That's how Russian middle names are. You take your father's first name, and add '-ovich' to it.

So if I have a kid and he/she doesn't hate me enough to get it legally changed, his/her middle name will be Romanovich.

as for kids, i said this somewhere in the newcomers thread once, but if i had 2 boy's i'd name them kyle, ryan, and tyler.....kai, rai, and tai. it would be cool if i married a japanese guy, i'd want them all to have japanese names like my japanese teacher had a kid and she named him kaito, which is a cool name haven't thought much about girls names, but i like kara. it reminds me a lot of kari, because i had this friend from hawaii named kari oki. and since people always pronounced it "carrie" it became "karaoke." my name's okay....it used to be less common, but now there are a ton of people with the same name

Yes, my name has a LOT of things it means. The "Ming" part anyway. Apparently, "Hoi" stands for victory, and "Ming" (when written contains both the characters for "sun" and "moon") stands for bright, intelligent, understanding, and everything else that's related, I suppose.

And yes, "Ming" as in "tomorrow". The "Hoi" . . . I don't know what noun that can make. It's not "ocean" though, and "Hoi Ming" is actually a Cantonese pronunciation.
