Gotta say, seeing Kimbley reappear was great, just goes to show how much more attention manga Kimbley gets, can`t wait to have his and pride`s words translated. Tough I suspect it will go along the lines of Kimbley telling Pride not to look down on humans or that the homonculus were unworthy to survive. And thus yet another exits the stage...

This chapter was kinda weird.. Especially the Selim-baby thing that was really random. I guess the baby will be given to Bradley's wife after everything is over. I can't understand japanese well but it seems like Ed is saying that Father didn't even care about Pride so it would be pretty nice conclusion if he'd get a real mother.

I can't wait for Blind!Mustang to do something totally badass! The only wish I have for the ending is that he stays blind. It'd be awesome.

Sorry to babble about Ed and Hohenheim again , but I think it's nice contrast to have Father who doesn't give sh** about what will happen to Pride and Hohenheim who jumps several times in front of danger to protect Ed. Maybe our midget will finally appreciate it...

Father really likes the random blasts, doesn't he? So much that apparently Ed's automail freaks out. That shot of Hohenheim on page 64 reminds me of the ED.

And I wonder about Pride. Is this abnormally small baby the equivalent of Embryo!Envy? I guess so, but it would be nice if it was a real baby Mrs.Bradley could have - she'll probably have him anyway. By the way, I still don't see his Ouroborus mark. Is it the circle thing on the baby's forehead? If not, what is the circle thing? It seems to be...cyclops eye?

Whomever it was who first brought the knowledge, the basics were easily used for the benefit of society.

My brother began studying alchemy to try and help others as well.
During the course of his studies he learned about an art called "rentanjutsu" from a travelling caravan from the east, and it caught his interest.

But for some reason, he couldn't find a single scrap of information about rentanjutsu anywhere in Amestris.

Ranfan: Nothing?
In the world's alchemy capital?
Scar: Exactly.

Scar: It was as if someone had purposely removed anything pertaining to the subject.
Ed: Why isn't there anything here about rentanjutsu?!
This is the Central National Library, the biggest in the country!

Scar: In the end, he had the travelling caravan bring him texts about rentanjutsu directly from the far East.

Rentanjutsu uses the flow of the Earth's natural energy,
and deep into his research of it, my brother learned of a dischord in the teachings that alchemy's power comes from the "movement of the Earth's crust."

A "cushion" between the alchemist and the energy from the crust.
He theorized that there was, in fact, another element at work.

WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON????????? I can not comprehend it!!!

Those pipes were father running liquid philosopher's stone all throughout the country so he could influence and control alchemy, I guess? That's why he was able to negate Ed and Al's alchemy before, since technically all alchemy went through him as a "filter" for lack of a better word, he could change the filter and thus prevent them from using their alchemy. Kinda like if someone yanked out the spark plugs from your car, your normal technique to start it wouldn't work.

Ah, so Father's trying to give his PS a boost, right? And at the end there... Um, it's over 9000? Whatever it is, it doesn't look good.

Wait, so Pride tried to take over Ed? And Ed did what now? Transformed... philosopher's stone... invading Pride... I'm lost. Hopelessly, miserably lost.

My optimistic side thinks maybe Father's just turned himself into a glass cannon-- one big shot that will kind of break him. But even if that's the case, we have to see if everyone's fried or not...

It may make more sense when you see it scanned But basically:

Father was trying to turn more humans into PSes so he wouldn't break down or something, like Hohenheim was saying.

Ed somehow invaded Pride's inner consciousness by turning all or part of himself into a "Philosopher's Stone." Not in the "red liquid/rock" sense, but in the "temporarily gain access to the inner world of a being who's core is made of PS." Kinda like how he healed himself. And in doing so he was able to repel Pride's invasion/willpower and yank out his true self. I don't quite get how it works either but that's what was said.

UMMM YEAH....EXTACLY....what was that about Ed being a Philosophers stone??? When did that happen??

What the hell just happened in this chapter? I feel really lost right now. The translation was great (thanks HisshouBuraiKen) and with it the chapter just made my mind explode.

Going off of the pictures (my mind cannot comprehend anything else but pictures.), here are my thoughts.

-Scar's brother is the greatest genius in the whole manga.
-LOL at Izumi's and Sig's reunion. Poor Roy.
-Roy and Riza reunion didn't exactly go like I expected it to. Ah well, at least their together now.

The first RAW of this entire chapter was the one that had the panel of a baby hand grabbing Izumi's foot. My first reaction to that was ALSKDJQEOIGAJ Because for a split second, I thought it was HER kid. But then I remembered that's impossible. It's because I looked at that one page that I gave in and read this entire thing. Oh well.

HisshouBuraiKen --Okay, thanks. I think I get it now. At least, as much as it can be gotten. Is it kind of the opposite of how Ling submitted to Greed? That's about the only thing I can think of.

Regarding the Ed/Stone thing: I'm reminded of the time when Ed traded some of his lifeforce to heal the wound caused by falling down a mineshaft onto a pole: he realized that Philosopher's stones are basically chunks of concentrated lifeforce, so one can think of one's own life as a (very small) Stone. That probably has something to do with how he beat Pride (though that was still weird as all get-out.)

I thought the same thing with Olivier, too, it's definitely the hair that makes it seem so, I didn't see "Winry" reaching for Al until you mentioned it.

lol ok i gave in and read it XD I don't understand all this confusion about ed taking over pride though, first, we all know that ed can use himself as a philosphers stone as he did so to heal himself before, and he knows what its like to use one because he used envy, and he knows that ps stones are just soul/energy force etc so I don't think it's weird at all, that someone with the right mindset can behave like a ps stone (providing they have a soul and sufficient alchemy knowledge XD) both envy and pride had been shown to be able to dominate another body by invading it with their own ps stone, so if Ed can also use himself as a ps stone, doesnt seem that weird he can do the same thing. Also at the time ed took over pride, they were physically connected by prides shadow tenticles going into Ed's blood, a factor that seems to be nesscary for domination, considering both envy's and pride's attempts, so in conclusion, if Ed had a stronger will and appifany of ps stone useage xD it doesn't seem weird he could mentally overtake pride, i highly doubt he PHYSICALLY went into prides body lol, i think it was a completley mental thing or Ed's conciousness temporarily entering Prides body and overthrowing him, and considering he was about to loose his body to Pride, I also don't think it surprising that his soul was doing all it can to prevent that happening. Strange things happen when you're desperate xD

edit: also technically pride is like a brother to Ed, they share the same blood as Pride put it, so just as it was in theory easy for Pride to overtake Ed, perhaps the same works vice versa

I mean who'd have expected that giant vat of oil to come back again, or for Kimblee to pay off?

I like that Kimblee only turned up and started interfering because Pride became willing to move into Ed's body. It's a great moment to show Pride for who he really is. He's been the most elitest of the Homunculus, chastising Wrath for liking humans, viewing Greed as weak for letting himself be taken over by Ling, telling Kimblee humans have no place in the world so the fact that in the end, he was stripped of his Pride and became willing to become human, just to survive, is great.

And Kimblee's appearance, well just go back and see his speech about who will win, humans or homunculus? Of course he'd prevent Pride from cheating in this game.

As for Ed turning into a philosophers stone... why are so many people confused by this concept? It's not like it's come out of no where. Ed has proven he's able to do this before and this time he just used it to find the real Pride in amongst all the souls inside his stone and remove the real Pride. To me what happened was a result of Pride also trying to take over someone who, let's face it, is stronger mentally and it rebounding on him. No one cried fowl when Pride appeared inside Al's mind while he was controlling him, so this makes just as much sense.

To quote Doctor Who; 'a door once opened, can be passed through in both directions'

I also love that Pride says 'mama' and that Kimblee states that Pride knows nothing when Pride says Ed's going to kill him.

While things look dire for the alchemists... they seem to be setting up everyone else to get involved in that fight as well.

In fact why does it seem like the master Alchemist, the man who prides Alchemy above everything, is going to get taken down by a bunch of humans who can't even use it?

Admittedly, I was confused at what exactly happened to Al back then. This scene actually clarifies things quite nicely.

Anyway.. before, when using alchemy, they were drawing energy off Father's PS, right? But now, Scar used the reverse circle, so they can use the Earth's crust's energy, right? But how do they know how to use it? Didn't they only learn the alchemy which draws off energy from Father's stone? Is it because they saw the Truth? ;f well, it'd be understandable, but if someone would use a normal circle now, it'd still draw the energy off Father's stone, right? :F
Since I realized that the alchemy energy's source was Father (I noticed that around vol 17), I thought that after defeating Father (as a source) they'll have to learn other way of drawing energy off anything before they'd use the alchemy (and, for example, go to Xing to learn rentanjutsu <3)... Damn you, Cow, destroyed my beautiful keikaku. heh, I didn't thought of HOW they'll defeat Father without knowing how to use other source, though XD
