Thanks very much for the scans, AA Battery! I was surprised at some of the images. Others, not so much. Olivier freaking out... something I never thought I'd see. But Ed getting his coat didn't surprise me once I thought about it.

Many thanks, AA Battery!!!

Anyone... my stupid decoding program can't read file names in Japanese and hence can't unpack the downloaded package. T.T
While I'm doing translation, if someone can make DL package with files with English names, that will be much appreciated!1 (I can use "page by page" for translation, meantime...)

Translation is in progress on this page (page 1 of this thread) ^^
(My connection was bad and couldn't do it last night..sorry!! ^^)

Note: Finally got volume 19, Armstrong's first name is indeed Olivier. I always thought that was wrong because it's a boy's name, but I always go by the pre-volume romanizations, and that's what I'll use from now on.

Page 0: Maybe later. Much, much later.

Page 1:
Side: First destruction, then rebirth.
SFX: Bang bang bang

Armstrong: You're still not done?
Worker: Oh,
Hello, ma'am.

The interior work will be done today or tomorrow,
and it'll be back to its old, fancy self.

Might I ask what exactly happened that the place was so wrecked?
Armstrong: Just a little argument with my brother.

SFX: Bang bang bang bang

Page 2:
Neighbors: I hear she forced her parents out.
She's never gotten along with the rest of the family.
SFX: Bang bang

Neighbors: But now that whole mansion just an empty box.
She may have taken over the estate, but she's got no one to share it with.

SFX: knock knock

SFX: knock

Page 3:
Mustang: Greetings, Major General Sir.

Armstrong: hmph.
I've got no tea or chairs for the likes of you.

Mustang: Then I suppose I'm out of luck with food, as well.
Armstrong: Yeah, we're too busy repairing the place.
SFX: Bang bong bang bong

Mustang: The Armstrong Family's wealth never ceases to amaze.
"Large" doesn't even begin to describe the mansion.

In fact...
I think you could fit a company...maybe even a full battalion in here.

SFX: Bang bong bang bong

Page 4:
Armstrong: If anything happens to me, you can have it.
SFX: Bang bong bong

Armstrong: Coffins aren't allowed on inside, after all.
SFX: Wham wham wham
Mustang: You aren't leaving it to your brother?

Armstrong: Between the two of you, I'd say you're the better choice...by a hair.
Mustang: I'm honored to have even a hair's breadth of your trust, Major General.

Mustang: Oh,
here's a gift, to celebrate your inheriting the family estate.

I believe I told you last time that we have excellent florists here in Central, right?
Armstrong: Mmhmm, you certainly did.

Page 5:
Armstrong: Hyacinths?

SFX: rustle
Armstrong: Selim Bradley is Homunculus...

Mustang: Do you know what the word "hyacinth" means?

"Feminine Grace and Beauty."

Armstrong: I DON'T NEED YOUR STINKIN' FLOWERS!
SFX: Chuck, FWOOOOSH

Mustang: HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Bradley: These exercises are going far too smoothly...
What are you plotting, Grumman?

Grumman: I can't take this any more.
Let's just aim all the cannons at Bradley's tower and be done with it, eh?
Miles: Please stop saying that, sir.

Page 10:
Soldier: Major.

We've been unable to locate Alphonse Elric.
Miles: What?

Soldier: Do you think Bradley's side got him, sir?
Miles: I wouldn't expect him to go down without a fight...
Keep searching for him
Soldier: Sir.

Guy: You Excellency.

Major General Hakuro is here to see you.

Page 11:
Hakuro: Excellency, I've news on Lieutenant General Grumman's activities.
Bradley: Oh?

Is he planning to use the eastern forces to stage a coup d'état?
If so, I've already planned for that.
Hakuro: No, sir!

This whole joint north/east training is a diversion!

Your coming east coincides with a number of planned Ishvalan terrorist attacks on Central!

...but, those are diversions as well.
Colonel Mustang is secretly working with the terrorists, and plans to use the resulting confusion to seize power!

Page 12:
Bradley: Tell me what we've got on him.
Soldier: Yes, sir.

General Hakuro has frequently clashed with General Grumman since he was assigned to the Eastern Headquarters,
and has never approved of Colonel Mustang's speedy rise through the ranks.
There are many people who will testify to that.

Bradley: What of Central?
soldieR: Actually, it's just as he said.

We've got multiple reports of Ishvalan refugees entering areas surrounding Central.

Page 13:
Grumman: Hwaaaah...

Bradley: I'm going back.
Take care of things here.

Other guy: Aye aye!

Man, this takes me back.
We ain't been part of a plan like this since Ishval, no?

I hope Colonel Mustang's battle prowess ain't been dulled by all the city livin'.
This ain't gonna be an extermination, like last time.
The Colonel can't just start throwin' flames around the middle of downtown.
SFX: March march march match

Guys: Well, hopefully we won't even be a situation where the military gets involved.
Yeah, good call.

How can this be happening...
SFX: Rabble rabble rabble

Yes-men: We need a replacement as soon as possible...
No one here could hold a candle to King Bradley!
We don't even know if he's really dead!
But-
What has the investigation turned up?!

Armstrong: Nothing but a bunch of mindless chickens, motivated purely by personal gain.
Now the head's been cut off, and they're left running around aimlessly.

The Fuherer's gone.
Selim's gone.
They're all confused and scared...this room might as well be empty.

This could be my chance...

Greed: Nah, I'm his new boss.

Hohenheim: Well, thank you for taking care of my son.
Greed: A loudmouthed, snotty brat like him? He's no trouble at all.
Ed: SHAAAAADAP!

Page 27:
Hohenheim: What an interesting tattoo.

It's our own fault we ended up like this - we could never use them!

Hohenheim: ...I'm glad to hear you say that, son.

Page 30:
Hohenheim: Will you help me stop his ambitions?
Ed: Help YOU?

Let's get things straight.
I'm gonna stop him with or WITHOUT you.

But right now, we stand a better chance with you on our side. That's the only reason I came here!

Hohenheim: Well,
regardless of your motives, for now, we fight together.

That's enough talk for one night.
Let's get some food and rest up.
Ed: Huh?
S-sure...

Page 31:
Ed: Oh yeah!

Hey!
I just remembered, Grandma Pinako told me to tell you mom's last words.

Heinkel: I guess there was a lot going on, but he doesn't seem like the type to just abandon his wife.

Darius: Yeah, must've been a lot.
Huh?
Tell us, we'll listen.

Ed: It's a badass tough-guy color! Gets the blood boiling!

Page 36:
Ed: This next battle against them could be my last.
I need to stay motivated.

Hey guys, you don't really have any reason to come with us, right?

I was thinking you'd be better off if we split up here.
Greed: Excuse me, all THREE of you work for ME. I'm the decider here.

Ed: Do you wanna get your old bodies back like those other chimeras?
Heinkel: Not sure, really.

Being a chimera comes in handy.
Darius: Yeah, we don't really care.
Greed: Ghahaha! That's the spirit!

Page 37:
Heinkel: We've got nowhere to go.
Darius: Maybe it's like animal instinct.
I think we'll be better off in the long run if we stick with you guys.

Ed: What about you, Greed? Why're you going with us?
Weren't you running AWAY from the other Homunculus?

Thank you so much for the translations Tombow and HisshouBuraiKen!!! This chapter is absolutely excellent! Did anybody feel sorry for poor Papa Hoho there? D'= And Ed...jeeze ._. can't he use a bit more tact when it comes to his father? Just because he doesn't cry, doesn't mean other men can't. xD

Anyway, ZOMG AL! Whyyyyyyy does Arakawa leave us with a cliffhanger almost every single month! WHYYYYY!!!! *splodes*
Gukumatz
LOL @ HisshouBuraiKen for using a Bushism in the translation ("I'm the decider"). That made me giggle. Thanks for the translation! You, too, Tombow! I hope your internet connection doesn't give you too much trouble. And thank you, all the RAW providers.

Hey - did people notice that on page 37, in the middle panels, it looks like Greed might have been slipping into Ling momentarily? (Look at the hair.) Also maybe p. 28 (we see Ling's eye). And p. 26, when Greedling first talks to Hohopapa?

No, the only time Ling shifted place with Greed was when he noticed that it was not Alphonse who were talking (page 41) - remember that Ling could distinguish Envy even though he tried many disguises (chapter 38). The way Arakawa uses to distinguish both is the use of katakana by the end of Ling's speech.

Oh it was already told at the summary... u.u
You shouldn't read those things, they take away all the surprises and fun.

Yeah, two weeks before I wasn't really concerned about being spoiled, even if I tried not to spoil others. Since then, I was spoiled the 13th episode of Code Geass R2 two weeks before it aired and I have been completely "vaccinated". No spoilers for me, and I'm now especially cautious about spoilers I give myself!

Guess that's what they call a "Shock Therapy", hohohoho. tongue.gif

I'm a weird case. I'm a very spoiler-liking person, when it's sth I don't follow, or am a little curious about, for example, a game I like but that I won't be playing anytime soon, or an anime I probably won't be watching. In these cases I have no problem spoiling myself to fill my curiosity. An example would be precisely Code Geass' Euphemia's scene. If you've seen it, guess you know which one. wink.gif

But if it's sth I'm following or certainly have the intention to read/play/watch... then spoilers zero, dun want even the slightest hint. ň_ó
happy.gif;
(for example, with this one it was impossible not to get spoiled... but I think The 6th Sense would have been even much more shocking if we hadn't known that the kid sees dead people's ghosts. I mean, he doesn't say it until about half the movie!! Damn trailers)

But I digress a lot, uh...
Gonna stop using the tags, since it's all out now.

Spoilers chapter 85 :

QUOTE
That'd give the chapter title a double meaning... Not only Amestris without either of the Bradleys is an "empty box", but Al's armor is too (even if currently is full of Pride, hahaha

I'm not the only one that thinks that Bradley won't disappear that way, I hope? I mean, for the weak, hot-blooded and mostly ineffective Envy, the fact that he was defeated so quickly is understandable. But Wrath? The foe that nobody has actually succeed to simply touch? Don't think so!

Quite obviously good ol' Wrath isn't going to go that easily... He'll be back no doubt.

But it would be a real shocker, a real "joke's on the reader", if Arakawa had really killed him. Hey, real life does have unexpected plan-breaking accidents and sudden deaths (and country leaders murder plots too happy.gif; ), deaths aren't always "climatic".

QUOTE(jacksparrow589 @ Jul 13 2008, 02:34 AM) *
GAH! Al! NO! Sensenic- I hope your theory is right! I really want Al back! But wouldn't that mean opening the Gate, too? How do we propose this happens without loss? Do we even propose that at all? With the way things have been going, I am seeing some huge sacrifice to get Al back. This is one of those times I hate equivalent exchange.

I guess nothing was needed to open the Doors to put Al back in because he's just returning to where he belongs in the first place. The armor just rejected him and his body would have "pulled the proverbial string".
Of course to get him back out, they'll have to open the Doors... but that much I think we've always known it has to happen in the end, sooner or later.
What will the toll be? Figures... ph34r.gif

Then again, maybe not, this just a theory, maybe Al's soul's still in the armor, but just not in control of it.

HisshouBuraiKen- Nice translation! Reading it with the pictures makes even more sense!

On that note, I made some sort of comment about Olivier and Father earlier. NOW I get it-- she's freaking out because he's there, which could potentially be... very bad, to say the least.

Now, that makes me wonder if Bradley really did bite the dust was possibly absorbed by Father (along with all the people in the car) as an energy source for the coming battle, or something like that. A last-minute hostage situation or something, maybe? You know, "You can either make so-and-so a homunculus or watch them die." I don't think that would happen (or if it was offered, the offer wouldn't be taken up), but you never know. What would happen if that was the trade to bring Al back? I'm getting myself all worked up over this now! I wanna know how it ends!

About Bradley potentially dying: Wasn't there something that said how all the sins were supposed to die, though? I remember seeing something like that... over a year ago. Wow. Does anyone else remember what I'm talking about? Like how it said Lust was supposed to die in flames or something? Anybody? I'd really like to know how that is supposed to work.

EDIT (Didn't feel like putting this in it's own post.): Thank you, Causmicfire and Gukumatz for the references! The curiousity is no longer killing me!
Causmicfire
Wow great chapter. I wonder why Bradley would overlook leaving Riza iwthout someone to keep an eye on her, kind of defeats the whole pupose of taking her as a hostage of sorts in the first place.

At first I thought Hakuro was in on it, but I guess not.

Thanks for the translations Tombow and HisshouBuraiKen!

@J.S. Deadly Sins and their punishments...I think they also have the virtues on the site somewhere. Yeah, Wrath is supposed to be dismembered alive, which is why I keep waiting for a sword fight between Bradley and Olivier, though ever since the chapter where Greed turned and fought with Bradley, I've been thinking he may be the one to fight with himin the end.

Is that so! Whoa, thanks! I've been trying to learn to recognize kana from the raws (and maybe recognize short and common words and exclamations that I've learned to recognize from anime-watching). I noticed shifts between hiragana and katakana throughout people's speeches, but usually they were mixed up and so I didn't think anything of it.

Greedling uses katakana at the end of his first speech bubble on p.26, when he says "boss." Is that just because it's a word borrowed from English? His other speech bubbles in p.26 end in hiragana.

...And, just a quick browse of his other speech bubbles... oh yeah, they all end in hiragana.

...And taking a look at ch. 84 and 83 raws. OH MY GOODNESS, YOU'RE RIGHT. Especially ch. 83, where Ling and Greed switch around a lot. Whoa, Ling's speech bubbles all end in katakana, and Greed's in hiragana.

I'll be paying attention to this in future chapters. It's cool.

CausmicFire posted a site. Here's another:
http://velcro-soul.awardspace.com/research...earchindex.html

Wrath's punishment is being dismembered alive. Maybe being exploded is similar?

I don't think he's dead either, though. We're probably going to see him swimming out of the water with weeds in his hair, looking furious in ch. 86. Maybe later. Arakawa might make us wait. I'll probably happen, though (an angry!Wrath close up). I can imagine it now.

Roy and Oliver= ttly boning, Y/Y?
RoyxRizaFan
WOW good chapter!

OMG Hoho...that was so touching. Him and Ed crack me up, too XD

Poor Al, though...I wonder if everyone's theories about his soul already being gone are correct. I guess now we know that Pride can immitate voices perfectly or something LOL

Bradley's definitely not dead. I've been anticipating a fight between either him and GreedLing or him and Olivia for a while. I think it's more likely that GreedLing will try if Ling's in charge since Greed already did and failed...but Arakawa always prooves me wrong.

Olivia and Roy bug me when they're together.
Little Fixster
wow this chapter is...wow...

um...

I am reminded once again why I love this manga.

EDIT:
btw, when did ed loose his coat in the first place? Did he ditch it so it would be harder for others to find him?

I really hope Ed's soul hasn't been disconnected from his armour, but then again, it's not really where his soul belongs. I just worry that if his soul isn't attached to something in the FMA world that that would mean he would just be dead. Maybe I assumed too much there...
But I was thinking it was one of those instances like in chapter 26 pg 38, where just the armour is being controlled, like Pride is possessing the armour if that makes sense...

The fuhrer couldn't possibly be dead. I would be extremely surprised if their assassination attempt actually worked.
I'm rooting for a fuhrer-greedling fight. I love swordfights...

And Ed really should TRY to show a little forgiveness to his dad...

I think it's time for me to expand my fma collection at home. I think I have three volumes right now. Might even just be two. Hey, I only work during the summer and gas is expensive...
Becca-chan
I'm just going to end up repeating what quite a few people have already said concerning the youngest Elric brother in this chapter but.....Noooooo Alphonse! ;_;

Seriously, that was one heck of a shock at the ending right there. O.o ( you should of heard my reaction the day I read it, it's amazing how many no's a person can fit into their sentence when freaked out enough ^^; )

But with any luck, Al's soul might not of been in the armour when Pride took over and if he was, darn...brotherly love is going to have to kick in big-time if Al is to regain control of his own armour again.

It's nice to see Breda and Fuery back in Central too...Fuery looks a little worse for wear though, although given where he *was* I think that's understandable.

Looking at the whole scene with Olivier and Roy...erm...yeah, although I personally think Roy's finding the whole rejection thing from Olivier completely hilarious. XD

I kind of hope Wrath ( I still have problems calling Bradley that ^^;; ) isn't dead either, surely he's to have a much bigger purpose rather than getting blown up by a train.

And I felt so sorry for Hohenheim when he broke down into tears like that, why can't Edward see that his father did love his mother?
I also agree with the chimera's on this one! I think a certain teenager needs some compassion lessons towards his father. ¬.¬

Anyway, this was an excellent chapter...things really look like they're picking up now. ^^

And also, thank you so much to paca, Aizen and AA Battery for the RAWs, Tombow and HisshouBuraiKen for the transalations and CodenameElizabeth for links to the scanlations too!

It's cool.

Not only Ling, but also May Chang, Ran Fan and Fu (all foreign people) finish their speech with a single katakana. In this specifically case that you mentioned, I just figured out that it was not Ling bc of all the other sentences displaying hiragana at the end of them and, just like you said, because "boss" is a word borrowed from English happy.gif
Seems that Arakawa planned it all along to help the readers make out who is in charge of Ling's body.

Not quite, it's rather a trick to accentuate their foreign accent, that they're speaking a language that's not their own. When they do speak in Xingese, the sentences are written horizontally (or different font, in some scanlators' cases) and they're normal, don't have any katakana in the end whatsoever.

And I've seen this trick somewhere else (I remember because I thought "hey, like Ling!" XD ), but not where happy.gif;
I believe it's a rather common practice, not Arakawa's own idea... But I can't tell for sure.

Not quite? Hmm where did I say otherwise in my reply? In fact, I implied it ('foreign ppl') - I thought anyone could notice that is because of their accent.

I just said that she PLANNED it all along, meaning that she thought of transforming one of the Xingese ppl - who were looking for immortality - into a homunculus: bc of their accent - the use of katakana by the end of their sentences - it would help differing who is in charge. Sorry if I did not make myself clear enough before.

Thanks Dhazard06 and Sensenic. I don't know anything, so all the things you point out to me are really useful.

I thought I remembered shadow!Pride using katakana in the cave under Briggs, so I went to look (ch.68), but I didn't see any. I could have sworn that I saw Pride's sound effects (zuzuzuzu, zozozozo, etc.) in katakana at one point. I thought Arakawa had done it on purpose to make Pride more menacing, but now I think I was mistaken.

Oh, ok, I thought you meant that she had made up this gimmick and given it to them purposefully for the future easy telling on who's the one talking.
Sorry for correcting you when there was no need. happy.gif;

And now that you say it... Yes it could be, that she decided to make them foreigners with that idea in mind... I don't think so, but of course at this point it's all pure especulation and we can't know for sure.
I do agree, though, in that it's pretty clear she intended for Ling to become Greed from the beginning, yes.
Saving_Grace
Wow, I nearly cried at the Hoho-Trisha thing, and I never cry at manga. T'was very sad, (sigh) I'm a sissy... Bet you any money Wrath is still alive. He's gonna pop up sooner or later with his [All hail lord Xenu] half blown up, ready to slice up someone.

I Loved the Roy/Olivia stuff, and I'm glad Fuery and Breda are back (I missed them!).

Hey... Why did [All hail lord Xenu] come up when I wrote a-s-s? Come on! As if I can't say that!
APalchemist5
Saving Grace, you were not alone. I think the panels of Hohenheim crying had more detail and were better drawn than any other panel in the chapter, it created a huge affect. Also just his reasoning, it wasn't corny to me, it was something I could see a old guy saying.

I didn't cry, but I dont know if i will be able to hold back if (or when) Ed finds an empty suit of armor when pride leaves al....

Also, I am lost concerning the two different tenses everyone is talking about....

Could someone summarize what the difference between the two tenses are?

Thanks.

ps. olivia you stay away from roy, he is taken.
Celeste Nayamashii
Yes, Arakawa was amazing in pulling off Hohenhiem's emotions in those panels. My god...if she does that with Ed, I don't think I'll be able to hold back either...I didn't cry with Hoho, but the emotion sure grabs at you. If that happens with Ed...oh god I don't know how I'd react. It was hard enough seeing him like that in the anime, but in the manga and the way she pulls off emotion? Yeeeah.

Hi APalchemist5! We were talking about the Japanese writing systems hiragana and katakana, not tenses. The kana (kana = general name for hiragana + katakana) are kind of like our alphabet in that they represent sounds. Instead of breaking up consonants and vowels, though, kana represent syllable sounds (e.g. の = no, そ = so, く = ku). Hiragana are used for Japanese words and katakana are used for foreign words/names/countries.

What Dhazard06 and Sensenic were explaining to me is that the Xing characters end their speech bubbles with a katakana symbol. It's a way of distinguishing when Greedling is talking with a foreign accent, and lets us know the difference between Greed and Ling. All the homunculi end their speech bubbles with hiragana (so I guess they sound Amestrian).

Before that, I thought that the way that Arakawa was distinguishing them was with their hair. That's the only difference you can see in the scanlations. To see the implied difference in accent, you have to look at the raw.

Here's photos pointing out what we're looking at for Greed, and for Ling.

If anyone wants a printable pdf file for learning the kana, here's the one I'm using.

This katakana/hiragana discovery is really great. I was just looking at the raw for fun. It's not like I can actually read much more than simple things like hahahaha, fufufufufu, hai, arigato, etc. Now I'm going to pay more attention. Late new year's resolution: Learn to read kana by December. At least 50% of kana. Let's see how far I get. smile.gif
APalchemist5
Gukumatz, that was the greatest explaination ever.

Thank you so much (i had to read it three times, just to make sure i understood it)
I can read hebrew, but only the ancient script, not modern, and it is soo old that it isn't as intricate as japanese.
Japanese really is very cool, sorry to bother.

Chiyo
That was quite a helpful bit of explanation there, so thanks for that.

Al with "eyes" is a really scary look. I know really he should be scary anyway being a moving suit of hollow armour and all but all they needed were those eyes to completely change his look.
HisshouBuraiKen
Gukumatz - By DECEMBER? You could learn katakana in a month if you really work at it. Write each one down 50 times while you say the sound out loud biggrin.gif

On the hiragana/katakana thing -

It's been explained pretty well, but to put it succinctly:

Hiragana and katakana are two "alphabets" for the same set of sounds. There is both a hiragana and katakana for every syllable used in japanese - katakana are used for foreign loanwords, SFX, and for general emphasis (it just jumps out more to a japanese reader).

The last syllable in a Xingese character's sentence is written in katakana to demonstrate that they're speaking with an accent, or (as has been said), in a language not native to them. You do have to look at the raw to see this, as there's really no good way to make an "accent" come across without being really annoying, e.g. having Lin speak like, "Edo, I amu hungury."

The presence of hiragana at the end doesn't necessarily imply they sound Amestrisian, but that they're speaking their native language or without an accent. Remember Zangief, our exploded Drachman pal? His speech text was identical to Kimblee's.

Most characters have unique speech patterns, but they usually based more off politeness, grammar and vocabulary than accent. It's how, when there are no visible characters, you can tell if it's Ed, Al, or Al getting pissed and slipping into Ed-like speech (I LOVE it when that happens XD )

I guess that wasn't so succinct, but whatev!
qaghou
Do you think that it will be the same style of end that it was in the anime ?

FMA is almost in the end... Hope that it will be a better end than the anime/movie.
The letter for Pinako from Ed isn't a good new... Ed is afraid to betray is promised to Winry to return safely...
Dude ! I hope we will not be disapointed by the end ! sleep.gif
Saving_Grace
What letter for Pinako? I don't remember a letter... Did I miss something?
Gukumatz
You're welcome, APalchemist5 and Chiyo. I'm glad it was helpful.

Ack, you're right! That is a long time. I was thinking of taking it slowly since I'm working full time during the summer and I'm usually tired in the evenings. When fall starts, I'll be working part-time and studying full-time.

But hmm, maybe if I just take some time during the day. I bet I'd learn faster if I took the kana in groups. There's several that I recognize already, so it's not like I'd be learning completely from scratch. Thanks for the push, HisshouBuraiKen! laugh.gif

I don't remember one either. The only time Pinako is mentioned in this chapter is when Ed is passing on his mother's message to Hohenheim. huh.gif

I heard somewhere that Ed had given a letter to Pinako between chap. 84 and 85... If I'm not right please...Can you correct me with the truth ?

How did the US editor of FMA worked on that difference in speeches? Here in France, the words' "police" is different when they speak among themselves (in Xingese) and they have grammar problems when they speak in what is supposed to be the Amestrian language...
jacksparrow589
Sannom- Apparently they speak Amestrian pretty fluently because Ling pretends not to know the language only once and says "I no speak this country language," or something like that as a result. Other than that, the grammar of Xingese characters speaking Amestrian is pretty good. I don't think I've seen much of any speech that indicates an accent on their part. I wondered about it at first, but it makes reading it a little easier (albeit less funny), so I'm not going to complain.

Yeah, in the french translation, Lin, Ran Fan and May speak like that almost all the time, foreign people not completely accustomed to the language, who understand it perfectly but make grammar mistakes that hurts the ears but are still perfectly understandable, especially from people from a foreign country. It must be a choice from the french editor I suppose, who must have assumed that teenagers who never came in that country before should have some trouble with the language (I didn't understand english at all when I was May's age laugh.gif ).
