My friends and I have come up with several subtitles, or slogans for the show. You know, along the lines of, Fullmetal Alchemist: A Young Man's Journey for Redemption. Only we feel that it should reflect the show's unrelenting drama and charged emotional situations.
So far we've got,

Actually, and this is really ridiculous, I've been 'away' for awhile because I forgot that I'd actually have to check the forums if I wanted to stay up to date. I had subscribed to a few topics, and was just responding to my e-mail. After awhile the responses stopped coming and I just figured no one was talking anymore. I feel quite silly about the whole thing, but I am now attempting to scan the forums dilligently for new and interesting discussions to join.

Well, that and World of Warcraft.

We all came up with these subtitles to get a little comic relief from sitting around clutching our heads and groaning "ohhh my god, that's so f***ed!" when the show started getting really...well, f***ed.

Um...Al calls Ed Nii-san a lot so...What does that mean?

Well, onii (I think) is brother; not to be confused with "oni" (meaning demon). In any case, onii-san (shortened to nii-san) is how it's used, typically, by little siblings. The 'san' suffix being kind of familial (or friendly) while still being respectful. As opposed to 'chan' which is, I believe, the suffix used for women and children.

So in short, as I understand it, "nii-san" as a form of address pretty much means "Big Brother." Though it should be noted that I don't know Japanese either, and this is just based on what I've gathered from watching a lot of anime and Japanese movies, and reading manga.

I'm loving the slogans people are throwing out. "Aren't they supposed to be in school?" made me laugh out loud at inopportune moments (middle of the night in the livingroom), as did the Philosopher's Stone and PS2 ones. Keep 'em coming!
