They're ALREADY showing some signs of anime-only action. This idiot "Isaac"? C'mon! Not already! I'm fine with him as long as they don't, like, have this guy, but not some of our fav manga-only characters. No need to list them. You know the ones I mean.

That "Isaac" idiot (why is he an idiot?) will most likely only be in the first couple of episodes or so, because I don't think they want begin the anime by using the same introduction into the story so, instead of using Cornello they're using him.
I'm sure that he's not gonna last past the first few episodes and then things will get back on track.
Just wait and see before you jump the gun.
I myself want to see the scenes from the manga animated and so far I've seen quite a few in the CM's they've been releasing. Have you seen them?

Why would all you guys want a replay of virtually the same story? I would MUCH rather want to see the continuance to the first series!

And if it's a remake, why are people calling it "Season 2"? It's a whole new series...

Have you not noticed the clear differences between the first anime and manga? How can it possibly be the same story?
It deviated and went in a completely new direction in the first anime because there were only 4 volumes for the manga at the time.
I take it you haven't read the manga before making this assumption.
And a continuation, you said? That's impossible, seeing how it came to a close without the slightest chances of making a
comeback using the same story. Just watch the OVA's if you already haven't and you'll see what I mean.
But, you are right by saying that it's a whole new series.

Um, and if I misunderstood what you meant, I'm sorry in advance.

I assume the OVA you're talking about is the "Kids" OVA. But just because they show an old edward elric doesn't mean they couldn't continue the story of what happens after the movie up until that point. That's a huge gap! Chances are, Ed would find a way back home and marry Winry.

As for the manga, I only own volumes 1 2 and 4, and that's all I've read.

Let the old anime go and go into this new series with an open mind.
The manga is great and I can't see why one wouldn't want to see so many awesome scenes nicely animated.
Tombow
^ Second that. ^^ Let me say the same thing in few more words... XD

@Greensky - Aha, that explains some of your confusion. ^^
I'm a big fan of FMA anime (series-1,) but the story on FMA series-1 was very different from FMA managa story. And, IMO, the author of FMA manga, Hiromu Arakawa is a wonderful story-teller, and I love FMA manga story (remind you again that latter half of the FMA anime series-1, especially towards the end of the series, and the last FMA movie, had almost COMPLETELY different story-line from original FMA-manga story.)
And, I for one, can't wait to see the manga FMA story coming alive in anime format. biggrin.gif
I have a feeling that once you see it you're going to like it also. ^^

...Just for your info, FMA manga is still going, Vol. 22 is coming out in Japan on April 11, although, the manga FMA story is just about nearing to the final climax... ^^ and, as I keep mentioning, it has a VASTLY different storyline from FMA anime (series-1.) You can read about some of the FMA manga-anime differences on FMA anime-manga differences thread. smile.gif

I'm pretty sure WInry would be dead by then.

I really want it to follow the manga, sorry I'm kinda not following lol!! I cant wait to see some things animated!! I was hoping it was going to be another really long series..... is it really only going to be 52 episodes?? I was kinda hoping for them to re-animate the first half..... I wouldnt mind seeing the little changes they made being like how it is in the original manga. But, its hagaren. No matter what they do I'm still going to love it. Please dont change too many english voice actors!! I'm pretty happy about the Japanese ones!! lol XP
Kasumisty
The new anime will be based entirelly on manga (well, the first, or two first episodes will be fillers) and there will be more than 52 episodes. They changed quite a lot of cast, but personally, the new voices fit as well.

Ohh yesss!! lol!! Im glad it'll be longer. It seems they kept a lot of the Japanese cast but just switched around the parts... now I didnt watch the whole series in Japanese, but from hearing the song files, I kinda thought Toru Okawa's voice was a bit too deep for Mustang. I kinda like the newer va better, from what I've heard in the trailers he was in..... and I totally agree with your sig!! Lol i cant wait to see the part with Ed and the digging.... it was in.... volume 10?? I think so lol

Learn what "filler" means. The new content isn't filler it's just new.

Thank you - I'm glad somebody finally out and said it. Honestly, the complaints over the new opening of the series make zero sense to me - it would be marketing suicide to begin a new anime with a rehash. The new opener doesn't necessarily have to replace Cornello; in fact, an episode in Liore is almost mandatory to a manga-centric plotline due to the events which unfold there in later chapters. But I fail to understand how introducing beloved characters in an interesting new context is filler.

When I think filler, I think: Inyuyasha episode 370 - search for the roommate's hidden demon underwear, NOT the brand new and beautifully animated opener of fullmetal alchemist.

I agree with your definition of filler. Though there's a lot of excitement and joy over the new anime, there's also a lot of people complaining and predicting the worst outcome. I personally am very optimistic, and I think the animation looks great so far and that Isaac seems like a decent character. BONES knows that there are extremely high exceptions for the new series that they have to meet (if they want to make as much money as possible, that is) so I really don't think they're going to screw it up. Not this early in the series, at least. I imagine that they put a lot of thought into how they're going to handle the first few episodes, since those are the episodes that drag viewers in.

Well, all we can really do is hope for the very best.

For me fillers are oryginal episodes, with story not included in base the adaptation is made of. And no, I'm not complaining about anything wink.gif

My apologies, I didn't mean to insinuate that you were complaining. My comments were more directed at (some) of the fandom as a whole, not anyone in particular.
zonkiethegreat
I would like a Loose adaptation of the Manga. They have to, otherwise it will be too redundant.

I just can't wait to see Olivia Armstrong!
