Wow, this chapter looks like it's going to be a good one! Thanks to everyone who shared preview images with us and translated!

Officially not even a full year has passed since the start of the story. Ed was "nearly 16" for most of the time up until the "timeskip" from the winter time to current events. Now he's probably 16, so I guess maybe Ling might be too.

You know how the previous chapters were all building up, and each single chapter was more epic than the last? Back then, I still thought: FMA isn't coming to a close this soon. Now at the moment of the Promised Day, with Ed, Al and Izumi being sucked into the gate...my god... *bursts into tears* it's finishing... and I never realised Ling was hot until this cover...

Also, as much as everyone else loves grown up Ed, something about his face is off. At least to me. Or is it just that he's grown up? (and acquired such a hot body *drool*)

And I think I might faint from the epic-ness soon. I was screaming the whole way through the preview pages. Just the spoilers are overwhelming, I think I might faint when it comes to the actual chapter...

I love the grown up Ed picture, but I do think something is off. His eyes are a little bit crossed. They are almost Dragon Ball Z-ish

It's not just you: I dislike the entire cover only because of his face. Yes he looks grown up, but what's up with his eyes? It kills the entire picture.
But the Ling cover... Awesome! I am actually drooling! And he is 15 years old, this is sad!!

Fu Buccaner. The angry and teary face of Greed after Fu died is really touching. Another homonculi is nearly defeated. And where is Pride by the way? If Al is in central he should be somewhere near?

Am I the only who felt like he was a burden to Who in that fight ? I mean the guy get used like a shield by Wrath, get walked on, and finally is pinned to the ground for wearing a coat. Coats are cool, but practical they aren't

Is it me, or is Ed looking rather grown up from the back in this shot? I think Winry would collapse...

Hmm...according to a translation for one of the panel the creepy doctor says that 'This is just the first stage'. So, obviously he still has something else to do. I'm not even going to guess what he will do with Roy, Riza, and Scar since it just reopens the big debate about 'Riza getting killed' and etc, even if I say nothing to imply that.

Back to the actual ending, OMFG. I think the most frightening panel was with Izumi's fingers... D:

Oh, and did anyone think the chapter was ridiculously short? The actual page count was about 38-9, but it felt really short.

^I found it ridiculously awesome but not ridiculously short.

I think what might make it seem short to some people though is that the vast majority of the pages are spent on action scenes and not on dialogue. Dialogue progresses the storyline more, where as this chapter is mostly dedicated to a very violent battle with some plot development towards the end.

Since people start to discuss about pride and his whereabouts, I will tell my theory.
I bet, Greed (and Co) finishes Wrath almost off. And then... Pride will arrive and eat his daddy =3. Or something like this.

for me, the next chapter will be more exciting, because like u can see
we'll finally see what the homunculi will make to Roy open the gate
and I think, more than before, this will have nothing about Riza and that theory
about the human transmutation, because, after all, it's impossible to Roy make
a transmutation circle there...

And fuu, oh my god, Ran Fan saw everything, this battle don't finnish yet
and i want to see where Ed, Al and Izumi are now, maybe under all that true thing again?

Uhhhh....like what? There isn't anything that needs to be done.

It was her father's alchemy research/theory/whatever. It was what Roy needed to learn his flame alchemy. After the Ishval war, she wanted Roy to destroy it so that it could be never be used to give someone the power to commit mass murder like he had to in the war again. Hence, he burnt her back just enough so that it would be scarred over and rendered useless.

That's the story of the tattoo as shown in the manga and that's all there is to it. It wasn't foreshadowing, it was just a hint to her past before we saw it.



They don't always and the end of the chapter is blatantly the last page. Arakawa doesn't just draw pages until she runs out of page count, every chapter is generally left with a great cliffhanger moment. This is how she wanted to end this one, at a very powerful cliffhanger...plain and simple.

If you read the chapters around 72~78, if I remember correctly, none of those were over 40 pages. The shortest page count for a FMA chapter was 32 pages. It's true that most of the chapters are over 40 pages (I would say around 80% of them?) but not all of them are.

^ Yeah, I remember these shorter chapters. ^^


To be technically correct, the expected release date for the next chapter (or more accurately, the date for the next issue of GanGan mag to come out) is put there by the magazine editor. XD But yeah, I know what you're talking about. ^^ However, that one might have been NOT included/edited out by the person who scanned the magazine page when uploading and posting that page/ or who scanlated that page, since that "date notice" is usually placed at the bottom and outside of the panel frame and many scanlated chapters have that one edited out, and that is entirely up to the scanlator of that scanlation, so... we can't use that as a "proof" that not having it means that is not the end of the chapter.

Brief trans. There is likely some loss in translation. Not my problem though. =P
Use these translation at your own risk since it's a quickie trans. It's to the best of my ability for something done in 30 minutes.
I hope no one will use this for a scanlation... I don't know how accurate this is, so take it with a grain of salt. Please.
Wait for the raw to come out, and ppl with better translating skills can do a better trans from there.

Hey guys, I've been silently lurking on the forums here for a bit now and I finally decided to join. This chapter looks too epic to keep silent about. I'm really excited about Al possibly being close to getting his body back, but is this the best time for them to do that? I mean, we've seen the conditions that his body is in and it's not too good. If he gets it back now/soon he won't be able to help fight Father and the remaining homunculus.
