i'm a purple had to stop in october though because of college apps, so i keep missing testing. blah. glad to know i'm not the only violent one here! my classmates are afraid to spar with me especially since i always snap the other bo staff in half when sparring with weapons. sigh. which style do you practice? i do shotokan but i for kata i only know heian shodan, nidan, sandan, and part of yodan. i have issues with yodan XP

I guess I do. XD Situps come so easy to me and punches to my belly are near useless. And we don't really do bo-staff - we have sticks to practice dodging sometimes.

And I've only done nidan and shodan. Shodan is for orange, I'm having some trouble with the balance in that defensive stance (the flat handed one where you have to put all your weight on one foot).

oh yeah, backstance knifehand block. i hate backstance because i have really long legs so my stance has to be pretty long, with more than 3 feet between the front heel and side of back foot, and it gets kind of painful after awhile. practice your shodan! it's the most basic but most important XP the blackbelts have to do shodan perfectly during tests.

shotokan is white, 2 stripes, yellow, 2 stripes, blue, 2 stripes, purple, 4 stripes, green, 4, brown, 4, red-black, black-white-black, red-black-red, black, 9. takes awhile to move up the ranks x_X i'm only purple 2 stripes because i keep stopping. plus my sensei got fired and i'm pissed.

@ hakai: okaeri yeah, i think that if hughes wasn't straight and married he'd have better chemistry with roy than havoc would. and havoc wants a girlfriend pretty badly, anyway

Hee. I do Wado, it's semi-contact and it has certain combos I guess.

I don't really know what the difference is though. We have some very pretty moves, I heard shotokan is the really evil one or something, you know, the one hit kill thing.

Wado is more like... three-hit-kill. Not many people recognize karate's beauty until they practice it, though. They always want flashy kicks and shit - I myself would've done ninjutsu but the nearest school is a half an hour train ride, if not more - but wado in its own way... well it's efficient yet stylish, and doesn't have all those useless flashy arm motions and everything.

You should try Wado. It's a combination of efficiency and nice combos and you don't need all that much energy for it.

Shotokan uses weapons, correct? Does Tae Kwon Do use weapons as well?

i'm all for efficiency in fighting, but i like to experiment as well. flashy moves are a fun way to test my skill, balance, etc.
