I love the differences between the FMA manga and anime. I love to read manga, but if the anime and manga for FMA were really alike (like other anime and manga series are), I would have no manga to read because I've already seen the whole anime series. It's interesting to see your favorite characters get into situations in the manga that are different than the anime. The different characters in the FMA are also cool, like Ling Yao(manga only), Frank Archer(anime only... I think), etc.

yeah when i started reading FMA, I had seen the anime. While reading i was held in suspense the whole time. "OMG whats going to happen next?!!" I think if they had the anime and the manga they would probably get more people to watch. I kinda curious to find out how much they cut out from One Piece

Frank do exist in the anime...

Anime should not have the same plot with manga IMO. If they have the same plots with each other they will act as spoilers among one and another...

I like it better when they're different, it makes it much more interesting.
If the manga and anime go exactly the same it gets boring that's why Inuyasha & Naruto got dull.

Naruto, yes and no. Yes, because Kakashi-Gaiden sounds cool and I think that it should've been made into an anime. No, because an example would be the fight between Tenten and Temari. It didn't show the fight in the manga.

I agree with some of the above posts, if the manga is exactly like the anime, then it would not be fun, as long as it creates about the same plot point to the story that it would be good

I agree with Illusionist Alchemist. It's nice when they're little different, then you have kind of two stories to follow.

no ..

how do I put it ?
uhm ...
no, because anime should have some originality .. to emphasize it, anime is not too
far from manga but they it will be nice if they have differences as well so that it'll be
much fun and interesting ... just like FMA !
also, manga sometimes cut off the excitement in story and anime should fill that missing part !
gets ?

I have mixed feelings about this. I think people want to see the same content as in the manga, but presented in a very effective way visually. It upsets people when a scene is totally different from the manga, however. What I think is best is that everything's the same (except for directing and presentation) in the anime from the manga, and that there should be a side-series anime for silly other original anime idea stuff that could be done. That way, the filler and the actual story don't get mixed up and fans can be more satisfied.

Uh, I dunno really.
If an anime is going to be made based off of the manga series, it should be very similar to the manga. However, sometimes it can be boring to see things word for word. But, I don't like it when major events or fight scenes are left out.
