LOL Oh my GOD Ed, what are you wearing!? Winry's gonna kill him if he's wearing her clothes xD Though he's got a great looking...yeah. Anyway, thanks for this Edamane! I can't wait for the new chapter!

Chapter 82: "Soul Family"?? It feels like "traditional" Arakawa style FMA managa chapter title is back, unlike the last one... XD It invokes the image of souls we saw in Envy, Hohenheim... Are they considered as family? Or, is this about Father and his "children"?? Does that mean we will see scenes in the Central in this chapter?? And, that reminds me.. by any chance, are we going to see some Greed and Bido reunion interaction scene? My wishful thinking says that will be great! ^^
And, if this title follows traditional Arakawa-style "double meaning" chapter title naming, then my another wild guess is that this might also refer to Al and Hohenheim at some point in this chapter, as Al is also a soul bound to the metal housing, and he is experiencing the reunion with his father.

I think chapter 82 is called Family of Souls.

Actually, those pants (and overall top?) don't look like Winry's to me. Of course, Winry has hers rolled up at the bottom; Ed could wear them loosely. xD

But I can't wait for the chapter, though! I don't really think the image has anything to do with what will happen, but you never know. I mean, Al is in the background; maybe a reunion of the gang and Ed will occur.

Oooh, that'd be so nice, wouldn't it Alchemical? Where is Ed at the moment though, I wonder? I wonder if he's far off from Winry, Al and the others. They never really did specify where he is in the previous chapter, did they? We just know he's been recovering in the hospital. Hmmm...

But I can't wait to see the reunion between them! >.< Especially Ed and Winry

Thank you so much for the link to the preview image! I'm so excited, I even dreamed about the new chapter last night! (I'm such a dork, I know... ).

Ed looks awesome in "Winry's" clothes. Where did he get those shoes, I wonder? They look spiffy. And Den looks adorable, as always. It's great to see her again, her presence really brings back the feel of the old chapters. (Den is female, right?).

I hope Ed sees Al and Winry again in this chapter! It feels like it's been forever since the trio has been together!

I definitely had to take a second, much harder look (I just glanced at it at first) to make sure that that was indeed Ed! Not saying he's androgynous or anything, but I'm really tired, so that has to count for my lack of recognition.

And the ponytail look... I like it. It's a bit more mature, in my opinion, although it tangles more easily than a braid does. Maybe Ed should consider wearing a bun. (No, I don't really think that.)

Ah, and pointing this after what Alchemical said- Ed seems to be on par with (if not taller than) Winry in the Briggs chapters, unless Arakawa is giving him mega-elevator shoes. I mean, it never said that he stopped growing, so it's plausible that it could just be stunted, and now that he's used to his automail, he's growing. I dunno, though, and I should probably go theorize somewhere else.

Anyway, this looks like it's going to be a great chapter, as always. I can't wait!

I agree with spoonyalchemist; I think Arakawa is going to use a ponytail for his hair more often, if not always, now. ^^

I also agree with jacksparrow589 on Ed's height. I mean, he really has grown, and Arakawa hasn't been drawing attention to his height for the past few chapters. Me thinks we need a new official height chart!

Small stone wall, Den, Winry's clothing, Al....they headed back to Rizembol perhaps? Or is it just a 'they have a home' image again?

Either way, its still in Ed's 'healing period' by the look of it, though I don't believe that'll get him off the hook for running off with Winry's clothing (lets hope he didn't go as far as the underwear). Though I suppose it could be wounds from the broters scrapping like they used to...

Chapter 82: "Soul Family" (temporary chapter title till I read the actual raw ^^)

Caption: Ed is back!! With full of actions!!
Ed and his gang run from Central Army's soldiers, and Ed is back in full action mode.
He acts as if he is a hostage to make the soldiers hesitate to shoot them. He highjacks a car, then transmute it to change the appearance. In the car, while running away from the Army's pursuit, Ed ponders where Al might go if it were Al in this situation.

Meantime, Al is with Hohenheim. Hohenheim tells Al about his past, and the secret about his body being the Philosopher's Stone. Al: "My father was a slave, and he is a Philosopher's Stone?!!!!" Though the news is shocking, Al accepts it as it is not impossible to have the impossible, as Al himself is the product of unusual circumstances. Both having unusual bodies, they understand each other.

Al wonders about Ed's and Al's "human-ness," born as sons of someone who is a living Philosopher's Stone, but being assured by Hohenheim that although the decomposition & reconstruction have fused Hohenheim with Philosopher's Stone, but the core is still Hohenheim, a pure human.
Hohenheim adds that, on the other hand, "Father" is a non-human thing in a 'leathery pouch' that happen to be in the shape of Hohenheim.

Al shows Hohenheim the diagrams of the Country-wide Translmutation Circle, and the Reverse Transmutatin Circle, and suggests destroying the underground tunnel, but reminded by Hohenheim that Pride is there, and Al gives up the idea of destroying the tunnel.
Al is worried that the tunnel can be completed soon, and he is in a rush to do something to prevent it. Hohenheim tells Al, "The tunnel may already have been completed. But 'the day' is not upon us yet."
He continues: "Stop keeping eyes on the underground tunnel. Look up, and you may see more. That one is waiting for the arrival of 'the day'."


The scene changes to the Central underground.
Greed/Ling attacks an intruder, Bido. Bido tells Greed/Ling about the former Greed, and GreedLing vaguely recalls some of the memories from former Greed.
But, when Bido tells Greed/Ling that he was former Greed's company, Greed/Ling says that he doesn't know Bido, and kills Bido. (note: NOOOOOOOO!!!! O_o)

But then, right after killing Bido the memory of his companions at the Devil's Nest passes through his head. He is troubled. Ling, from inside Greed, questions Greed's action about killing his former company. Greed: "He is not my company!! The memory of him is that of the former Greed, and not mine!! I have forgotten and left behind all my past!!" To that, Ling shouts back: "No way you can forget and leave behind your past. Your comrades are people you are being connected with in the soul level. Your soul is imbrued with their memory within. You can't wash them off like that. Yet, you cut-off your 'soul family,' killed him on your own hands! And, you claim to be 'Greed' who wants to own everything?!"
Holding Bido's lifeless body, Greed screams.

The Führer's residence. Führer, his wife, and Selim are relaxing at home.
Suddenly, Greed bursts in and attacks Wrath.
Greed: "The memory of my former self hasn't disappeared. The memory of people falling down, the ones who were supposedly my companies." While attacking Wrath Greed continues, "And, why is King Bladley in that scene?"
Wrath counters, "Greed, the one who can't let go of anything, even the past memory!! Fool!!" and he combats back. They fight as Selim watches them.
The fight goes on. Even during the fight, more memories of former Greed come back to GreedLing. GreedLing runs off from the Führer's residence.
As the fight ends, the Pride's black "hands" appear underneath Selim who were watching the fight with the stern expression, and disappear into the floor.

Somewhere in the suburb of Central City.
This is Mustang's safe house, the one once used when Ed and the company caught Gluttony, and brought Gluttony to.
Ed arrives, thinking that nobody would probably suspect that Ed and others would be here again, and if he were Al he would probably show up here also. But, Al is not in the house, and no evidence of Al having stopped by.

Then, GreedLing appears, and collapses to the ground. Ed asks him whether he's Greed, or Ling.
Answers Ling, "I'm starved. I didn't expect that I could see my friend again in this place."

Caption: "Ed meets Ling again, and of course the scene is Ling starving on the ground again."

I have to say that I am really anticipating the arrival of this chapter; from the translation is seems a great deal deeper and more philosophical than last chapter. I am glad to see that Ed is all riled up and back in action, and that the discussion between Hohenheim and Al is continuing. I wonder who Hohenheim is referring to when he says: That one is waiting for the arrival of 'the day'. (I wonder if he is referencing Father, Pride, or even Truth.) Greed's return shall be thoroughly fascinating to see play out. I really wasn't expecting Bido to be murdered though. I can not wait to see Ling "combat" with the "old" Greed and actually fight against Wrath. It looks like a really promising chapter.

LING! LING! I've been wanting to see the original Ling for so long! LIIIINNNGGG! T__T

Aw, I'm a bit disappointed about Ed and Al being fully human... I guess the reason Ed heals so quickly is just a loophole, then. Ah well, this looks like it's going to be a great chapter overall, so I'm not gonna complain. B-but Bido...! How could Bido die? I loved Bido!

Hm... I always thought Selim housed Pride, and that the Selim we know exists because Selim and Pride interact with each other. In other words, I think Selim+Pride is like Ling+Greed, except the Selim-self is passive and completely controlled by Pride. When Pride wants to pass as human, he uses Selim. When he's making a point and being himself, he uses crazy-font. XD

Re: the whole Selim vs. Pride issue

At this point, I'm more with the "puppet Selim" theory, though, since Pride has been around for a while, it makes sense (to me, at least) that if Pride has coexisted with humans for a such a long time, he knows how they act. Envy could pull off most people pretty convincingly after tailing them, I'm sure, so, if Selim is truly a human puppet, his human side could be completely dormant while Pride is running the show. This also plays on the other homunculi not being able to act "normal", because they aren't around them as much and aren't used to it. And they believe that they're so much better than humans, but then they would want even less association.

I'm sure that we can get some insight into this whole issue by looking at facial expressions and such. For instance, Selim seems pretty with it most of the time, so, the way I see it, either Pride is an excellent actor, or Pride knows when to be dormant and let the little kid take over. (Ohhh... scary bit for Pride if he wants to be in control!)

Hmmm no raw yet? Wasn't it supposed to come out today?

The RAW was brought to us on the thirteenth last month. Maybe it's going to be a repeat this month. I hope we don't have to wait like we did in December (I think it was December...)

Ed probably doesn't have a license. Although if he does get pulled over, I wouldn't expect him to be all compliant with the officer who pulled him over. But I also am looking forward to seeing Ed drive. Or acting the hostage. Or meeting Lin. Either way, as long as he's in the chapter, and alive, I'm looking forward to it.

I hope the RAWs come out soon ... I'm leaving on my school trip in 20 hours and I won't have internet capability for five days -- can't wait that long for my hagaren!

Speaking of licenses, has Arakawa said how old he is now? The last time she mentioned his age (as far as I can remember, anyways) was on the train with Ling and the others, and Winry said he'd be sixteen soon. I wonder if he has turned yet.

I think Arakawa-sensei said Ed would turn 16 in winter. Well, it's kind of winter, now. I'm kinda hoping he meets up with Winry and Al on his birthday, though. Something special. ^^

Ed 'dissapeared' after chapter 77 but Al hasn't seen him since 76, I believe. So we missed Ed for four chapters but Al hasn't seen him for six, like you said.

XD speaking of Roy .... How long has he been missing I mean like how many chapters have we not seen him?

But yea lol I hope Ed meets up with the gang for his bday, that's if his bday hasnt gone yet. Hmmmm I wonder how Ed would react when he sees his father again XD Cant wait to see when that happens lol kinda makes me laugh when i think about it. lol aneway back to serious mode lol. I hope Ed and Al meet up again before Al's body starts calling or pulling his soul again. That got me really scared when Al fainted like that. Arakawa said the next time Ed will meet Hoho he'll surely punch him in the face xD The only question is whether he'll 'do it with the left, so he can feel the pleasure of punching him, or with the right so he can hit harder'... Poor Hoho, you could have at least written home once in a while....

WieS Blitz, I think you may be on to something. Knowing about Greed before he showed up would certainly shed some light on the homunculi. Maybe not the stuff I'm burning to know, but I think I'll live.

I also hope there's an Ed's-birthday reunion. On the other hand, I can totally see Ed realizing that it's his birthday and going, "Why am I spending my birthday saving the world? Can't the stupid (probably not his choice word, but oh well) homunculi just stop for a day? Sheesh..."

Either way, I'm just glad we get to see Ed back in action!
