"The Breeders" man. You gotta give/make love to Kim Deal. See "MP3s of Songs You Like" for one of their most popular songs.
Also, another girl artist I love are the "Noodles", whom are Japanese. I'll upload some of their stuff later.
"Regina Spektor" isn't half bad, but I never bothered checking her stuff out.

Out of those I went for Amy Lee, but my fave is actually Enya I'd say.
Same....but Amy Lee got too loud and dark for me. By the way,

I know none of those except for Michael Jackson!

And too my delight Enya is now in fact on the poll. Though I didn't get as hooked on her newest album as I did the others, but she did a song in Japanese finally.

The only one I know in that poll is Enya (and Michael Jackson, but I don't take that as a serious option:P), so if I had to pick one, it would be her. She's got some beautiful songs, but I think she also has awful songs.
I like Ayumi Hamasaki best of all J-pop artists, and I like R&B singers like Beyonce.

I never heard of any of these artist (I'll look them up sometime.) So I picked Micheal Jackson.
Also I like Ayumi Hamasaki,Mary J. Blige,Alicia Keys and Christina Aguilera ( well not really, but she has a great voice.)
Either than that I don't really like new female artist out these days. They're all about the glitter and fame, half of them can't even sing. But everyone has a different taste, I guess.

..........Shiina Ringo. << >>
Gal composes some awesome and beautiful music and writes just as well. She's done clever lyrics, symbolic lyrics, dark music, happy beats, and then some stuff that's just plain WEIRD. Nevermind the range she has; I've heard some songs that can be classified as rock, pop, jazz, and so on.
Unfortunately, her voice can be an acquired taste. Especially in some songs where it can get a little screechy. O_o It's just different...which can be the charm in its self actually.

Hikaru Utada is overrated. Same with Ayumi. Their songs start sounding the same after a while. Try getting into Shiina Ringo. I kid you not, she's far better than both of them and a more varied musician.
