Hey!

I watched the entire series, and movie a few years ago, within a day! and without knowing anything about it, initially i was astounded at how emotional an anime could be more so than most films, and i thoroughly enjoyed it. Then left it for a bit, recently i found the need to find out more about the series (hence my posts on this forum) and im nearing the end of my second viewing of the series.

Is the manga really different? how long is it? when did it end?

This is were you guys can come it, can you give me some advice about whether or not i should bother reading the manga, at the end of the movie is that really how it was intended to end???? This forum is really intimidating there are so many posts, and threads so i thought it would be best just to make my own.

I more interested in the Movie though, it seemed so disjointed to the series (apart from the end i guess), is there more to the story than this?

FMA manga has very very VERY different storyline from FMA anme, and is still on-going.
You can read more about FMA manga-anime difference on FMA manga-anime difference thread. It is in FMA manga forum. After reading the thread, if you get more questions, you can post it on the above thread, and we can answer it for your there.
And, I'm a big FMA manga fan, so, naturally, I recommend reading FMA manga.
IMO it has better story, and much more interesting. Currently, it's on chapter 81. We follow it closely, and each month we discuss about the new chapter here as it comes out. You can read it on-line, by clicking on Manga on the left side menu of this page. Check it out yourself.

And, BTW,This is not a good idea, and not recommended on our board. Better way is to check around the forums, or use search function, and see if what you are looking for is already posted somewhere in the forums. Most of the time, that turns out to be the case.
