Frank Archer had Shou Tucker put red stone into Ed's watch so it would amplify Ed's powers. Later, when it was given to Al to be returned to Ed, Al and Scar run into Kimblee. Kimblee takes the watch from Al and throws it at SCar. Eventually the watch is destroyed.

I know he finally tries Mustang (the "easiest face to punch" XD ), and then shifts back to himself before hitting Ed with The Doozy.

All I can say is, it's a lucky thing Envy never got a look at Al's human face. Otherwise I'll bet that would have been his trump card.
