Vick's Graphic Sex Disease Lawsuit
April 6, 2005 Mighty Michael Vick enticed your taste buds in a Coke ad, but in recently filed legal papers in Georgia, Sonya Elliott is hardly endorsing her old Falcon flame -- she's suing him.

Elliott, who is a therapist in the field of geriatrics, says Vick gave her genital herpes. She claims in the papers that the two had a romantic, but celibate, relationship for more than a year. The documents state that once the couple began having sex, Vick always wore a condom, except says Elliott, on one occasion when despite her objection, Vick placed his private parts against her.

Now, she wants Vick to pay. But the question remains: will a lawsuit like this one force Vick to pay in more than one way?

Los Angeles marketing expert Wayne Friedman talked to "CJ" about the impact the suit could have on Vick's lucrative position in the ad world. "If it hurts him at all, it will be in the short term," Friedman predicted. "He won't be marketing condoms."

With ads like the PowerAde energy drink, Vick is a hot commodity. But when do legal woes cross the line of consumer acceptability?

"Unfortunately, it seems like people are immune to athletes' bad behavior," Friedman said. "They almost expect them to do drugs or fool around with women."

NBA star Kobe Bryant raked in tons of dough with endorsements like Taco Bell, but rape allegations bruised the superstar's marketability.

But then there's Paris. The mega-sale of her infamous sex tape, which featured the heiress in compromising positions, hasn't hurt her a bit, at least not as far as T-Mobile communications is concerned.

So it seems that most likely, the ad biz will give Vick a pass as long as the quarterback can still pass.
