Summary of chapter 90:


Ed and the gang head for raiding the Central underground and fight Father. Marcoh and Yoki stay behind. Ed tells Al that he is heading for the Central underground.

Olivier easily kills the Central military officer who was pointing gun at her with her sword work, then shoots and kills other brass officers in the Central HQ.

Danny catches up with Alex Armstrong but it seems Danny is not the part of Roy and the gang. He heard that Mustang and the gang have kidnapped Mrs. Bradley, and he is mad at Mustang, calling him a devil.

Alex hears the news that his sister, Olivier killed officers in HQ.

Mr. Fuu walks around the town and gather info on how things are going. He senses that in the underground, that strange "chi" is spreading around.

Selim keeps tapping Al's detached helmet. Father sensing/hearing it????

Once inside the HQ compound, Hohenheim splits Ed and the gang in two. Hohenheim and Ranfan go one way, and the rest goes the other way. But, once on separated way Hohenheim let Ranfan go off to find Ling, saying "he must be a very precious person to you..." and he goes alone to search and then fight Father. Ranfan thanks him for letting her go from the ceiling. (nice scene. ^^)

Elsewhere underground of HQ, officer wakes up "artificial army soldiers" despite the protest of the scientist that they haven't finished testing the completion of the "soul attachment process."
The awakened artificial soldiers start attacking officers and scientists.

Ed and the gang open a door and run into this zombie soldiers.

Back at the dorm where Al and Selim have been trapped... Zampano realizes that Selim has been sending a Morse code on this location by tapping Al's detached helmet. Just as he yells Al to stop Selim from doing that he is attacked by Kimbley.

Kimbley destroys the dorm and frees Selim. Al is once again becomes a hostage!!

The vast amount of colour pages made me squeal with delight, especially the artwork of Edward and Alphonse for the second series. Hohenheim's brief exchange with Ran Fan made me happy inside.

I like how happy Hohenheim looks. It's a sort of melancholy-tinged happiness, but it's still happiness. Before I read the translation, I had the impression that he was letting Ran Fan go and he was going off to be self-sacrificial in a soon-to-come epic battle. (Hoho vs flask, the ultimate fight.)

...After reading the translation, I still get that impression about Hohenheim.

P.S. Page 35 was skipped in the translation. I'm wondering what Heinkel was saying to Al before realizing that Pride was using morse code. Thank you. (Poor Heinkel!)

Thanks for the translation. It made me realize that Al is not alone with the two maniacs. In the beginning Dr. Marco agreed to sat back with Al and Pride as well. Maybe he'll spring into action. That would be interesting.

I think it was a mistake from the translator and not by Arakawa Sensei.

You see from the original bubble "以前 (Before) アル と 大佐 (ARU and The Colonel) が 侵入 (Intruded Into *as we know the 3rd laboratory*) して ラスト と 闘ってる (And Fought With Lust)"

Edo never said anything about himself being at the scene or anything.

Don't forget about Yoki Personnaly, I think Marcoh will be captured easily, it's a convenience for the plot : Al and Marcoh, two people needed by the Homonculus, are gathered in one place and now have to face two of the top three foes (consisting of Pride, Wrath and Kimblee). They will be captured, and Yoki will most likely avoid capture and warn the others. I can even see Yoki becoming the first man Kimblee forgot about, emphasizing Yoki's "loserness" yet giving him the opportunity to help the others.

From your predictions I guess is Yoki will manage a miracle escape or might not LOL when Kimblee captures Aru, Marco and that lion kimera old man (hope he doesnt die, poor him T_T)

But Yoki is a 2 headed snake, to my point of view he will take sides with whom ever he has benefits from.
Relying on him telling the others that Aru-tachi is captured, therefore lol I have no idea if this will happen or not.

So far are the Human pillars Edo, Aru, Hohenhiem, Izumi Sensei and Mustang Taisa?
Do they need Dr. Marco for making more red stones or to Activate the Alchemy Circle for Father's Plan?

...It irks me that Pride was sending the Morse code for a long time (wasn't he doing that in the previous chapters too?!) and NONE of the characters noticed anything! I mean, they're a bunch of military people and/or secret code geeks, and yet it took forever before it dawned to even one of them.

Yay !! If this is the Promise day that's mean EDWIN WILL BE BACK TOGHETER SOON !!
So happy !! This chapter seems like a really big suspence who will decide the end of FMA. Hope that the good will win same if this looks like a kind of clishey. I can't wait to see Ed and Winry togheter again... I pray that Arakawa will let Edward lives and Al too. Nobody has the right to kill them ! I'm very serious !

@ Robespinner : I don't think it was morse before Father found Pride. There might also be the explanation that Heinkel has the best ears out of all the chimeras, who knows? Or perhaps that Pride started to hit the helmet harder after he was sure that everyone was gone, because there didn't seem to be any sound coming out from the dome when Ed talked to Al.

Don't worry about it, it's hard to remember all the details of such a long story like this anyways

Thank you everyone who did work! (Translators Scans ect.) because of you I can enjoy FMA without having to wait forever to buy it. This chapter was good! i loved the RanFan and Hoho scene. It was kinda like in the movies when the Dad tells his daughter to go chase after the one you love. Classic! The Zombies were really creepy and scary and as usual Ed is hilarious.

The immortal army needs their own survival horror game.

I just have to know what is going to happenend next!

Wow, that zombies... just wow. I still think the souls of Xerxenians will eventually join the good side. They recognize Hohenheim or something. They deserve to be the ones to kill (chew to death) Father, poor things.

GreedLing will have to settle things up with Ran Fan, which should be easy, as he is awesome. Similarly, King Bradley will have a word with his wife, accompanied by Roy if something was to go wrong. Mei will reappear with Envy, because she's dumb. Selim will take up Al's armor again, and bring him to Father to be used during the eclipse.

I wonder what plan Hohenheim has to stop the transmutation. The only thing that comes to my mind is killing the human sacrifices... and he himself can't be killed. But then, he's a master alchemist and an old friend of Father.

And the last theory - Riza is going to be killed at some point of the story. Homonculi still need one human sacrifice alchemist, and Kimblee is not an option. So I think they'll kill someone Roy loves so he can try and revive her. And she's got that symbol tottoed on her back, so she won't really die, or something

First off, thank you to all who took the time to post and translate and what have you. You all are wonderful!

Second... this chapter makes me just love Hohenheim! He's always been a pretty likable character, and his little interaction with RanFan this chapter was nice. He's also pretty intelligent (duh...) and he kind of has a father/son moment with Ed. "You're horrible." I laughed.

The zombies freaked me out. I didn't really have a clear idea of what they were doing until they chomped on the military guy. I can see Hohenheim stopping Father somehow and watching all of them just kinda fall over.

Now I'm all hyped up for 91, and it won't be out for a month!

Once again there was no EdxWin in this chapter!! I was kinda expecting Winry to at least show up in this chapter since we haven't seen her since chapter 84 (i think) Id rather see her then Armstrong's STUPID sister she's boring.
Well at least i got a good laugh when Ed jumped out and said Help me soldiers Im the state alchemist Edward Elric, Scar's attacking me,please save me! his facial expressions were hilarious. I really hope Winry shows up in the next chapter,and i don't mean her coming to Ed and Al,i just want to see her!

If Bradley has a word with his wife, I don't think Mustang would be in the vicinity. He would most likely be tied up and unable to move. Wrath is that powerful.

He must have created the famous counter-circle that uses Elixirology and that Scar's crew found out.



Marcoh is an option too for the sacrifice, don't forget it. Unless they can't find Izumi, they can still use Marcoh instead of Mustang.

I've checked it and you're right - the soldier says they made the philosopher's stones. Still, I think he could mean all the stones made by the dark side. The zombies don't behave like the "fresh" stones, which were made of criminals or soldiers mainly and turned into chimeras. They remind me of Envy's real body and all the kids screaming for their parents, not remembering how it is to have a body. Also, we're shown Father connected to pipes running through the city and that this force is stronger now and moving. So I guess it could be moving to the zombies.

And anyway, if something cries in a mutated body and screams for daddy, I'd think it's going to end being good (or at least useful).


*shrug* So was Lust and she wasn't showing any signs of humanity or liking her human family.


Oh yeah, that could be it. Maybe that's why he was travelling for so long instead of taking care of his kids.


Marcoh is an option and we know he can't sacrifice an innocent even if it means many more deaths, so he's a pretty easy choice. But that would be boring, so I'll stick to Roy... and it feels right after so many times homunculi had to remind us that they CAN'T KILL Mustang.

Whatever Hohenheim's counter is, it must involve all those souls he spilled out of his chest about 10 chapters ago.

I have a question:
Someone mentioned Arakawa-sensei wrote somewhere in the newest chapter (90) there is still one arc missing until the end of the Manga. Is that true? I've never heard something about that up until now.

Man, how I dislike Mei She appeared out of the blue, with her ten year old body, huge boobs and hair like in some sick adult fantasy. Ed and Al fight desperately to save Ling and she just dances into the scene with some super-alchemy nobody heard about before and proves to be the only thing Father can't fight. Awesome, Mary Sue was the only thing this manga lacked. She makes a teary face when she lost her bitchy panda and our uber-villain Scar goes to look for it like he was some puppy of hers!
