As far as I know, there isn't a Brotherhood specific cover of again - just the regular CD cover and a slightly different one for the CD + DVD cover.

The single does come with two stickers: one being the human transmutation circle while the other was for the rear of the CD case:

Will never happen they're specifically separating this show from the old one as much as possible and that would include any music, regardless of how good it is.

I run into this fan dub (singing) of "Again" (Download link) while taking care of post with fun version of yet another fan-dub of "Again" posted by Powerlock here.

This one is "serious" version with real English translated Lyrics by geekymcgeekstein and sung and posted by Genesisx08 on Youtube, and it's rather impressive.

Check it out. smile.gif

^ Tombow, that's awesome! Thanks for posting that!! biggrin.gif
Trakonda
Wow Tombow- nice find! biggrin.gif That's pretty cool, indeed.

..heck, I think that with a little of retouch on some parts, it could have the potential to be used as an opening for the english dub!

Soundtracks are amazing (links to the music anyone?) but I don't really like op/ed songs except of Yui - Again. I guess I just am not a fan of j-rock, especially modern j-rock.

I have really fallen in love with Let It Out. It's so gorgeous, and I love how it ties into the plot in Ep. 22.

~ Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood Ost 1, What do you think? Here are some of my thoughts... ~

Now, having somehow... obtained... the Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood soundtrack, I have some thoughts to share on some of the tracks.

Of course, I don't think it compares at all to Michuru Oshima's beautiful score for the first series. However, there are some good tracks on there.

Here are some highlights:

Track 01: "Main Theme ~ The Fullmetal Alchemist"

This one is, I guess, the "Bratja" of the new series? I don't know, but supposedly it's the "main theme". I only remember hearing this particular track a few times, though, a rarity when it comes to this soundtrack. It's not a bad piece. It sort of reminds me of something Hiroshi Miyagawa might have done for Final Yamato.

Track 02: "Laws of Alchemy"

This one played frequently during the "rules of alchemy" openings the show used to have before the opening credits, and during the trailers. It's got an ominous feel to it.

Track 06: "Clash of the Alchemists"

We get this one during some combat scenes. I think it was featured in the first episode. I know I remember hearing it in the trailers for the show.

Track 07: "Lurking"

This little creepy tune usually plays when somebody is up to something. It has a fitting title.

Track 11: "One is All, All is One"

This one starts off as a bit of a somber piece, but is perhaps more sobering than sad, ultimately. Just looking at the title, makes you think of the coming into the knowledge the brothers came to when learning alchemy from their teacher.

Track 12: "Requiem for the Brigadier General"

This one, I'm sure we all remember, from episode 10, and its sad funeral scene. The first series used a somewhat similar tune for the same scene, but this is a softer version of a recurring theme.

Track 14: "Lullaby of Risembool"

I like this one, it's very... I don't know, journey-ish? It sounds like the music to a song about a hero who came from far away. It's a beautiful tune.

Track 20: "Fanfare for the Brave"

This one builds up real well, until you get the feeling of action and movement.

Track 21: "Trisha's Lullaby"

This is a vocal version of "Lullaby of Risembool", and seems like that song I was talking about. I'm not sure what is actually be sung here, though.

Track 27: "Lapis Philosophorum" (or, "The Philosopher's Stone")

This is the big boy of the soundtrack, the grandest, biggest stand out track. This is what we heard in episode 1 when Isaac realized the truth behind Ed and Al's bodies. The best track on the OST by far.

Track 30: "30. Overture ~Brotherhood~"

This has that "epic melodrama" feel to it, real sweeping. Almost soap opera like, but not as cheesy. More like the music from serialized mini-series dramas.

In my opinion, there were a lot of real generic sounding pieces, too, and I didn't experience much of that with the first series, but I'd have been wrong to just dismiss the whole soundtrack because of the lesser tracks.

Anyway, what are your thoughts?

i havent finish fma 1,but i am pondering whether to buy the soundtrack..anyway ,i will note out the tracks you say once i got it.btw i hope to listen one particular track where the cello and strings is played together:it's used in a lot of preview scenes, and where havoc dates lust.is it Lurking?

Kasumisty
So I will share my opinion as well.

Lets start with a quick comment to the every song, then I'll type my Top 5 10.

01. Main Theme ~The Fullmetal Alchemist~

Very mysterious, dark waltz. I just love that sad chores at the end. And overall, that opera-ish/symphonic feel of the whole soundtrack, especially this and few other scores.

02. Laws of Alchemy

Our "trailer" score xd Gives me pleasant chills (except thought we had to listen it at lots of beginnings of early episodes...). Gradually, music is getting more louder leaving one anxious. Love it.

03. again (TV Size) (YUI)

I don't think I need to explain why I love this one. The best opening of FMA ever made.

04. Nightfall in Central City

I would say it's a very pathos piece. It gets more calm and warm around the middle. I think it would made a great Amestrian's Army Anthem.

05. Fire in the Sky

Again, a darker piece. Nothing really to expand there.

06. Clash of the Alchemists

Another score of the firsts I heard. I guess it was in a trailer as well. Powerful piece, very "catchy", I would say. And Trademark of Brotherhood.

07. Lurking

Made my hands bury in the chair/bed/anything I'm sitting on while listening to this. Mysterious.

08. Mist

Calm. But kinda sad and dangerous.

09. Spiral of Truth

Jaws theme! Make my eyes go wide and search for a shark's fin XD

10. Mortal Sin

God, the part that starts at 0:23. Danger is coming, time to hide under a bed. o.o We also have chores here. One of my favorite pieces.

11. One is All, All is One

Melancholic, sad ballad. Reminds of the past.

12. Requiem for the Brigadier General

If some songs are sad, this is a real tear jerker. Make me lay with eyes closed and think of various things...

13. Uso (TV Size) (SID)

One of the best ending songs. Better than Let it out by visuals(d'aww that drawings), but losts by lyrics and voice of Fukuhara Miho.

14. Lullaby of Resembool

Symphonic version of Trisha's lullaby. I will describe it when I get to track no 21. I simply prefer the latter.

15. Interlude

A lighter score at least. Make me relax.

16. Hologram (Tv Size) (NICO Touches the Walls)

Catchy opening, meaningless lyrics. :f

17. Far East suite

Beautiful. Reminds me of old Disney's songs. Oriental.

18. Beneath the City

...somone is spying on me...wah.

19. Fifth Laboratory

Another favorite piece. Brilliant composition. I like the rising and descending notes. Make me all tense up.

20. Fanfare of the Brave

Another (in my opinion) Brotherhood's trademark song. Sharp strings, similiar to those in track no 01.

21. Trisha's lullaby

Here're the lyrics in Latin:

Dormite liberi,

Dulci pueri dormite, caloris et,

Commodus Vester lecti boni.

Osservo te, semper te,

Latus tui costa te, autem solus, mitite,

Latus tui hic sum.

In somninum plati

Floridus plena, dormite liberi

Dulci mei dormite

Mitite liberi,

Sine pater autem, mitite, liberi,

Visi te tua mater.

Osservo te, semper te,

Latus tui costa te, liberi sine sentite,

Momentum dormite.

In conclave sine mater.

Conclave dum dies saperis...

...someone know Latin? I tried to translate and it's simply a lullaby directed to Ed and Al, there is something about their father as well.

Anyway, this piece is magnificent. It's so melancholic, sentimental. As the title shows us, this is a lullaby, an escape from real, cruel world.

22. Concerto ~Brotherhood~

Hopeful. Tells us that "everything's not okay yet, there are still wounds to heal, but we're on right track".

23. Hum of the Streets

Rustle and bustle...Song didn't fit into my tastes.

24. Beyond the Walls

Another melancholic score. Somewhat, not really noticable, another (just) good piece. Gets a lot better at the beginning (kinda reminds me of Morrowind game...)

25. Next Chapter

Just don't like it. Too much is going on in this song.

26. Home ~en route to Resembool~

So optimistic, it makes me all happy and mushy inside. I rock to this song every time I hear it. Tam tam tam...

27. Lapis Philosophorum

Lapis philosophorum lapis ruber lapis quantus

sacrificium vis caputo felicitas

Debes sapio debes ibi multa miseria tua retro

calamitatis habes saputo felicitas

Ubi es inpedis terra e tem pus anteactus

sapies eo quam erant cadeveris infinitatis.

Debes sapio debes ibi multa miseria tua retro

calamitatis habes saputo felicitas

Ubi es inpedis terra e tem pus anteactus

sapies eo quam erant cadeveris infinitatis.

Specta mortuus specta si denuo desiderium

sapies habebis tueri sanguinem brachi pedis rubus,

Lapis philosophorum, lapis ruber affecto quam res...?

Wow...

This bgm is alike as Trisha's Lullaby, but at the same time it's very different. Sang in Pathos style (and Latin language only adds fuel to it - everything in Latin looks smart xD), but the melody gives the song sad vibre. I think it's my most favorite piece.

28.Happiness ~Requiem from "Blind Alchemist"~

Some frigging tear-jerking music Akira Senju gave us... I got the whole scale from little sad to fcking tear-jerks. This is around the end of it. The melody sounds like from a child's musical box. Which makes me baww few times more.

29. Home ~a house on the hill~

Italian-restaurant one? Cannot decide if I like it or not.

30. Overture ~Brotherhood~

Another FMA:B™... It's pretty. Would like to see song like that at the end of the story.

31. LET IT OUT (TV Size) (Fukuhara Miho)

When I heard it first time, it seemed very generic to me. Now I love it.

TOP 10:

1) Lapis Philosophorum
2) Trisha's lullaby
3) Happiness ~Requiem from "Blind Alchemist"~
4) again (TV Size) (YUI)
5) Mortal Sin
6) Fifth Laboratory
7) Laws of Alchemy
8) Main Theme ~The Fullmetal Alchemist~
9) Requiem for the Brigadier General
10) One is All, All is One

(It was so hard to decide...changed the order once)

Thanks for the links, Kasumisty! biggrin.gif

Very nice OST, although a few songs I've been looking forward to listening didn't make it into the OST.

Here are my most favorite tracks so far:

- Main theme~The Fullmetal Alchemist~
- Lapis Philosophorum
- Trisha's Lullaby
- One is All, All is One
- Concerto ~Brotherhood~
- Fanfare for the Brave

And may I ask when or in which episode was the track Far East Suite played? I can't remember hearing it during the show, yet it has a familiar feeling to it and it makes me feel warm and happy inside.

EDIT: Oh, never mind the question! I know when it was played now.
penguintruth
Here's my preference list, to add to my comments about the tracks:

1) Lapis Philosophorum
2) Trisha's Lullaby
3) Laws of Alchemy
4) Main Theme ~The Fullmetal Alchemist~
5) Lullaby of Risembool
6) Overture ~Brotherhood~
7) Concerto ~Brotherhood~
8) Clash of the Alchemists
9) One is All, All is One
10) Fanfare for the Brave
11) Requiem for hte Brigadier General
12) Lurking
Forsaken Love
havnt got time to listen to em all before bed XD but trisha's lullaby brought a tear to my eye, thats probably my fav ;__; i like lapis philosophorum too

edit:clash of the alchemists makes me think of fire emblem games and lurking beauty and the beast XD haha
kkg22104
Thanks for the lyrics, Kasumisty! I had a feeling they were in Latin. Maybe I could get my Latin teacher to translate the lyrics XD

I really like the OST, but I wish that they'd included more tracks, like the cute and fun one when Ed and Al play with Elysia, and the cool piece during episode 19 when Mustang fights Lust.

It's hard to pick my favorites, but these are the ones that stuck out to me (in no particular order):
-Clash of the Alchemists
-One is All, All is One
-Main theme
-Lapis Philosophorum
-Spiral of Truth
-Lullaby of Resembool

Overall, I like the opera-ish feeling of some of these tracks, the voices are really nice happy.gif

The soundtrack came out quicker than I thought it would. It will definately be on my to buy list. Hopefully on youtube or some other site I can listen to the songs before buying it.

Thanks for the links, Kasumisty!

I'll always like FMA 1's OST better, but Brotherhood's got some nice ones, too.

I really like Fanfare of the Brave for some reason, must be the strings. And Far East Suite is great too, but I can't remember which episode they played that in. Trisha's lullaby, Lapis Philosophorum, and the Main theme are all cool, too, with the Latin choirs and stuff. Wish I knew what the lyrics meant.

Hey, I like that one too. biggrin.gif There's a different version of that piece that is played out quite often in the show, for example in ep 1 during the time the Elrics brothers are intrduced to Hughes' family and they have dinner together.

The version in the OST sounds much better though, but I haven't found it in the show yet.
Kuura
@Kasumity: Thank you for all those links! You're my hero today! biggrin.gif

Well, there goes my current top 10 list:

1. Fanfare of The Brave
2. Clash of The Alchemists
3. Spiral of Truth
4. Morta Sin
5. Lapis Philosophorum
6. Lullaby of Resembool
7. One Is All, All Is One
8. Interlude
9. Next Chapter
10. Trisha's Lullaby

This OST seems pretty good. After all, the only thing I missed was the piece they played in episodes 19 and 26, if you know what I mean. However, I'll find it most likely in the OST 2, so no problem here.
thunderbreak
thanks kasumity !!!
i wish my soundtrack would come on sooner, but hearing this tracks are good.
i haven finish this, but i like lapis.of course i think roy v lust is missed out.also i'm not sure whether

i like lapis philosophorum and far east suite.
lapis has a grandeur feel inside(thanks for the lyrics too!!).i like it where the choral starts to sings(but the beginning is fine too ).i 'm glad to find roy vs scar part not missed, far east suite is very good ,in my opinion.it wrote just like chinese's western orchestral pieces, yet there's a oriental feel to it.akira senju must have more than western classical music in his mind smile.gif.

btw is there a flute piece?it's played during ed repairs the whole town.

It was also played in episode 4 when the brothers were playing with Nina and Alexander and in episode 9 when Winry noticed that Ed didn't drink his milk. I'll be surprised if it's not in the first soundtrack album!
shiroe
^^^
No, that piece is not included in the 1st OST. The album misses out quite a few songs that were used in earlier episodes, for example: the piece played when Ed and Pinako was digging up the transmuted 'thing' in ep 20, the piece at the end of ep 14 when Bradley met his wife and son, the one played in ep 4 when Ed first visited Tucker's house...

Looking forward to 2nd OST! happy.gif

I'm not as proficient in Latin as I should be, but I can try my best. I have problems with tenses - even in my native tongue. But I can give a quick summary of the two pieces.

Trisha's Lullaby seems to be [what you can say is Trisha's] advice on how Ed & Al should should live life without their parents. Lapis Philosophorum seems to be more or less exactly Hohenheim's POV on what he and the stone are.

If anyone is really interested, I can set some time aside to translate Lapis Philosophorum and Trisha's Lullaby.

Honestly? Finally! It's the first time when I can't wait for the new op because I can't stand the current one. Really, I don't know why after 33rd ep I already was wondering how many eps are left with this op...So~after a pass of information about Promised Day? or maybe earlier?

Wow...am I the only person who loves the 3rd OP? I'm kinda sad to see it go already as I really love the song (for me, it's way better than Again or Hologram (which I liked a lot too)).
Michiyo-
I read it on amber1003's journal that CHEMISTRY's single comes out on January 27, so the we'll see the new OP next month. I think they'll change it around episode 40.
I like the 3rd OP too, it's a really cathy song, but I'm looking forward to hearing the new one too.

^See, you're not ;P
It's not like I don't like it but well, for me it's the worst one among those three. As a song it's not bad but for me it's just average. I just can't feel this "something" that makes me like the song and listen to it all the time.
Hoh, yeah, probably 40 or 41.
Now I'm waiting for the newest Newtype issue with next episodes titles

I think the theme is a little weird - it's not much of a melody, and the singer sounds awfully nasal. I love the animation, though.
_Jelly
I've only heard about... err, 1 song from CHEMISTRY before but they sound quite hip-hop-ish and they have great voices. Definately better than the guy who sings the current OP. I'm one of those people who hate it as well. The least creative animation, bland song, everything is meh. But all the more reason to look forward to OP4 =P
penguintruth
The third OP has grown on me so much that it's now my favorite one, but I can't get into the third ED. The second ED is my favorite. LET IT ALLLL OUT, LET IT ALLLL OUUUUT...
