STRICT adherence to manga plz! The anime became something different in itself and that was great, but the manga was way better, and I want to see my beloved Xing hobos animated!! Plus all the glorious, full-color and animated EdWin *swoons* And Rose will have a personality

That applies to most of the characters actually. And most of them won't randomly die! And there will be no gaping plot holes!! And there will be CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT!!!!! *faints*

I would love it if they would make an adaptation of the manga... But I'm guessing that they'll probably make it a sequel of the whole animated series (no Xingese culture introduced and they'll be in our world). But since maybe it's title IS "fullmetal alchemist" they might do something that will bring them back to their world so they can do alchemy again

(and I really want them to animate Ling, Ran Fan, Fu and Mei-chan! I wonder who would be their voice actors in japanese and english...)

I really really hope they will use the manga for this anime-series. I would like everything to be exactly the same as in the manga. The beginning untill the end, same homunculi etc., same storylines. That way I'm almost 100% sure I will like this anime because I like the manga too
But I'm affraid that aint gonna happen because the manga isn't finished yet and the new anime-series will start in April I heard (correct me if I'm wrong).

Loose Adaptation of the manga w/ a mix of a follow on from the movie and something completely original. I don't want to read/watch the same thing twice. I just like Arakawa-san's thinking, I'd like to see what she comes up with.

Hey, so since no one else got around to it, I picked up this month's Animage down in Little Tokyo tonight and scanned the 3 pages on FMA (couldn't find anything in Newtype). It doesn't really look like there's much new info (I suspect it's the usual vague "new anime" announcement plus a 2-page retrospect on the first anime), but it can't hurt to check it out.
Anyone care to translate?

I think that the second series should continue on from the movie, because there is so much left unanswered. It would be good to see how Roy copes since episode 51/the movie. They would be able to carry on the dramatic feel even more with what still goes on with the characters on amestris such as Roy, Riza, Winry aswell as Edward and Al.

I am strongly FOR a follow on from the first FMA series and movie. Or at the very least, a follow on from the series and ignore the movie. Despite many people saying that the first series and movie gave it "complete closure" and that many characters are dead already, there still are so many challenges to face for Ed and Al. I want to see the brotherly love develop in their new world, and the challenges they face to get back to their old world, and reunite with their friends and rebuild their world. Sure, the bad people are gone, but there's always new ones coming along!
Close adaptation from the manga I would very very much dislike. It would basically be retelling the story again, and there would be so many similarities to series one. You can't really start off at episode 26 either, as new fans would have no clue what's going on.
I want to see a follow on from the first series, with even bigger emphasis on Ed and Al

The Fletcher brothers. Psiren. Barry's arrestation. Half of the 5th laboratory part. I can't count the HS in those first 26 episodes.
Plus, Tucker's death, Scar's introduction, the 5th laboratory, Rush Valey, all those are really different in the manga. You can start from the very beginning, the similiraties wouldn't be that big (especially if you put the flashback where it takes place in the manga).

Following the manga to strictly would be boring if the producers think they can bring something extra to the table.
Exactly. I'm voting for the story to follow from the movie's ending. I don't really have any great ideas other than it'd be cool to see them foil certain Nazi WWII plans/experiments while somehow creating a link back to their own world. Yeah, like I said no great or solid ideas. The story's ending just made me wonder about their role during the upcoming war. With the same creative team in place, I'm pretty confident it will be a great ride no matter what. The waiting will suck most of all.

Honestly...
I want the strict manga adaptation ñ.ñ
Why?
Look, loose of the manga uhhh I think ti will end like the serie... a complete disaster T.T
Now, something new well...Could be...But it is too much risk for Bones xD
Continue on from the movie nope! Because Ed its an adult now and Aru is 13 so he will be the new main character....no no no I want Alphonse second character, not the main one u.u no ofense! xD
Algo...the manga its so damn good!!! I want to see it animated o.o

Well pal, you see they say that this II season will be based on the manga soooo
if you have read it, you must know what will happen among the serie n.n
I dunno, probably they will change a little things because of the different paths that manga and anime have taken...but who cares?
I really want to see all the things that are going to happen with Ed and his friends!!
Envy, Lust, Gluttony oh yeah baby... Pride exists but doesn´t at the same time xD
So yeah, I absolutely keep my wish that Pride!Ed will appear in the serie X3
I don´t think so...but I can dream xD

i think that if it carries on from the movie then that would be good. i guess a scene between ed and winry would be a little awkward. after all, ed did leave straight for the other side of the gate and didn't say goodbye properly. so much to be answered. the name of ed and al's planet included. oh god i need to know this stuff. so bad.

i mean c'mon if they made a manga adaption then sure but it would have half the events that the 1st series already has. i personally would like to see lin and ran fan in animation.

well as for me i hope that they continue with the manga but put it in anime form. that would be cool. then maybe a the end do a little twist and show what happen to the charcters in like 1 or 2 years. that would be cool.

Honestly, I want a strictish adaptation of the manga. I just really want to see it in colour and moving! When I say ish I mean, you know in the first series when they had Hughes on the train but it wasn't like that in the manga? Well, I liked that so much more!
52 episodes isn't much. Unless they get an extra 52 there is no way they can fit the entire manga into a series though.
Who was it that Fullmetal Alchemist 2 could be changed to The Flame Alchemist? I'd go for that too!

i would like a follow on from the movie if thats posible, that would be some creative thinking. personally i have not read most of the on going manga series so i cant judge on a scale how bad or good it is.
but...... im very happy where the anime finished 50 or so episodes of pure genius, and i was impressed with the film. i didnt see any space for a film but they pulled it off.
just a bit pessimistic why they would start from scratch after the series was that good, and the film. looks like they want to make some more money to me. on going ever lasting filler fueled bull.....
i hope not but thats my take anyway

Pretty much exactly how I want it. I want it to strictly follow the 'main story' of the manga but with a couple of tie-ins and ideas from the anime.
Because lets face it: The Anime didn't suck completely. It was actually the anime that introduced me to and got me into FMA in the first place. It was only after watching about half of it that i started reading the manga, and when i did I found that I missed certain aspects of the anime, like the Ishbal-backstory and the wider range of charachter development.
Also, some original ideas that doesn't mess with the main storyline are warmly welcome. As long as they have the right Fma-feel to them of course.

All in all, what I hope for most, is a new animation style. Not that I hated the art before, but I'd like to see a new take on it. Not a dramatic change, like from Negima! to Negima!?'s art style, but something small like the change from Naruto to Naruto Shippuden's style.

Yup, same with me. I watched the ending, and I was fine with it. Then my brother told me the manga fans don't like anime. I asked why and he said he thought it was because of the parallel world stuff. Now I'm a fan of manga and I know it wasn't about the parallel world as much as the way characters turned out. Evanescence Ed, teenage hormones Al, suicidal depression Mustang, Penelope Winry, Holy Mother Rose and Hoho having kids with Yuki's bodyguard (what?)

I just finished reading the online manga.
The manga story is way better than the anime story.
I hope with season 2 they follow the manga, but it would be more logical if they keep using the storyline from FMA 1 and the movie.
But still, I hope they use the Manga. Would love to see General Armstrong and that Hoenheim look-alike

I want it to be based off the manga, but you know what I'm REALLY looking forward to? Fillers. I know it's weird, but I wanna see a little bit of stuff I haven't seen yet. Definitely keep it a strict adaptation of the manga (and if they have to add a few scenes to explain something that a single page of manga cannot, then so be it).
It will be nice to see the manga characters that were never explained in the anime.
