Soo...

The Democratic primaries just ended last night (June 3) and Barack Obama is the party's presumptive nominee--like how John McCain is the presumptive nominee for the Republican party. However, there's still the Democratic National Convention in late August and the Republican National Convention in early September before Obama and McCain's respective nominations are official.

As for Hillary Clinton, she has expressed interest in being Obama's vice president, but who knows what'll happen in the next two months? News people say that Obama and Clinton will meet in the next week, and when that happens, there will be an Announcement.

Back to last night, though: the three candidates each made speeches. Links below (Warning: Each speech is ~20-35 min. long):

McCain's Speech from Kenner, LA*
Part 1
Part 2
Part 3
Part 4

*Re-linked because the other video ended at CNN's cut to Hillary coverage when McCain's speech still had 15 minutes to go. I'll re-link again if I can find an uninterrupted version.

Hillary's Speech from New York City, NY

Obama's Speech from St. Paul, MN

Thoughts? Comments? Endorsements?

[Edited to fix McCain video links]

Too young to vote, bleurgh =( At least I can vote in the next election.

Obama all the way for me, he's not a perfect candidate (then again, who is) but I'd much rather have him than McCain.

Hillary Clinton's concession(?)/campaign suspension(?)/Obama endorsement(?) speech in ~50 minutes (12 PM EST). Let's see what happens. o.o

Endorsement! Yes We Can!

LOL. Mr. "Economics aren't my strong suit" McCain is using the old "He'll Raise Yer TYEEEEXES!" line of attack... nevermind the fact that he supports continuing a war that's already cost every single American $17,500

you think Obama had it easy during the primary season... he's gonna be hittin' layups all the way to November against this guy.

So, i herd Obama iz teh anti-christ?

In case anyone's wondering, this site has polling data on Obama v. McCain, tracked nationally. It's updated every few days.

Obama v. McCain: Setting the Tone…..obama is right for change...i believe that he will lead this country in the right path instead of just what he wants to do.i believe that he listens to the people an goes off of what we need vs. what we want.i believe we are headed toward the depression AGAIN and if I'm correct Barack Obama will not only get us out but lead us far away from ever getting in contact with it again.

You know, even though some other Republican might stand a better chance against Obama, I'd probably be relieved if McCain were out of the picture. Seriously, that old coot is scary.

Which should be easy for him.

FYI: It's the last day of the DNC and Obama will give his acceptance speech tonight. This should be fun. :D

PAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

McCain picked Palin? Seriously? She's probably the worst choice I could have thought of. That's such a feeble and see through attempt to get the women's vote after Hillary lost (though depressingly people will fall for it). She has as little experience as Obama, so he can't throw that at him anymore, she didn't even know what McCain's stance on the war was (which is just sad), and she's going to get KILLED when she debates Biden. McCain just lost the election as far as I'm concerned.

Biden was a great choice for Obama, his foreign policies are strong and he has loads of experience, and those were Obama's two weak points, and, as I hinted previously, an incredibly strong debater.

Palin certainly is a WTF choice. (I can't help throwing up a little whenever I read articles that say McCain 'tapped' her [to be his VP -- but by that time I'm struggling to keep the image far, far away]. But at the same time, she's considered a good pick for McCain. She's very solidly pro-life/gun (ironic, when you see 'life' and 'gun' together like that), though, which brings in that super-conservative bloc that might worry that McCain's too 'maverick-y'...or at least that he's not passionate enough about guns and the pro-life position. (But seriously, those folks wouldn't vote for Obama, anyway.)

I really doubt he picked her merely for her gender. There are other, more qualified female Republicans that he could've picked. I doubt any of them would've stirred up as much attention as Palin has, though, if only for the WTF factor. o.o

Thanks for the links, asu!

Too bad the candidates didn't agree to an actual debate--now that would've been fun (but only if the VP candidates *cough*Palin*cough* debate as well). Guess we'll never know what else McCain is "aware" of.

(I spent half an hour (on and off) reading the comments. It was torturous. I expected that, but I still did it anyway. I must hate myself. mellow.gif )

Meet the Press w/ Colin Powell: video | transcript

Thank you, Mr. Powell, for expressing so clearly what I've been feeling for weeks.
Carnal Malefactor
Nice to be on the winning side, for once.

Close this topic or leave it open for posterity?
Dearheart
Sorry if I'm putting a damper on things, but I have a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach that another 9/11 is around the corner. I won't be surprised if (or when) it does come.

God help us. Barack's a charismatic guy, but is he really all he's cracked up to be? I don't know...I just don't know...

*shuts up before Obama-crazed fans chase after her with torches and pitchforks, lol...*
