Superb chapter, one of the best if not the best of all that came out. Fight Bradley vs. Lin/Greed + Fu + Buccaneer was one of the best fights I've ever seen in any manga. Bradley is just awesome and the way he was injured was magnificent. It was completely unexpected (at least I didn't expect sth like this to happen). I hope though that Bradley will survive but because he killed Fu, Lan Fan will become a berserker and he will die "because love has to win". Lin will somehow become 2x stronger and the end. I hope it won't be like that but I'm skeptical about this. Personally I would like to see Lin dead, he's too annoying. It wasn't Bradley's fault that Fu died, it was Fu's, Bradley had to defend himself. In fact Bradley doesn't look like someone that would kill everyone without reason but since he was provoked... True, he killed all chimeras but it was to prevent information leakage, I don't think that he would chase those who would escape. Anyway, big plus for this fight. The next best thing in this chapter was Izumi's, Ed's and Al's absorption, I'm interested how it will turn out. All in all perfect chapter. Arakawa has shown that even at the end of a series shounen manga can be interesting.

just finished reading the chapter =3 things are really getting exciting now! Fuu telling ling to be a just king and then dieing that was so sad! TT_TT nuuuuuuuuuuu fuu *sob sob* can not wait for next month will be the longest wait ever!

Thoughts on the chapter:

Wow, it really, really is coming to an end soon, isn't it?

I liked how Greed and Fu interacted during their fight with Bradley ("It wasn't on purpose, young High--- er, shut up, you!"). I never cared much for the Xingese characters, but it was sort of sad to see the old man go. Let's hope Ling takes full advantage of Greed's powers from here on. I just want Greed to succeed, I don't care if Ling does.

On the front of the labs and the old mad scientist, I thought it might be something of that sort. The Fuhrer candidates, I mean. Though didn't most of them just die? Or is it that those actually are dead, and are just controlled with alchemy? Whatever it was, it's a distraction for the characters, and Ed and Al still aren't doing anything, other than being taken into the Truth-y eye.

Three sacrifices thus far, but Father still needs two more. Assuming Hohenheim is one of them, who is the other? Roy? Marcoh? Will one of them attempt to open the Gate to pull out the others, only to end up one of the sacrifices?

It's too bad it'll be a while before this chapter gets animated in Brotherhood. The fight with Bradley looks like it would be a great sequence.

If the new sacrifice is Roy or Marcoh, why the father didn't take him like he did with Ed, Al and Izumi?

Awesome chapter.

The fight was awesome, but ultimately sad!!! I can't believe Lan Fan was standing there, too, and saw Fuu's horribly sad death IDK what'll happen to Bucanner...

As for the second part of the chapter...I really wonder what is going to happen next (in chapter 100!!! WEEEE!) and I am already dying for October. Will Ed and Al FINALLY be reunited? I want to see everyone's reactions to them bein sucked into a pit of doom (other than their ZOMGWTF expressions), and...

As for the fourth candidate, probably Hoho, Fifth, perhaps Mei. We don't know what's happened to her, and if Father still doesn't know who he wants, well, she's walking right into his room. All the other alchemists I can think of were right there with the other sacrifices, so I don't see how they could be one as well unless Father suddenly is like, "Oh, I counted wrong" and pulls one of them in *shrugs* We'll see!

I looooved the chapter pic and the GanGan covers, though!! OMG Ed has grown so much!!

Bradley has had a direct hand in the genocide and murder or countless people. He's an awesome character, he has reasons for what he does, but in the end by his own admission he's not a 'true king.'

I've always wondered how someone would get to him, stabbing through a dying ally's body and blood spray to get to Wrath was pretty frickin awesome.

Holy CHEESE that chapter was awesome. O__O It has been a really long time since I read anything that kept me on the edge of my seat like that. Now I remember why I love FMA so much.

All of a sudden my liking for Wrath has shot up about 100x. That fight has transcended bad@ss into a realm that I don't even know the name of.

Okay it has now been 15 chapters since we last saw Winry Isn't she supposed to be the MAIN female character? Well at least Al was in this chapter,but if it gets to the point where we haven't seen Winry in 20 chapters that will be INSANE!! Why can't Arakawa draw Winry for 1 little panal on one page,she could be worrying about Ed or something. I miss her so much

I'm enjoying the lack of Winry. And anyway, what use would she be right now?

Well she wouldn't be any use in the current situation,but I am just saying Arakawa could show her thinking about Ed and Al or something... I just miss seeing her and I think other fans do too...

Yeah, I miss her too... And Arakawa owes us some more EdWin after all that awesome Royai stuff!

But I don't think bringing her back right now would be a good idea. I personally LOVE Winry as a character (maybe 'cause I've read too much awesome fan fiction about her, lol), but it would be kinda pointless and disrupt the flow of the story if we suddenly dropped her in the middle of things, I think. Unless Arakawa has something up her sleeve, of course.

The only thing comes to my mind is bringing her as a hostage when the final battle comes to the final stage just to make things difficult for Ed.

Fuu and Bucaneer heroic death was awesome, even though the second one's current situation isnt for sure i think he died too. Geez, Ling has sync with Greed even more, it seems like his powers are being wasted. Nice to see Al again!

No, check their number : they're all above number 12, which was Bradley's number. They're just the ones that were left behind because the experiment was a success with number 12, a.k.a King Bradley. Given the amount of trouble they went through to train them and the amount of skill they have because of that training, it would have been a waste to destroy them, so they kept them for a special occasion.

However, how Gold Tooth managed to make them a little bt more than puppets, I don't know. The brain washing techniques he uses must be quite efficient!



It's a sorting algorithm, it's as simple as that. Given the size of the circle and the fact that Gold Tooth probably doesn't know the face of all the sacrifices, and is probably much less capable of putting enough information into that circle to get all of them, he simply created an algorithm that says "open the Door and catch anyone who has already seen it". It's a simple boolean condition for getting the people they want, even if it means that some of them would have to be caught "manu militari", most of them are now taken care of and they can focus on the fifth one, probably Roy or Marcoh.

Whew, just tried looking up what a "boolean condition" was on Wiki; it made my brain hurt. Reminded me how much I hated math in school!

As far as the chapter goes, while I suspect Ran Fan may get to be the one to finish off Wrath, I also wouldn't have minded Mustang getting to have one last encounter with him. Not to necessarily put in the finishing blow, I mean (Ran Fan certainly deserves that), but just some closure between them. In fact, I can't remember the last time they were in a scene together. I would basically just like to know what Wrath would say to Mustang at this point in time, after all that's happened.

I also hope "Gold Tooth" doesn't hang around too long. He's creepy, but not particularly interesting or 3-dimensional - he's basically comes across as just a bit of a plot device. Just your run-of-the-mill mad scientist. I'm looking forward to Father taking over the show. O_o

And like everyone else, OMFG EDWARD!! Izumi! Al! *sigh* Yes, long wait this month. For the sake of my sanity, I'm going to have to just try not to think about it... put it all away in a separate mental box until the 12th of October rolls along. *sweatdrop*

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?!

I've found myself yelling that at the end of so many of the chapters recently. Christ these cliffhangers are mean. They seem to have essentially just killed the two main characters, for crying out loud! With plenty possibility for return, but still!

Anyway, freaking gripping chapter. Edge of the seat with the suicide attack and the results of it. As well as badass action - the first time we see Wrath get hurt? Looks like that guy from the other month's theory was correct? (sorry, I can't remember who it was, but they said Wrath's weakness was that he couldn't regenerate)

Two questions though? The gate disturbs animals like Hohenheim does - does that mean something? And what is the deal with Ling's powers and hardening or whatever?

While I was gripped, this thing with Fuu and Buccaneer still being alive this far have me a little worried about something that has been touched upon in previous chapters. The mortality of certain characters. I mean I think it's safe to say that Ling is definitely NOT going to die by the end of this - which takes away from the tension somewhat.
Fu and Buccaneer are minorish characters and are seemingly fairly old, which is why they could be killed off, but god forbid any of the young 'uns or your Roy Mustangs die at this stage.
And I am concerned that somehow Fu or Bucky will actually survive. Somehow. Considering how much they've survived so far.

BUT COOL NINJA STUFF IS ROCKING. Next month: Ran Fan?

From the other month? Are you kidding me? People has been saying this for a long time now, even if for some kind of reason they were never taken seriously. I mean, the guy would be unbeatable if he could regenerate Plus it made him that much more badass to think that even without the regeneration, he was still better than all the other Homonculus. Heck, you could say that it's the lack of regeneration that made him so strong, because he had to train. And when you see how efficient are the non-powered candidates for the Führer position, you understand that training accounts for probably 90% of King Bradley's strength.



Buccaneer is probably Alex's age I think, not so old. I personnaly expect Roy or Ling to be wounded very severely in the end, or not succeeding to reach their goals. They both have competition after all. Ling's competition especially is perhaps even more driven than him.

Really? Hah. I'd only heard someone say it recently.

Though with the age thing, I meant more in comparison with the teen characters.

WOW AWESOME! This chapter has amazed me. Two heroic deaths in one chapter, nice ;p. Also, it looks like Bradley is going to die now. Also, Ed, Al and Izumi getting inside the void and facing the Truth (literally) was a good and surprising idea. I wonder if they get their bodies back. But two cliffhangers in one chapter was too much. Seems that chapter 100 will be awesome, but I hope that Arakawa won't end FMA with it (too much stuff unsolved and FMA is too awesome to end now).

I read the chapter last night and I practically died when I got to the end. I can't believe Bradley got stabbed! He's one of the three remaining, Father-created homunculus, right?
As for Ed, Al, and Izumi!... I can only guess that now they're at the Gate, and who knows what is waiting for them.

I'm a bit confused about that weird old guy though. I'm assuming he was one of the old scientists with some sort of background in alchemy (alkahestry?). Anyone know, or have a theory, what his exact purpose is and why he only showed up recently?

@TheChibiMafia - He is somewhat of a familiar figure to us. He is the one who conducted the experiment that had created King Blradley. Though, I can't remember which chapter had that Bradley's flashback when he was telling Roy how he became King Bradley. I'm sure others can fill in and post the link to that part.

O.o The follow up to Hoho vs Father hasn't been covered yet, and I don't think she had room for them in this chapter; So maybe he Hoho got pulled in as well?

I really loved chapter 99. Right from the Ed and Ling covers. Ling really does look too old for 15, but oh well.

It still amazes me how anime and manga characters can keep on moving when they have life threatening injuries. But now I am wondering where Ed, Al, and Izumi went and whether they will meet up anywhere. I feel like Al will get his body back soon.
