I was just wondering what you guys thought the most violent anime was. Or the bloodiest that you've seen.
I say Kite, what about you?

Well...so far...the anime that sticks in my mind as having some of the most violent scenes would be the Rurouni Kenshin OAV (the first one). (It was really well animated, though...beautiful storyline, too)

I agree. Pikes through people's heads and necks is pretty bloody....

Probably GANTZ for anime and battle royale for manga.

uh... Ninja Scroll, perhaps?
It sucked, but it set a pretty high standard for animated violence.

The most violence I've ever seen in anime is in Elfen Lied. Not recommended for the kiddies, and I mean it.

Dec 29 2004, 12:29 AM
yes ninja scrolls was indeed much with the gore. also there are a slew of generic 90s titles that you cant remember the name to cause they were so generic. BUT the only reason you saw them was that they made up for what they lacked in plot with massive blood and gore.
my favorite moment of the anime violence though is still when i went to taiwan right as they got the Transformers movie. everyone but Optimus dies within like the first 20 mins. little kids in the States went fuckin nuts went they saw this shit. i mean kids running out of the theater crying and all sorts other stuff.

Dec 29 2004, 01:31 AM

Oh really Hitokiri? When did that movie come out in the states?
I'm not too experienced when it comes to really violent anime (Probably because I'm so picky in choosing). But the most violent I've seen is the Kenshin OAV. I liked the fighting scene in the beginning when Kenshin first appears.
Spoiler: (Click here to Display)
When Kenshin twisted the guy's neck with his katana
It was awesome.

Kite is far worst than kenshin Ova's, the ending is as violent and messed up as anything i've ever seen.... besides Faces of Death 1,2 and 3... on dvd

I think that the most violent anime is Elfen Lied. Is the Kenshin OAV that you say the "Tsuioku Hen"? And what is Kite?

Oh man, ok I'll try to explain Kite, but it does not make any sense to me. I haven't watched the entire thing, just a few random episodes here and there because its my friend's DVD and not mine.
Ok, so, The main character is Sawa. Shes all cute looking and whatnot, but shes an assassin. Her parents were killed and she just basically wants revenge. She has a boyfriend who's also an assassin, but that doesn't matter. There are a few child molesters in there too, who everyone wants to kill. Oh yea, did I mention the guns they had? Oh this is great. The guns have VERY large bullets, which explode inside of you when you get shot. They don't just shoot you once either, they shoot people like, five times, and then the entire body explodes. Blood everywhere. Its crazy.
The animation is really good though, fight scenes are tight. But wouldn't recomend it for the kiddies.

Akira is most deffanently a gorier movie but another gori move is samuri x witch is the begging of rouni kenshons ife it is about the war in witch he is the batosi the man slayer very tight movie

Dec 29 2004, 10:32 PM
No I don't think that Samurai X (Rurouni Kenshin) is a gory movie. There may be a lot of killing but their deaths are pretty clean. You don't see innards spilling out...skulls got crushed or bits of brains anywhere in the series. The worse would be a bit of blood. So Samurai X isn't the least bit gory.

Nope, but as for what I've seen I think beserk is pretty sick. There's this one that I seen, but I forgot the name. It was pretty heinous. Lot about demon's raping schoolgirls, and the destruction of the world. Basically porn, with lots of gore and blood.

I suppose Hellsing... I thought the violence was pointless and I didn't really like it.. That's probably the only thing that I properly remember from it.. all that violence...

The X/1999 Movie was pretty violent. It scared me away. Hmmm... Maybe not so much the violence that scared me away but how tragic and wrong everything was. It was pretty violent though.

I agree with sevter. The Rurouni Kenshin OAV wasn't that bad. Everyone talks about it like it's a freaking gut-fest. It's pretty much all blood.
And as for the question about the "Director's Cut", there's nothing special about it, except that they put the two OAVs on one disc, and poked around with it. They put it in widescreen format in order to make it seem 'exclusive', or 'original', when in reality all they did was cut off the top and bottom of the picture. The original was meant for normal tv release (It's an OAV after all). THen they put in silly directors notes and stuff. (I never read them, but apparently, they wrote that Hajime Saitou died in the war. That's pure bullpoop. Saitou is based on a real historical figure who lived a long life. Fans of the anime know it's not true also, because Saitou becomes a major character in the series)
And then of course, there's the subject that has people t'o'd; the naming of the OAV. Kenshin is not a Samurai, was not a Samurai, and never possibly could be a Samurai. The closest thing he has is his occasional samurai dialect usage.
Dangitt, i just ranted. Rrgh.
Anywho, back on topic, most violent anime? I really don't watch much violent anime. I'm not fond of gore or horror. FMA is the only really gory one I like, and even that is a kid's show. Heh. I'm a wuss.
Boogiepop Phantom and Texhnolyze were rather disturbing to me. They were both excellent series, with good animation, music, storylines and stuff, but I really couldn't handle the horror factor in them. Not my thing.
And as for most violent, but not gory? Noir. Noir has not a drop of blood in it, which is wierd, considering how many insanely reckless murders it has. Crazy irresponsible gunfights and countless assassinations. It's better that it wasn't bloody, because that made it easier to swallow, and appreciate. Besides, some of the assassination methods used are disturbing enough in themselves.

For people with an account on Animemusicvideos.org you can download a video called sick and twisted. The song is "Down with the Sickness", by Disturbed(Gotta love em). It pretty much sums up "A kite" in like, three minutes. Don't download it if you are easily offended. You have been warned.

Wow, this is a tough one. I can't say one is worse than the other, but here are my votes:
Ninja Scroll
Hellsing
Akira (so-so)
Definately......Berserk, very gorey.
I was surprised to hear someone, no names, say Ninja scroll was no good. Just like DBZ, Ninja scroll opened the door into feudal Japan anime. The plot was great and so was the animation. Not many anime movies can match it.
Nice posts by everyone. These were all great animes either way.

Dokuro-chan is full of rampant, gratuitous violence, but it's handled in a very lighthearted manner. The main protagonist repeatedly gets his head smashed off in the first episode, only to be revived and later have it smashed off again.
