i don't think so. If they want to introduce all the characters who appeared only in manga and if it's a strict adaptation, the new season might start at a lot early from that chapter.

But, I have slight disappointment that they are not continuing the story after the first season and the movie. Well, it's better than having to dream about a new inexistent series.

Roy does look weird in that teaser. When I compared it to the manga, I still could not tell where the problem is. Roy in the manga looks fine to me. I wonder how Riza looks like in the new series.

I agree. I'm still reading the manga right now, and they've actually just gotten to the North and had that incident with Sloth coming up outta that hole in the ground. That's way too far in to start it; it would confuse people horribly.

And ditto about your disappointment there. I was really hoping for a continuation from CoS. *Sigh*

Why? It's not going to start at some point that would leave newcomers confused, if it follows the manga it will begin exactly where the manga does. I don't get why people seem to think otherwise.

That's actually another reason why I think they'll start from the beginning, cause the TV series and the manga are slightly different from really early episodes and some important changes in it make the hole difference. I can't see a way of them doing otherwise.

Well, I thought that the season two won't start in the beginning of the manga because the first episodes of the anime were pretty much similar with the manga. (uhh... I'm talking about Rose's town and the issue with the Sun God...) Uhh... but then again, maybe I got that wrong... x.x

Well to make things simple, don't think of it as a season 2. It's a completely new series, all on it's own. It'll be made so new people can watch this and fully know the story without having to see the other series.

I love the shading, so detailed and delicate. Look at Ed's arms - the real one is, well, real and the way his automail is shining... His face is mature and determined, his pose is full of power and confidence. Al is scary and mysterious and the whole scene is dramatic. I know it's just artwork and anime will be much less sophisticated, but still, I predict this incarnation of Ed may be much less emo than the one from the first series. AND he'll be taller, which is awesome in itself.

Funimation At Comic Con:

So I went to the New York Comic Con today and talked to a Funimation rep. This is what I was able to discover from him about the upcoming season of FMA.

1) He referred to it as "Season 3" (not sure if that's significant or not)
2) Funimation began talks to acquire rights as soon as the series was announced
3) They are trying to get ALL of the english VA's back with the possible exception of Aaron Dismuke because "his voice has kinda dropped a little bit"
4) DVDs should hit shelves about 9 months after the rights are acquired
5) Funimation has no more information than us about what the plot/storyline is.

That's literally all he knew (or was allowed to tell me).

May I just say today was the frist time I managed to watch the trailers. I was really pumped my blood was boiling with excitment and adraneline. Then... Roys face appeared on screen and I laughed so hard the whole library looked at me and I fell of my chair.

Nine months after the rights are acquired? And if the rights will be aquired by Funimation (which seems likely), does anybody have any idea approximately how long that kind of stuff takes? Do they have to wait for Bones to finish the whole first season (or more?) before they can get their hands on it? Hope all the bussiness talk will be settled soon enough...

(...just realized that since I live in Europe, it's probably going to take even longer for the show to air or for the dvds to get distributed over here... aw man...)

And about number 3): Personally I don't get how people can prefer the english VAs before the original japanese ones. Especially since it's been confirmed that Romi Paku will reprise her role as Ed (yes! ).

Okay, so now that I'm rewatching the video a day later and it's not in the middle of the night, I'm feeling a lot more collected. So here's what I think of the teaser now that I'm not blinded by excitement:

Ed looks great in the first cloesup of him with his automail.

The fact that it's Romi voicing him is more than I was actually expecting. Hurray!

The second shot at Ed is slightly less awesome, though goodlooking nonetheless.

Al looks a little bit different in the closeup of his face

The big, creepy eye a la manga is pretty cool.

Music is really moody and dramatic, sounds like the new composer might know what he is doing.

Nope, hence why they've licensed Soul Eater despite it being on going.

If I remember they just have to see one or two episodes normally but even then there are no set rules for when they can try and license something.

SQUEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!! *bounces and runs around in circles* I can't wait!! I'm still nervous and wondering if the quality of this new one will be as good as the old anime (manga awesomeness aside), but for now I'm just FREAKIN' EXCITED!!! Al looks AWESOME!! Ed looks so manga-ish, which is even MORE AWESOME!! And there's roughly just two months left to wait which is EVEN AWESOMER!!!
