No, we do not have evidence that Ed and Winry will become a canon pairing. That is up to the jurisdiction of Arakawa-sensei. Who knows how the story will twist?

However, there is sufficient evidence to show that there is a certain amount of feelings between the two. (I'll leave it to someone else to point them out. I'm sure many of EdWin fans can list them out better than I can.) This makes them the most LIKELY pairing to become canon.

Automne, I believe (from your reply on the yaoi or not thread) that you support Elricest? That is one pairing, along with Ed x Roy, that will never become canon. Because if it does, FMA will cease to be PG (or PG-13, I'm not too sure of the rating here).

No, I don't support any pairing in the manga, for the fact that I prefer the characters way more in the anime, along with the Ed/Al dynamic, which is deeper and subtler, IMO; I read the manga for pure curiosity and try to enjoy it as much as I can, despite some of its...so-called 'fans' who bash the pairings they don't consider canon and the anime every chance they get.

I've never liked RoyEd, and I'm not that big of an Elricest supporter either; I understand you think these pairings will 'never' happen, but that word isn't one to be used like this while the manga is not other since, like you said, Arakawa is the one deciding; if she suddenly decides to put shounen-ai or implied incest, she will, no matter how much of a 'nasty' turn it would be to the fans. The rating will only go higher if she draws explicit sex, and more explicit violence.

About Ed/Winry, I know they have feelings for each other and might end up together, but one of them, or both, might also end up dying or not gather the courage to tell their feelings to each other, etc. Sorry for that question, since I think I misunderstood your post; it's just that I'm tired of rabid fans screaming 'EdWin!' every time they see both characters in the same panel like they only read the manga for that (not that the EdWin shippers can be the only ones - not at all -, but still).

I think I understand what you mean about insane ship fans. I myself try to avoid going on too far about a certain pairing, because I will get irritated with myself for that later. I just think EdWin has a few cute moments in the manga. In the anime (which I'm better at), the pairing is not obvious at all to unbiased eyes. What people see as EdWin, I see as friendship, since I'd probably feel the same for any of my friends, male and female alike. And then again, like you pointed out before, what people see as Elricest, I see as pure, innocent brotherly love, so perhaps I shouldn't comment about anime EdWin.

Ed unintentionally messed up one part of Rose's life, and the last time she saw him, she was sort-of drugged. I'd want to see decent character explanation before buying this in a fic.

Personally, much as I do like the couple, I feel EdxWin in the manga is doomed. They seem to want to make sure we know they love each other, so its even worse if one of them snuffs it.

Oh, I can definitely see that happening. Between the two, I'm not convinced Ed will survive the series. I would prefer if Arakawa didn't bring it down to a confession of love -> tragic death scenario, but....it is a possibility, under the circumstances.

I personally prefer Edwin, and although it may not happen, there's been plenty of hints in the manga, like some others pointed out. Winry accepted the fact that she fell in love with Ed, but Ed's in denial...lol.

When I watched the anime I never could picture Ed with someone. Don't know why. Maybe there were no much romantic hints there. Besides, I think anime is not centered on romance. As for Winry... She is more like sibling for Ed as a lot of people say.
But then I started read the manga and FMA fics and ... became fan of EdWin. Well, not so crazy fan.
Also I can't imagine Ed in yaoi pairing. IMO it doesn't suit him to be a gay. If he were it wouldn't be that Ed I used to like. No offending, no hate, no bashing. It's only my opinion.

I'd have to say my mind is pretty set on Ed x Winry ever since he had the thought of her being cute in the manga, and then after her thoughts in volume 12...chapter 48, plus the most recent developments.

EdxArmony isn't even feasibly possible...Armony is dead and for another thing, the girl looks like she's about 12 years old. Why would a 15 (soon to be 16) year old male want to be with a little kid? My vote goes for Winry. All the times he's blushed over her in the anime (yet he's never blushed over any other girl) and the blush from her hug in the movie. If there weren't some kind of feelings there, Ed wouldn't have blushed.

The manga, OMG. Even more recently has this become more than obvious that something is definitely going on with those two. They are truly a sweet pairing. Winry finally admitting to herself that she's in love with him and then the chapter she goes up to Briggs to attach new automail for him made it even more obvious. Ed remembers what Hawkeye said about loving Winry and he rolls off the table trying to put his mind elsewhere by reciting formulas and such. Trying to think of anything else he could because of being afraid of embarrassing himself in front of Winry (at least I think so) That was too hilarious, but more than obvious that Ed does love Winry and not in a sibling-type relationship either, especially with the way he carries on about how she's cute. xD I'm PRO EdxWin and nobody will change my mind when it comes to those two.

While watching the Anime, I never cared for any pairings in FMA. I had always been a fan of the Ed/Al brotherhood, and didn't really pay attention to any love interests for my favorite character, Ed.

After a while of looking at Fanart, fanfics, and AMV's, though, I started to turn towards Ed/Win. However, I was never too crazy for it.

But one day I decided to read the manga... Once I finished, I became a hardcore Ed/Winry fan. In fact, after a little while, they became my OTP. =]

Anyways, I'm pretty much a hardcore EdxWinry fan, even in the anime (which I don't watch much anymore). All those blushes and stuff...and also, the weird thing is that sometimes I got EdxWin!vibes whenever Ed was a bit...violent. (Ep. 44 or 45: when Ed finds out that Winry didn't tell him that Hughes was dead.)

And the manga...too obvious. ESPECIALLY in chapters 70-73. My EdWin sweet tooth squeals whenever I look at them.

Here's the reason chickie: because they're naive, stupid, cute, and fed up with all the males in their age group who haven't hit puberty yet. Easy to take advantage of. I'm not saying Ed's this kind of boy, but it's nothing new for 16 or 17 year olds to be interested in 12 year olds.

Even if she is 12, that doesn't make her a little kid. Girls at 12 years old have at least started developing boobs already (I know me and my female classmates did) and some have already had their periods or are near to having them. (oh once again, there's me. I started ovulating on my 11th birthday, whoop.) That alone makes her capable of being sexually attractive in some pubescent boy's mind.

And, for the record, Ed looks like he's 12 too.

Ed does look pretty young, which can be Armony's case. I'm 21, and people mistake me for 16 on a day to day basis. I can't even go to a R-rated movie without being carded.

Even as Fushi said, some guys like younger girls, and younger girls get caught up in idolizing older boys quite often. I really don't think Ed's into younger girls, but it could be plausible if he was.
