I wasn't sure if this was already a thread or not...looked, but didn't see anything...
Anyways!
Manga has a lot of publishers these days.
Most notable are:
TokyoPOP
VIZ
But there are others out there too.
Sometimes I find that I have a preference for which publishers I buy.
TokyoPOP has been great, but lately their new manga doesn't have the same quality it used to.
VIZ has a lot of Shonen Jump manga, which is great, but there's not much variation.
Some up and coming companies that I thoroughly enjoy have been Go!Comi, CMX, and Yen Press.
Darkhorse (The publisher of the Trigun manga and others) have published a few, and they're pretty good.
Maybe it doesn't matter to you, but I suppose it matters to me xD
Who do you prefer?

Viz and DelRey. Hands down.
TokyoPop mangas just bug me for some reason; they just don't have that Japanese feel to them, I guess.
But even the Viz translations get on my nerves (LanFan instead of RanFan

)

I don't care about the Publisher as long as the manga in question is good and they're better than/on par with scanlations of the series.
DarkHorse does Berserk and Blade of the Immortal so they're winning some bad [All hail lord Xenu] points there.

I like Del Rey. They don't edit in those flashy Americanized SFX like Viz do, and everything is explained with the nice little translation notes section in the back. ^^ But I'm not really interested in most of their series. Mostly just Tsubasa, xxxHolic and Negima.
Viz, on the other hand, publish most of the titles I like, but their translations are really shoddy sometimes, and they make some pretty stupid mistakes. >_>

I KNEW I was forgetting Del Rey. I like a lot of their manga. Funny thing is I don't read the mainstream stuff (Tsubasa RC, xxxHolic, Negima)
I have Legal Drug...♥

^Viz (or at least the English translation of FMA) actually does have rather shoddy editing work. One of my manga has either missing letters, ever-changing spellings of names or switched text panels.
Though I have to admit, Viz publishes most of my favourite stuff.

The recently released volume was pretty bad. Perhaps it's an issue with printing. The place and character names that go through spelling changes every other issue really irks me the most.
I, too, do not care which publisher a series belongs to, as long as it's worth reading. Although I do sometimes want to cry when I have to fork over more cash for DelRey and Dark Horse series. And SJ prices are a sweeter deal...

I'd have to say VIZ. Even though they do mess up on some of the translations, they publish a lot of my favorite manga.
