At the recent
Fullmetal Alchemist Festival: Tales of Another, Tokyo, the seiyuus who were there performed live, some narration. Most of the parts done were segments already featured in the anime (like Maes's funeral, Ed & Roy's last conversation etc), but Envy had a special conversation with Greed that was
never shown in the anime. Envy's seiyuu, Yamaguchi Mayumi was performing alone as Greed's seiyuu wasn't there (but there were the voice recordings to make up for it). Since there were a few people who expressed interest in the content of the conversation, I translated the script from the official event pamphlet.
Note: The following translation contains spoilers, so don't scroll down if you hate em. The English translations are at the bottom.

It hints very strongly that he's still alive (post episode 51) and that we might see him in the movie. Hmmmm....
P.S: The colors of the actual scan have been inverted for easier reading, if anyone's wondering about the authenticity...

Regardless, thanks for the translations!

: ) No problem. I was pretty surprised to hear that Greed was her lover before he died too. Well at least that explains why Dante has his bones...

;; I thought he was her son... [Somehow] this squicks me~
But I'm happy to hear there's a better chance of seeing Envy re-appear in the Movie. X3 One part of me always believed he would, but then ll that talk about alchemy not being able to "survive" in the real world had me doubting more than ever~

Well... we're still not sure if that's really Envy, right? (By God, I hope not

) He also has black hair instead of his natural blond locks he should have had since he's technically Hohenheim's son.

Yep, it's still all speculation since BONES isn't letting anything else.
That guy's hair looks brown in the trailer, but in the article that I scanned, it looks black. o_O But what caught my eye was his goatie and sorta sideburns that kinda resemble Daddy Elric's...

I always thought Greed loved her when he was...that human. Lol. Always thought Envy made it, since he went through the gate and escaped the black things.

A very nice conversation that reveals even more of their intentions. Wonderfully translated, Sycia.

When did this conversation take place? Looking through it, it doesn't fit in with any episode at all without causing more conflict with the original story. For example, the last paragraph says "Lust, Pride and Gluttony have disappeared, Wrath is still out there." indicating post-ep51 (but Gluttony is unaccounted for). Then where did Envy meet Greed (who's supposed to be dead)? If dead Homunculi go to beyond the Gate, then Lust and Pride should also be there as well and not "disappeared".
All in all, it just seems to be Bones trying to clean up all their mess from the anime but still not making it.

I thought the first part of the conversation took place on that island during the discovery of human!Wrath. That last bit seemed like a tiny independent monologue of Envy's right before (or after) he entered the Gate to seek out Hohenheim.

;; Of course, I could be mistaken.

Seriously, I don't know. At the event, they simply used this conversation to represent the Homoculi factor of the series. As
Kaseshi-chan said, the first part of the conversation could have been on the island where everyone's after Wrath because that's the ONLY place we can actually fit it into unless Greed and Envy met anytime after that before the former's demise (but not shown in the anime itself).
The last part, I guess is Envy reflecting back on what happened, post or in episode 51....
Still, it was an interesting bit. Even in the anime Greed is completely different from the manga equivalent.
Quistis: ^_^ Thanks.

wow, that is very very very interesting. i think that perhaps since in Ep 51 envy passed through the gate, maybe that's how he met up with Greed. like how he was able to talk to Ed when they were standing in front of the gate maybe since he passed through, he could also talk with all the dead people who have passed through? ok, that didn't really make sense, but that's just some whack theory that i thought up..

Greed was Dante's lover. Woah... this is going to take me awhile to get it into my brain. Why did Dante kill him then? I mean wouldn't she have some relationship with him even if he was a failure? I always thought she always really cared about (but hated at the same time) Ed's dad. Well she did have a lot of lovers. I guess Greed was important to her.

Greed and Dante...? O_O Dude; just NO.
And tp be totally honest, I hope Envy gets what he deserves in the movie (if he does make his re-appearance in the movie anyway). I don't like Envy too much... =_= He disturbs me... Gah.
Sycia
Jan 3 2005, 10:28 PM
Well it's quite simple... Greed, like Lust, isn't the same person he was before his death.
And whether Dante actually loved him or not is another question altogether since it wasn't specified. ; )

I would have assumed that Dante DID loved him in return if she tried and bring him back to life with human transmutation.

Hmmm well it does say it was an experiment to see just how much the Red Stones would work on homoculi~
After all she did have the Philosopher's Stone to do that and not have to pay any price for it...
Phoenix_alchemist
Jan 4 2005, 02:12 PM
But Dante really could've transmuted any old dead guy, not just Greed. Perhaps there is some sort of underlying reason she chose to use Greed?

This is the important thing to remember
Lust, Sloth and I suspect Greed all ended up with memories of what they were before they became Homunculi
This affect the way they "lived" there afterlives.
I personally liked Greed thought he was quite cool
Don't forget folks
MAJOR SPOILER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Spoiler: (Click here to Display)
When you went through the Gate yu went to another world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Also Lust and Greed were sealed in the series they were not killed or altered by Ed
The important question really is the Dante and Gluttony question just what happened in the lift
I reckon that the remaining Homunculi will come back and maybe help Ed get back
You never know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree 0_o even though it seemed that she only did it for the red stones still! she must have cared about him a little.
Sycia
Jan 4 2005, 04:00 PM
Well she could've been concerned for him, or transmuted him because he happened to be there near her, and his bones were there so she could control him if he ever turned on her...
As for Greed's memories... Homoculi seem to only remember their previous carnations if given the correct trigger. Greed claimed he remembered nothing of his previous life in the script I translated.... oo;
Omakase Shimasu

...I can't remember Greed ever saying or even hinting at the fact that he loved Dante... ^^;;

Jan 5 2005, 11:06 AM
In the anime, all hints seemed to lead towards a "Dante was my mommy theory"
The bones we saw on Dante's table were rather small and child-like after all...
So many assumed that maybe Dante was his mom.
Otherwise than that, one could have guessed anything: He did come visit Dante's house to revisit his memories (the 1st time before Al is kidnapped) but one can interpret that in many ways.
The second time, when he goes inside and sees his bones, we still can't figure out why he wants to see her exactly...
Maybe we can reach the conclusion that if Greed died younger, Dante created him years later and thats why he popped up in an older form. (sort of like wrath...but um not really)
Its just hard to imagine Dante loving anyone but Hohenheim. Its easier to believe that she wanted Greed back for some other purpose (sexual maybe???but not love)
Phoenix_alchemist
Jan 5 2005, 02:02 PM
Then maybe Greed is actually Dante's brother or cousin or something. If he's not her son or lover, that would leave only family members.
Omakase Shimasu
Jan 5 2005, 02:21 PM
Or maybe the love Envy was talking about was actually that of a son towards his own mother?

;; Maybe I just jumped to conlusions... although it does say a young man... meh.
Fresh_Coffee
Jan 5 2005, 05:52 PM
This is all to confusing. Child or Lover? If Greed were Dante lover he might be Ed's Dad Son. That means Ed killed his own brother. Or Dante could have had a child with another man.
Omakase Shimasu
Jan 5 2005, 05:58 PM
@.@ My mind just broke.
Ed's Dad's Son? Brother...? How confusing...

But if Greed's really Dante's son then he'd also be Envy's brother... Whacked up soap opera this turns out to be.

I can remembering watching the subbed version of Greed and Envy's convo on You-Tube ( although I really prefer your version of the scene's translation more.. Greed actually calls Dante an old hag.. while the subs kept making Greed call her a....well you know ^^; )
To those who didn't know, yes Greed was Dante's lover ( incidently..when he was alive, it seems like the only thing he wanted back then was to live by Dante's side)
Although for some reason, he died ( I have no idea what it could of been from though.. maybe an illness or by murder?) and Dante did bring him back..
Unfortunatly, like the translation says she only brought him back as means of experimentation.. so to her, Greed was nothing but a guinea pig o.o`
Although the mother and son thing seems interesting.. but it was never said if Dante had any other sons with other men.. did she? as far as I know.. Dante only had a son with Hoenheim..and that was Envy.
( and I need to add more onto this post.. but I have to go somewhere now.. when I get back, I'll edit it ^^; )
-Edit-
( and I'm back)
And when Envy is telling Greed the reason that Dante brought him back was by all means ' just an experiment' , Greed does seem to react badly to it.. when he yells ' shut up' he almost sounds pained.. like he's reliving a memory of his former life or something like that.
Also, Envy's speech got me at the end too.. it did make me feel sorry for him though ( although at the same time, it scared me ^^; ) since all he wants to do is forget the reason he was reborn.

I KNEW it!! I had a feeling that Greed loved Dante or dated her or something because that was another reason why Envy wouldn't like him- because he dated Envy's mama. But, this was probably in the Gate when he was switching worlds... HOW COOL! X3 Loved this, thank you for translating it!
