently, they had a relationship lasting for 5 years, until Jean left for military, leaving Elise behind. Both made promise that they would meet again in military. Why were they so close? Jean was the only guy in Elise's village to beat her in an arm-wrestling match. Sadly, it seems like Elise was Jean's only long-term girlfriend. Elise & Jean meet their promise as they embrace each other in front of everyone in Roy's office. Finally, some hope & luck for Jean.


PERSONALITY:
Elise grew up as a tomboy, only hanging out with boys. Never had a girl for a friend until Riza & Winry came along. That made her, well, rough & tough. She's mischievous and very sly. Evil at times, too. No ones knows what kind of ideas she comes up with in her clever mind. Quite rebellious at times. Can get very, very serious (up to the point of anger and venting). Fierce in battle. Out of control at times, when dealing with stress and pain. Loyal and respectful to her superiors. Always tries to bring a smile to anyone's face. Highly protective of loved ones. Can have a temper hotter than the face of the sun. Determined and confident in herself, as well as others.


HISTORY:
Elise Athena Dagger was born on June 30th, in a small town east of Central City. Her mother was the “Summoning Alchemist”, and her father, the “Sword-Shifting Alchemist. Of course, being former National State Alchemists, they were determined to train their daughter to become one as well. During her fifteen years of her life, Elise discovered a shocking ability: Being able to summon and extract a sword of any size through the palms of her hand without a transmutation circle and clapping her hands to release a horde of knives. After taking blood tests, it was then clear that Elise had alchemy blood in her. Alchemy blood is an extremely rare type of blood that is very uncommon among people. As a matter of fact, one out of two million people had this blood type. It is unknown how they have it. Transmutation circles are never needed with Alchemy blood. Elise was lucky. For fifteen long years, Elise was home-schooled and worked with alchemy in her home. The young girl learned how to control her sword-summoning powers. Along with that, she was finally able to summon swords with a special transmutation circle on them. [A/N: I got the sword-out-of-hand idea from X/1999. You know, Arashi Kishuu? xD] This certain transmutation circle allowed Elise’s swords to slice through anything, even cement. Unfortunately, at the early age of fifty, Elise’s parents slept away, never to be awaken again. No one knows what took their lives away at such a young age, but rumor has it that they gave up everything to devote and dedicate their lives to Elise. They were laid to rest in peace in Central City.

After weeks of depression and sadness, Elise continued her learning with her aunt, Izumi Curtis. Also a teacher specializing in fighting skills, Izumi trained Elise to become a swift, concentrated fighter. For the next five years, Elise went through hell. Izumi did whatever it took to make Elise strong and powerful. It was her job to carry on the young rebel’s parents’ task of making Elise greatly reliable and influential. During the downtime, however, Izumi treated Elise like her daughter. They shared many precious moments together. The pain and agony, however, paid off. In the third rematch of the “final battle”, the battle which Elise had to win to go off and take the Alchemy Exam, Elise finally defeated Izumi. With permission to leave her aunt, Elise set forth to Central City to take the Alchemy Exam.

Bio: She is Ishbalin. Her Family and friends were all killed when Ishbal was attacked,but she had managed to escape and survive the attack. Mayu filled with sadness for the ones that she cared for being killed was brought into a fiery hatetred of all State Alchemist and the military.For it was Alchemy and the military that killed all the ones she loved,and lost her home. Mayu now searches the land of any State Alchemist's or those of the military to put them to an end and take revenge for her loved ones.
Skills: She uses throwing daggers as her weapons and has great aim with them,strong endurance espically when running,and hand-to-hand combat skills

Personality - Normally very hyper, but can be calm. Takes a sketch book with her everywhere and draws random things. Has an obbsesion with cats and shiney objects. Very smart, but slow on some subjects and easily confused.

Hometown: She pretty much travels everywhere.
Alchemy skills: The same as Scar's... only she uses her leg.
Breif bio: She was born in Ishbal with her twin sister, Oona. She was an apprentice to Scar's brother then soon dated Scar. Violet worked at a cheap cafe to support her family since her mother was dead and her father was a drunk. That was where she met Scar's brother who gave her an offer she couldn't refuse. She had a very close relationship with her sister Oona who died from a rare illness that caused her system to slow down. After that her spirit was crushed and she felt as if she could no longer go on. She killed her father using alchemy that Scar's brother had taught her to make it look like the military killed him. Then she lived with Scar's brother for a few months since he promised he could bring Oona back along with his G/F. She ended up losing her leg and getting knocked out. In a panic Scar's brother used Oona's leg and tried to attatch it to Violet's body (Like i'm guessing he will do with his arm and Scar). No such luck, she is believed to be dead, but actually she woke up without her memories. So she has a leg like scar has an arm. She travels determined to find her memories... and kill anyone who stands in her way.
Personality: She can be a little air head-ish, even child-ish. But very determined. Phsycotic, and rather insane at times. She speaks her mind in just about any situation and doesn’t really care about the outcome. She LOVES da booze (XD) Her leg allows her to have super-speed. She's in love with Scar but is too stubborne to admit it.... in fact she won't.
Appearance: She wears jean short-shorts and a purple belly tank top. She has a peired belly button with a gold ring in it as well as hoop earings. She’s extremely tan with red eyes She has shoulder length purple hair she puts in sort of a bob ponytail. And of course her leg has the same tattoos scar has.

NAME: Allie Brosh

PARENTS: Denny Brosh and Maria Ross

PERSONALITY: Allie is very kind hearted girl. However she can be very mischievous. Like Maria, Allie is a tomboy. Can be a little dense like Denny sometimes.

DESCRIPTION: Dark blond hair. Has her father's eyes. One could say that Allie is the spitting image of Denny, only more feminine looking.

Denny is extremely over-protective of Allie and hates the thought of any boy being within a five mile radius of her. Allie hates how Denny always wants to know where she is at all times and if there's going to be at least 2 adult supervisiors around. Allie often asks Maria for permission to go on dates and stuff like that first because she knows her mother will usually say yes. However, Maria sometimes has to side with Denny and say no for Allie's own good and safety. All in all, Allie is the product of a very loving home and family. She joins the military after graduating high school.

He retreated the Military and currenttly is client for Lust he received a homonculus tattoo to disguise his identity against the military which is located on his knuckles. He can create Demonic Illusions using alchemy and he can also create demons.

Arg! Reading these makes me want to upgrade my website quicker.

Anyways, here's my character.

Name: Ariadne

Background: Ariadne is a chimera who was merged with a spider. Unlike the other chimeras, she became involved with lab 5 when she and her sister were kidnapped by one of Tucker's subordinates. The two girls are seperated so Ariadne works (more or less) loyally for the military in hopes that she can eventually find her sister and escape. For this reason, she does not go with Greed when he breaks the others free and is seen as a traitor in their eyes.

Bio: She appears human, except that she has an extra pair of arms and two sets of spinnerets located on either side of her lower back. When she fights, she reaches her arm back as an archer would reach for an arrow and gathers silk between her fingers. She then puts her arms forward and launches the silk like a whip. She can also produce venomous saliva and can move much faster and lift weights much heavier than a normal person can. In public, she wears a long cloak to disguise herself so people will not be frightened. However, this disguise is not always helpful because she can be quick to pick a fight and will aggressively defend herself or someone important to her.

I won't go into too many details, but I've created quite a few OCs for an OC-centric FMA doujinshi I'm working on. Some of the more central characters include:

-Major Jacob Traugott, the Shining Light Alchemist, who uses his specially designed transmutation circle and a focusing prism (which he can transmute depending on the circumstances) to manipulate light in various means to serve his purposes. Think holograms, cloaking, blinding blasts of light, and a laser-like attack, which he uses only in desperate circumstances. He more scientist than fighter. As a result of his early experiments with light Alchemy, his hair is permanently white.

-Colonel Zerah Solingen, the Blade Alchemist, is another veteran of the Ishbal Extermination campaign. She carries a katana-like sword she obtained from the Eastern Island countries and a metal sheath, and can transmute them into an particular bladed-oriented weapon she desires. She holds a deep admiration for Fuhrer King Bradley because of his legendary sword prowess and hopes to one day become a legend herself on the battlefield. Because of a worry that she will be treated as a less worthy soldier and combatant because she's a woman, she keeps her hair short and wears a slightly baggier uniform so that her gender is not immediately distinguishable.
