*hugs Mommy* Isn't the Prince wonderful??? *cries on Mommy's shoulder*
Carnal Malefactor
The Chancellor's been working his arse off on a final paper for his philosophy course all weekend. Give The Chancellor a frickin' break.
Gashole
What does the Chancellor do anyway?
Bling_bling_Angel
*bitter look* My Lord Chancellor... I gave you plenty of chances. I asked for only THREE reasons as to why you'd wed me. And have I ever heard you say that you love me...?

What have you to say for yourself?
Gashole
Yes, Chancellor, what have you to say?
Carnal Malefactor
Well, I offered one earlier. You'll have to look for it... it's political.

The other two? Well, your beauty is unparallelled in this Queendom, approached only by that of the Queen herself. And secondly, our marriage would strengthen public support for the royal family, as it would create a sense of solidarity between commoner and royal to see a marriage between you, the daughter of the Queen, and I, the democratically-elected representative of the people betrothed to each other.
Quistis88
I suppose as of right now, the Chancellor may still have a chance, as the Prince is currently revising something in his long list of suggestions . . .
Bling_bling_Angel
dry.gif You are NO commoner, my Lord Chancellor... you are of noble blood; don't try to use the modesty mode.

*attempting to look tough* And have you ever expressed your love for me? Ever? *folds hands* I think not, although i confess that your proffered reasons are very touching...
Gashole
I will knock some sense into your head, Chancellor. ph34r.gif

Lest you forget, The Chancellor originally won his fiefdom in a duel against the oppressive Duke Higgins. He is a self-made man who challenged the corrupt power of Higgins and prevailed, earning the support of the citizenry in the process.

But, er . . . I thought you mentioned who was of noble blood. And I don't quite recall seeing the Chancellor's name on the list. huh.gif Unless I'm gravely mistaken . . .

Would it be too difficult to give him another chance? And there's a rule that suitors must tell you that they love you? huh.gif

That was the wrong bottle. You just released another genie. huh.gif

excellent....

*looks over to the new genie*

you there. since i released you, your mine now.

*points to the gashole genie*

seal this one in its bottle....

----------------------------------------------------------

*turns to the prince*

i'll just go over them one by one

1. OK
2. OK, but all education grants must approved personally by the queen, we will have nobody using our funds to do research we do not approve of or is not in the best interests of our lands
3. NO.... prayer and faith are in ones heart. let us leave it there.
4. NO i see no reason to do so, but maybe just keep the old system and add on a militray council with captain ninja as the head, answering to the queen and her advisors, as well.
5. MAYBE how about we just a royal civil planner
6. NO...some of our people like game meats, truly what is the difference in consuming a cat or a cow... all attachment issues aside, in the end we are still killing an animal for its flesh. so either outlaw all meat or none, and i will not allow the outlaw of meat....
7. NO... only the military shall be given the right to bear arms. that way we can control the manufacture of arms, since we do not grant military contracts, we make our own weapons. we will train and arm the peasants when militias are needed.
8. OK, i suggest underground tunnels for the element of surprise
9. OK, again i suggest the use of underground tunnels. no need to worry about weather issues.
10. MAYBE, change that to Pancake Sundays or Funnel Cake Fridays and you got a deal.
11. MAYBE only if no appeals are to be had, though the government reserves the right to retrial should more evidence come to light.
12. NO, i believe we should be isolationalist except in the area of trade. who cares if some other nation's serfs are starving, we have our own worries. the exception to this rule would be the young prince's lands.
13. YES
14. YES and NO, there will be to slavers but there will be slavery. meaning that one cannot simply capture people to be slaves, but slavery is a vaild form of debt payment and/or government sactioned punishment. People may also sell themselves into indentured servitude if necessary. also there will still be serfs.
15. NO. If one cannot afford to take the day off, they do not deserve it. this is in the best financial interests of all our people as well as preventing children from being poor cause their parents are lazy.
16. YES, but we shall not become relient upon other nations, and any who try to use economics as leverage will be deemed hostile and treated like the enemy.
17. MAYBE, We will setup Economic Review Board and take it on a case by case basis. Unless that specific case will greatly harm our own economy i see no reason a business cannot value more than the job stability of thier workers. for the goal of industry is profit, thus it would be counter-productive to impede upon it.
18. YES
19. YES, though the use of spies will be considered an act of war.
20. We already have this law. Though I believe the use of missionaries and recruitment should be outlawed under penalty of death. One should decide ones faith own their own.

i suggest you make another draft, young prince.
Bling_bling_Angel
Everyone not within the court, not related to the Royal family and exlcuding the Genie, are of noble blood... I believe I stated that earlier...

It's hard to give someone a chance everytime, after remembering that that individual only wants to get me... in... we know what I'm talking about. dry.gif

How would any of you like to marry someone who doesn't love you?

Anywho, her is what sould be #3 on the list I wrote out; 3. Freedom to express opinions and views.

Apparently, the dear Princess has not read King Lear. If one loves you, there is nothing one needs to say to prove it. Actions should serve the purpose well enough. However, due to the Princess' confinement, it has been difficult for The Chancellor to adequately prove his affection to this day.

yes and any who open a genies bottle is thier owner. i hold the bottle and i released that genie therefore i own it
Gashole
Didn't you steal the bottle from Lady B's room? huh.gif

Oh, why don't we let the new genie speak for itself?
Bling_bling_Angel
*glares at the Chancellor* You would at least prove it by being less harsh to me in your words, you know... And, newsflash: I've been freed of the belt. I've drank a potion that'll kill any man who comes to me unchastely and with bad intentions... those with pure intentions will be unharmed. Try your luck, if you dare...

*exasperated* My Lord Vizier... you could cut the Prince some slack, eh?
hitokiri
if this exam were easy, what would be the point, young princess?

also i only speak in the best interests of our lands...

another thing? who is this christ that he speaks of? the black man from the desert that could walk upon water and raise the dead?

i can do that, yet nobody prays to me......

Oh, I see. But after what the Chancellor said (plus the "King Lear" reference that struck a soft spot), is it not at all possible to show him a shred of mercy and give him one more chance at the very least to prove himself?
Bling_bling_Angel
*bites lip and whispers inaudibly*

For my Mother's sake... and the fact that I once love you...

Let the Chancellor prove himself against the Prince...

*walks sadly away*
Quistis88
Angel, dear, it was merely a suggestion. You don't have to follow up on it if you don't want to. sad.gif

The Chancellor is perplexed by the notion of a serum that can differentiate between pure and impure intentions. It's difficult enough for man or woman, with an analytical, dynamic mind to make such a distinction, let alone a mere concocted substance.

short story: i concocted a sentient mind reading spell in liquid form

long story: check the royal records (go a few pages back)
Bling_bling_Angel
*points to the Vizier* My Lord Chancellor, it was the Vizier's idea and concoction... it actually blasted a guard away...

*bows to Queen* For you sake, I repeat, and for the fact that I once love his excellency...
Carnal Malefactor
The Vizier is indeed wise, but wise enough to create such a potion? The Chancellor has his doubts.

The Chancellor furthermore believes it foolish to give a potion veto power over the feelings of the Princess herself.
Quistis88
But I'm also afraid my suggestion will bring us all back to square one.

QUOTE

I believe in the capabilities of my Vizier, although I do see your point in the possible restrictions on the Princess' feelings . . .
hitokiri
it doesn't, her feelings never come into play. the spell reads the mind of any within proximity of princess. if one should try to harm or do anything improper, they get "detered".
Bling_bling_Angel
*is losing hope* LET BOTH THE PRINCE AND THE CHANCELLOR COME FORTH... LET THEM SHOW ME WHAT I MEAN TO THEM...

I say this, because their loyalty and devtion to the Queen and her rule are UNQUESTIONABLE... but I question their love for me... *shakes head*
Carnal Malefactor
If the Queen, or any other soul doubts the nature of the Chancellor's intentions, then it would be prudent to grant him the opportunity to prove himself, by allowing him to take the Princess on a date at the Gold Saucer. The Chancellor submits this idea for thy approval, Your Majesty.

Naturally, the Prince will be granted the same opportunity.

But they both seem so devoted to you as well . . . must one always question another's intentions in such a manner before choosing to marry the other? If so, then you would also be implying that I should question my Vizier as well.

And why the Gold Saucer, Chancellor? Is that place fit for a Princess such as Angel to be in?
Bling_bling_Angel
dry.gif *sighs* I asked for "proof"... not a date...

-EDIT-

*shrugs* I'd never question the Prince's love for me. I know he does... I'm doing it to look fair... I'm questioning the Chancellor cuz I've known him to want me only in a horizontal position...

The Vizier has pure intentions to you, Mother
definingmind
*looks at Bacon* the Gold Saucer? That's around here?!!!

I do hope this new discovery won't corrupt anyone.
Carnal Malefactor
It is true that unwavering trust in another is always a treacherous path to walk, yet is it not equally dangerous to allow one's distrust to dictate one's actions entirely?
Quistis88
Well, I suppose there IS a point in the Chancellor's words . . .

Correction: Two dates. Perhaps more, if another suitor steps forward.

How would it be possible to convince the Princess of our worthiness beyond a shadow of a doubt in any other way?

And yes, the Gold Saucer is wholesome entertainment for the entire family.

yes what is this gold saucer that you speak of? please enlighten the court.

I base my judgments upon what I've seen and heard from you, My Lord Chancellor... and from those I have recieved from his highness, the Prince.

well if it is indeed wholesome family fun as the chancellor says i have no reason to disagree with the date, however i advise on the use of ninja chaperones.
Carnal Malefactor
Does that not put the Chancellor at a disadvantage ab initio? The Chancellor is a busy man. Much busier than The Prince, with all due respect. He has, despite his best efforts, had difficulty finding the time to speak with the Princess in recent days. Would it not be most prudent to grant him the same chance that the Prince has had to woo the Princess?
Quistis88
But . . . the Gold Saucer is a place of chance.

And by 'chance', I mean 'gambling' (assuming the Gold Saucer is a reference to FFVII). Surely, it would not be much of a date . . .

unfortunately with the recent military conflicts our shipment of robot ninja chaperones will not arrive for another 3 weeks, our current robot ninjas are only designed for battle.... i would advise that they not be used in any other matter lest something go wrong and a bloodbath ensues.

The only real gambling I can think of there would be on the Chocobo races. Otherwise there are other events in which a couple woudl wholly enjoy. A few examples, gondola rides, an interactive roller coaster, even nightly plays...

Perhaps a detachment of one or two can be sent to accompany us?
Quistis88
Regarding the Gold Saucer date, I will give both of you suitors permission to proceed, perhaps without the chaperones. The Princess has taken the potion, after all . . . hmm . . .
