To me, there's no point in showing either Youswell or 'Battle on the Train' as they were covered already in the first series - so why show it again? I mean, stuff they already aired previously had been trimmed for Brotherhood (case in point, ep. 25 of the first series was already ep. 10 in Brotherhood).

I'd love for the unaired content to be Ishval, but it just may be another gaiden.

In any case...

This contains a drama CD as well as the BD and eyecatch cards.

that is so awesome kale, I can't wait to see what's inside and what is the drama about.

The thing is, I can't think of anything else that could have been adapted that wouldn't be either a gaiden or just a few scenes that were skipped in an otherwise finished episode. It's supposed to be a whole new episode, not an extension of an existing one, right?

And as you just pointed out, Brotherhood's early episodes were trimmed down from the way they were adapted in the first series, so I can easily imagine that Youswell & Bald were going to be two halves of the same episode; then somebody in charge didn't like the structure or pacing of it, so they quickly turned the story of Yoki into a brief mention in the next episode.

As far as a gaiden goes, it could they could simply build upon stuff they've already cut to flesh out scenes - Ishval being a major one, but they could also do the Elric Family omake. The part with Bald was to introduce Haruko (who's only seen again from the North v. East training exercises) and Roy. Since Roy was already shown in ep. 1, why go through the trouble of re-introducing a character that's already been introduced? For Yoki, I did kinda miss his introduction - but they were able to illustrate him rather well with the recap (as well as include the bit with the Armstrong sisters), but Youswell itself was a rather slow piece in the manga whereas Lior actually had a major point to it.

Woot, unaired episode? ohmy.gif Sweet! biggrin.gif

I have a question: Does anyone know if the cleaned up, edited DVDs/Blurays have had, or might have, soundtrack rearrangements?

The score so far has been very repetetive at times, and several songs have been overused so much that your ears gets a little suicidal when you hear them.

I was just thinking, as the OST of the series is growing, and new songs are introduced, is it possible that they'll go back and add or switch old tracks for newer ones? Rearrange the placement of music, to make the soundtrack less tedious? Does this happen at all, or is it completely unlikely and someting that'll never happen?

Soundtrack's the same on the DVD/BD release as it is when the ep. airs. No re-arrangements whatsoever. All they mostly do is go back an correct anything that seemed out of place from the original airing.
Broken Chouchou
Aright, too bad -.- Thanks for your answer, Kale.

Anyway, on the content of this un-aired episode, whether it is something to flesh out the early part of the story, more in-depth Ishval content, gaidens, or something completely original, I think I shall be happy. The more the merrier, a saying that couldn't be truer than with Brotherhood tongue.gif

I hope Funimation includes these sort of extras, as well as the gaidens and 4komas, into the DVD releases.
Hopefully in the 'complete season' collections too, which are the ones I tend to buy, and in which not much at all was included last time around. Granted that there wasn't that much extra material produced for the last series, I think.

Thanks for posting the cover!

I'm glad to see Riza on there but either her legs are too big or her head is too small. oO

Thank you. She looks chubby to me.

Huh? Her head's proportional... She's always had a rather noticeable bust when she wears that shirt and since the pants are baggy and high-waisted, it's why the thighs look big. I have a figure of that exact pose (from the first anime) and that's exactly how she looks when I stare directly at that figure.

I like the simple look of the cover really.
A Pierrot's Aria
Hm. oO Perhaps it's just me, then. xD Perhaps it is the bagginess of her trousers that's throwing me off... But I am glad that she isn't the typical anorexic anime girl.

Very. I like that she's got some curves to her. But yeah, a form-fitting shirt like that plus high-waisted, baggy trousers tucked into boots would give anyone some weird proportion to their body - especially for the thighs.

Which naturally is how a female soldier should look like. Hence the realism.
A Pierrot's Aria
^Yeah, I agree. : )

Sorry if I annoyed you guys. I genuinely was thrown off by her trousers on the first look. At first glance it looked like she had really long thighs/upper legs until I remembered that her trousers look half mast because they're tucked into her boots.

It's what I've always loved about Arakawa's work; the fact that she actually puts meat on her characters. happy.gif

Nah! Definitely haven't annoyed, as at first glance, I was kinda hesitant when I saw the picture. But then, looking into the look, it's not like a soldier has to look sensual in the uniform tongue.gif

Wasn't annoyed at all smile.gif. Most just slightly miffed at the initial reaction since Riza looked normal to me.

I friggin love Hawkeye, so it's good to see her get a cover all to herself. But I wish she was doing some sort of awesome action pose.
But I still like it.

Do we know which episodes are included?

You're not the only one, I thought her legs looked ginormous too.

Yeah, and I do like the fact that the women in FMA aren't waifs. They're sexy and well built, but in a realistic and attainable way.

IIRC, it's 27, 28, 29, 30.
deet-tastic
30? You'd've thought it would have been an Ishval related cover.. That would have been really neat.
The hawkeye-ness could have been inspired by her role in telling Ed about it though. Hmmm.

I see father and greed. smile.gif

EDIT EDIT:
Do I spy a new scene? Did Wrath ever kick Greed? I don't remember this, and I have watched this fight many times.
Vlyse
I hope this means we'll get some info soon on the "special unaired episode" that is to be released in the 8th DVD.

@Deet-tastic
I posted that in the News thread a little earlier. happy.gif

I found it interesting they showed scenes from episode 14, which won't be included in the actual product. And spoilers to boot.

And yeah, Wrath kicks Greed at 4:44 on Eclipse's, that particular shot you posted is just very fast. smile.gif

Doesn't Funimation's first release have the first fifteen episodes? Amazon says as much. Which means yes, we will be getting that scene on there.

It's weird that the rest of the commercial is mostly from the first few five episodes and then that one, but nothing in between like Lab 5.

As soon as I get a bit more cash, I'll pre-order it.

Edit: Oh, I guess it's just the first thirteen. That's weird. They should at least have added episode 14 since it was the end of that section of the show.

I guess the idea they were going for was "You remember seeing all this on TV, don't you?" followed by "WHAM! Bet you can't guess what that was all about!"

I think they stuck with 13 eps. as tradition, considering that most consider series' first season is 13 eps. I honestly think they should just release it with 14 eps. as well simply because the second OP/ED start with ep. 15.
A Pierrot's Aria
I hope it's okay to post this news, but I don't think we're going to get an early DVD release in the UK...On Amazon.co.uk it has the release date as August 23rd. It was nice thinking it would come out here earlier, although I'm still hoping that I'll be proved wrong somehow. xD

As much as I love Hawkeye and that cover, I was wanting an Ishval themed one for the DVD box set that had episode 30.
Oh well.
Broken Chouchou
Anyone heard any more of that unaired episode? I remember reading a couple of weeks ago that one of the DVDs would include it, not sure which colume it was..

So does this bonus episode count as a the new OST? Like Blind Alchemist or Simple people?

@deet-tastic - You mean... not OST but "guiden," right? unsure.gif Since we don't know anything about the content of this "unaired" episode yet, so far we can't say whether it is like guiden or not. It could be, but it may not be. tongue.gif

Oh dur. Blonde moment, sorry about that. Yeah I didn't mean to say OST.

Well, either way.. if they say "bonus episode" I assume it's safe to say it will be about 20-25 minutes.

unaired episode? really? i don;t know any about that,, anybody can explain? ( _ _)

Olivier looks very cool. biggrin.gif

I'll post the HQ version soon.
Broken Chouchou
That's pretty GLORIOUS. Makes me want to buy the volume just for the cover :F

Edit - Oh yeah, we get the secret, unaired episode on this one. Shall be awesome. They should include it in the season box sets too, right? (I could NEVER afford to buy all the single volumes...)
Michiyo-
High quality cover

Yeah, the unaired episode will be on this DVD, I can't wait to see it. And the Limited Edition DVD/BD comes with a storage box with Arakawa's drawing, to hold DVDs 9-12 . I hope the box cover will be up soon. smile.gif

Whoo-hoo for Olivier as the cover for vol. 9 (looking quite regal as the Ice Queen of Briggs).

Have all my stuff pre-ordered from Amazon.jp so just a matter of waiting (so expensive though... ;_;).
esk
about the unaired episode... I found this in yesasia:

第32話「大統領の息子」
第33話「ビリッグズの北壁」
第 34話「氷の女王」

and... google translation tongue.gif :
QUOTE

31 talk, "Sens promise 520."
32 stories of the "son of the president."
33 talk, "north wall Birigguzu"
34 story "Ice Queen"

Image Award ■: 4 Koma drawn Hiromu Arakawa / unaired story "master narrative"

It's the same title of the gaiden about Izumi's apprenticeship in Briggs? huh.gif
Tombow
^ Nice find, esk!! Thank you!! biggrin.gif

That can be about Izumi in the North, or... possibly on Hawkeye sensei?? unsure.gif
A Pierrot's Aria
^I hope it's the latter. biggrin.gif But I think it'll definitely be the former. sleep.gif;

(Thank you for posting the info, esk!)
deet-tastic
Whether it's the latter or the former, Both would be exciting smile.gif
Here's where it cofuses me though. They say "unaired episode" That wouldn't be about the former. Because the former was in an actual omake. So that would just go alongside Blind alchemist and Simple People. Wouldn't it? And I don't see how that would have been an "unaired episode"
Considering how butchered up episode 30 is, I think it's going to be about the latter. That would fit more as an "unaired episode"
I'm wondering when this DVD comes out. It could prove a point if the DVD comes out at the same time episode 54 airs.
Since the latter has something to do with it.
A Pierrot's Aria
^I really hope that's the case...I wouldn't really be interested in watching Izumi's apprenticeship. Then again..."Master's narrative" could be another way of saying the title of said gaiden.
