I'll be back later and fill out the rest of the first post. ^^
Michiyo-
- Royai phone call scene at the beginning: it made me really happy. smile.gif
- I’m surprised that Bones actually did a Youswell flashback.
- Armstrong sisters! laugh.gif
- Nice fight scene with Scar and the chimeras. And Ed and Al didn't want to stay away from it.
- They shortened the Winry and Scar conversation. Most likely they’ll leave that for the next episode.
- Good cliffhanger at the end.
Overall I liked this episode, it had really good animation.
penguintruth
My intial thoughts:

Oh, look... it's that guy and the other one. I can't be bothered to learn the name of the curious chimera extras.
- Animation boost!
- Woah, that Al and Mei moment is... creepy.
- Alphonse is a cute/annoying girl dispenser! Estrogen Pez!
- Oh god, FINALLY a rundown of what happened in Youswell! OH WAIT. TOO LITTLE, TOO LATE. MOVE ON.
- Well, that was a waste of time. Thanks, Bones.
- Animation boost #2! Let's use it for this battle between Scar and two insignificant characters nobody cares about, instead of back when interesting characters were battling!
- How effing hard is it for two hulking beastmen to kill ONE MAN?! Homunculi have died easier!
- Winry is actually the LEAST annoying part of this episode. Who figured?
- I like this part where Buccaneer returns and talks to Olivier. Best part of the episode.
- Honestly, Amestrian soldiers are the stupidest soldiers in fiction. The Earth Federation from Gundam laughs at these guys. JUST. SHOOT. HIM. It's not like you guys really care about innocent people, stop pretending.
- Why don't the homunculi get character singles? I want my Greed song! Get Graham Acre singing, already!

Despite my griping, I found it to be a moderately good episode. Maybe I'll enjoy it more when I see it in better quality.

Going by screenshots alone for now:

- Everyones eyes have gone back to normal size, art is back on track.
- As Michiyo pointed out, looks like they've extended the Scar/Winry scene over two episodes. Seems longwinded.
Thalogens
Thanks for the screenshots Michiyo, I'm glad they left in the phone scene :3
Imma go find the raw o.o
FMAobsessed
Since I am only going by the screenshots, I can say that I am glad they left in the phone scene.

Also the picture of Mei, smiling, and all the hearts made me laugh.
Irena
- Phonecall! That was nice.
- Everyone's back to normal! No more ginormous eyes! Well, except for poor Riza, but it wasn't as bad as other episodes.
- I swear, Amestris soldiers are even stupider than storm troopers. xD
- I actually like that they put in the Youswell flashback, even if it was short; to me it was a fun "side story" in the manga.
- lol @ Ed giggling over his automail.
- Good to see that little conversation between Olivier and Buccaneer. (Although that toothy grin was a bit creepy.)

This episode felt kinda short, but then again all of the action-y ones do.

The art quality was a bit unstable. At some parts, it was really good and at some parts, it wasn't.

Other than that, my biggest complait is that this anime has been making Alphonse somewhat useless and boring. I know he didn't do much in the manga either, but he just seemed more competent there... The Elrics versus chimeras fight was quite Ed-centered in the manga as well, but there I didn't get the impression that Al was just standing in the background like an idiot... He seemed to have more personality in the manga, where when Ed started the evil laughter, Al inched away in a "I don't know this insane person" manner, and then when Ed lost his balance, Al called him an idiot. These are small things, but quite a bit of them have been missing from this adaptation, and I'm beginning to feel that it's making Alphonse quite boring, which is a pity considering that manga!Al is my favourite character.

The first episode of Brotherhood made a good job at showing that Al is actually useful. Can't they keep doing that?

I actually liked the Yoki flashback. I'm surprised it didn't feel more out of place than it did... All in all, the comedy in this episode felt less jarring than the comedy in this anime often does.

EDIT. Oh, the phone call in the beginning. That was done well.
IceSkadi
-I'm looking forward the subbed version to read the dialogue between Riza and Roy (even if I think that they didn't change it)

- Yoki's flashback is great.

- OMG Armstrong's sisters xD It's so funny that they recall the piano part that was both in the manga and in the previous anime.

- Mmm I don't really like the art of the battle between Scar and the chimeras. Besides I thought that Jelso was more greenish and less yellowish in his chimera form...whatever.

- Ed looks much better in this episode.

Good episode overall, but I will wait the subs to give a proper opinion of it.

Broken Chouchou
Pre-sub thoughts; This I like. They actually included the Youswell flashback biggrin.gif I would have preferred it had it been longer and more of an accurate retell, but then, that would harldy have fitted here. For what it was, I enjoyed it, and I'm happy that they put it in. It was funny, and very Brotherhoody with some of the series major music pieces playing in quite nicely. And nice how Yoki tries to rob the Armstrongs XD

The rest of the episode was alright I guess. Chimera fight was good, but I too, as someone else said, always imagined Jelso a lot greener. More 'Envy's true form' - green. Ed had some hilarious expressions this time around, particularly the scene where he enters the tavern and when he realizes how light his new automail is. This was a good episode. No glaring flaws or moments of irritation, but nothing that stood out too much either. Except, of course, the flashback tongue.gif
And, on a r@ndom note, Winry's scarf is pretty hideous.
ShadowCat17
I thought this episode was one of the best ones of late. The animation was consistently top-notch all through the episode, with an exception being for Riza, as usual. Also I liked how they were drawing Winry in this episode. I think FMA1 and most of FMA:B have been drawing Winry wrong. Not necessarily bad, but wrong. This episode got closer, I thought.

I need new music 15 episodes ago or else I'm going to pull my hair out. Oh wait...

Scar, chimera, and Ed fight was win.

Kimblee is not a happy camper :-P

The Yoki flashback was not bad at all. It would have been unnecessarily redundant to include a full episode for youswell, so they waited and told it with a different style. In FMA1 it was pretty serious and they used it to develop Ed's character. We all know what sort of person Ed is by now so the details weren't necessary. And it was hilarious too, I'm glad they added in the stuff w/ the gambling and the armstrongs.

What the heck was with Buccaneer's teeth? Totally went against all ways that he's typically drawn and it distracted from the scene lol
Kyelinn
Haven't got to watch the episode yet, but I can't decide which of Buccaneer's toothy grin's are more disturbing...

Though I learn more and more towards the anime one...xD

Winry Chan
I've only watched up to the Youswell flashback, when I couldn't stop laughing.

Thoughts:
o I liked Mustang's voice pretending to be the florist. XD
o With the way the anime's been, I was expecting to see the Briggs soldiers distracting the Central guys while Ed and Al hid Winry. I guess Bones doesn't want to over-explain everything, afterall.
o Nitpick - Didn't May meet up with the Elrics outside in the snow?
o Bones ships AlxMay. I'm pretty sure the Al's dialogue in the manga wasn't as obvious as this episode was.
o YOUSWELL. I've heard about classic films where the dialogue is added into the final edit, and the quality was bad (we researched them in school), but this is the first time I've seen one. It was a great homage to the time!

Will be back later after I've watched the rest. smile.gif

EDIT: Back.
o I liked Ed ignoring Yoki.
o Well, they included the tongue.gif the Briggs soldier had. I'm happy now.
o The chimera transformation was TRAUMATIZING. I don't know if I'll get to sleep tonight. O_O
o "Marcoh and Winry stay here, Al and I will go fight." I understand ignoring Yoki, but I was expecting a late reaction from May going "WHAT ABOUT ME?!"
o Nice animation for the fight with the chimeras, both the Scar part and the Elric part.
o So they moved the Scar/Winry scene a bit. That's okay. I liked the place they cut off at.

Everything else I think other people have commented on already. Including Buccaneer's smile. If the chimera transformation won't stop me from sleeping, I'll be seeing that smile in my nightmares.

Aahaha, I'm still laughing as I type this xD
And I think, Kyelinn, the reason he's that much creepier in the anime is that they drew all the teeth, which makes him look like he's baring his teeth. To eat you.

Uhmm, I watched the episode last night, but from what I can remember...
It's the first episode in a long time thats kept me interested!
I loved the Youswell mine thing, I loved the way it was done n_n
Kimblee still looks like a huge bug. And I read through some of the manga with him in, and in the manga, he isn't restricted to just two strands of hair hanging over his face, there were four in some parts. Plus the anime is exactly that, an animation... the movement is what concludes his buggyness.
EveningAlchemist
Just from the first scene I could tell it was gonna be an awesome animation episode! I thought Riza was especially beautiful (but she's always beautiful ^///^). May was adorable of course, and I hope she gets along with Winry later 'cause I think they'd be great friends! (Or sisters-in-law?) Ed was kinda cute in a mischievous way, getting excited over his new automail.
Plus the Yoki flashback was thrown in! But with a new twist... It was actually pretty hilarious with the Armstrong sisters in there, and the silent movie style made it just a little bit more interesting! Thank you Bones <3

Whoa! The chimera were more intense than I remember. So was the battle for that matter, and Winry too. She was very cool when she came up to Scar and asked him that question out-rightly. He answered so honestly that it's hard to think of him as completely a bad guy...

The music was very nice during the Olivier and Buccaneer talk. It was surprisingly pleasant and calm. X)

zonkiethegreat
I didn't "love" this episode. The pacing was good, and the animation was better. However, I think they wasted WAY WAY WAY too much time on the chimeras and the Youswell backstory.

While I was watching the Youswell story, all I could say was "is it over yet??? WHO CARES about Yoki???"

My favorite part : The Armstrong sisters attacking Yoki! That might have been the only good thing about the flashback.

I also agree that they made Riza much better looking in this episode. The last one she looked like a man.
Serb Alchemist
Does anyone know what's up with the sub episode!? There is nothing on Eclipse?

I really liked this episode, and I'm finally completley caught up! (let's see how long this lasts for...)

- I'm soooooooo happy they bothered to keep the phone call scene in, and to do it correctly! Riza was drawn a little better, too!!

- Al and Mei made me LOL with all their absurdness. BONEs totally ships this (it's hilarious!) I loved when he was like, "Wait, why am I defending myself as if I was two-timing?" So classic...

- Yoki flashback was funny. I'm trying to think of what someone who hasn't read the manga would think of that. I guess it's amusing enough. I liked that they kept it interesting by having it as a silent movie, with Yoki's commentary coming in at parts.
The Armstrong thing creeped me out a bit, though XD But it was all funny~ Especially Catherine throwing the piano...I just never, ever want to see Yoki dressed like that again 0_0

- Every episode, Scar's head shrinks and his shoulders broaden, and his muscles expand. There are so many screenshots where he is so unproportionate that it's scary.

- The fight scene was great, though. I always loved that fight because it was interesting and funny at the same time. The chiremas were icky, but it was just as I'd expect them to be, especially Jesso or whatever the frog guy is called. I liked when Ed threw Al at him (I haven't reread this in so long that everything amused me extremely)

- I loved the Olivia/Buccaneer scene, but his smile will give me nightmares for LIFE.

The animation was good this episode, too!

Oh and I love Kimblee's hat. I know this is totally irrelevant to everything, but I missed it so much in anime1 that I feel the need to say this at least once XDDDD
