Of course we know that NOW. But at the time he was a newcomer to this Queendom, and thus subject to suspicion, and a background check.
yes but such duties are not for you to complete upon your own, chacellor. those duties are that of the guards, at the very least you should have announced your intentions to me before undertake such a task.

The Chancellor's greatest concern at this moment is having a foreign prince marry into our royal family whose own country may demand a military alliance. Such a proposition would be risky, as that country may conduct policy that would draw our Queendom into conflicts that would not be in our best interest to become involved in.
The Chancellor's recommendation is for the Princess to seek a husband from amongst the Queen's advisors, if the peasantry is indeed planning a coup...

The strength of your country's military is not what is in question, young Prince. What is in question is what how that strength will be exercised. Already threatened by a populist revolt, it is hardly in this Queendom's best interest to become involved in a foreign conflict which will bring no direct benefit to us. As such, the great strength of our allies may become a liability, rather than an asset. We are loathe to be seen as aggressors, or appeasers of aggressors.
Alliances are difficult to break once they have been formed, Vizier. Please keep that in mind.
