So, about the chapter...
I agree with others. This chapter feels like good old-fashion FMA chapter.

I love Scar-Mei interaction, leading to Mei making the decision to leave and then bow and thank everyone... sniff sniff!! That's a very emotional moment!
And, I agree with His Name is Unknown. Scar is great in this scene!

And then the cute Al-Mei Valentine's Day special scenes!! I love it!!

Also, Armstrong and Armstrong. Such a contrast between them!! XDD

Interesting conversation between Bradley and Riza... with Bradley rare showing personal moment.

I was worried at first that the pace would suck as bad as it did in 79, but it had a lot at the same time it was paced very well.

And the pace of the manga speeds up!
Finally the reason for the HT being forbidden is revealed- I did not expect the huge quantity of body count, though.
And Al, Winry and Hoho meet in Lior, too, at the end. One of the most interesting chapters of FMA, in my opinion

They should really make a Gaiden with Bradley's first date with his wife that would be awesome.

That probably just shows that Bradley still retains a lot of "human" quality in him...

This was a really great chapter, but I'm really really starting to miss Ed a lot. I really hope he's alright...FMA just isn't the same without him, though it's great to see Winry! I loved AlMei and EdWin in this chapter. That was just purely awesome <3 I can't believe we have to wait yet another month to find out if he's okay or not. Anyway, that bit about Bradley and his wife was rather surprising, indeed. Very anxious for the next chapter! I'm wondering how Papa Hoho is going to react to Al in this and if he'll realize who he is?

i just read chapter 80 on onemanga.com and the end is freaky but we didn't see ed so that was a bummer
my theore is that that army was made by homonculus and that if riza gets close enough to the furer she can use her fathers methods (which are on her back btw) and if ed uses it then he can figure out the secret behind the turn about circle and get al's body back plus at the same time destroy the homunculi army but with envy back in the picture (because may went to central) its goin to be a little tougher than excpected...at least they know how to destroy him still

Back on topic: I liked this chapter. It really had the somewhat whimsical feel that the manga had back in the early chapters.

I also have a few theories as to what's going to happen next, but I'm going to have to organize them before writing them out.

Back on subject: I have finally fleshed out my theory.

I think Envy is going to take Riza as a host.

Why? Because Roy and Riza are in Central, where Envy is heading. Roy needs vengence of Envy for killing Hughes, but simply GIVING Roy Envy would be too easy.

Also, there has to be a reason why Arakawa made Envy a body snatcher. The short Yoki body-theft incident in Chapter 80 plainly illustrated Envy's capabilities, but was an unimportant incident in itself.

That's an interesting theory, WeiS Blitz, I wouldn't have thought of that if you hadn't mentioned it. But now that I think of it, that is a plausible theory; Arakawa usually makes even the smallest details matter. Now, the thing to ponder now is that if Envy doesn't snatch Riza's body, who else would it posses? Or if Envy somehow gets ahold of another stone, what'll it do after regaining its body?

This chapter did have the "whimsical" feel of earlier chapters, I agree--that was very nice. And now AruMei is completely undeniable, but I can't help but think it feels so WEIRD to finally have in-your-face romance in FMA. We've gotten used to subtle hints and dialogue between-the-lines, but now.. xD

I miss Ed and he's that part that makes FMA what it is, but the chapters have been doing nicely without him. Even still, I'm looking foward to having more word about him next month.

WeiS Blitz, I'm liking the theory that Envy is going to take a host. Arakawa does drop subtle notes, and that's a good idea. I don't think its going to be Riza, though. FatherDude and the homonculi already have plans for her, and none of those include Envy as far as it seems (I'm thinking they include Selim and Wrath)


I feel the same way. Sometimes, because things were so subtle, i let people convince me that i was seeing something that wasn't there. Now that romance is becoming so blunt in FMA, i know for sure that what i'm seeing it what arakawa intends me to.

I have a feeling it's going to be Mei (she's envious of the princesses of other, more powerful clans, just as Ling was greedy for power) or one of Mustang's crew. The only crew members that are in Central are Riza and, I think, Havoc.

If Envy takes Mei, he gains Rentanjutsu.

If Envy takes Riza, it'd lead to a huge fight. Roy wouldn't kill Riza, but Envy would have no qualms about killing Roy. Same goes for if Envy took Havoc (maybe even healing him in the process). Then I have a feeling that the hosts' loyalty would override Envy's control.

Heck, Envy could even take Roy. Riza wouldn't be able to fight him due to love, but I think Havoc would end up saving the day.


Then there's a whole 'nother issue. What if Envy gets back to Father? Father hasn't shown too much sympathy for his pawns, and not only has Envy promised Ed info in the past, but he's also bringing a dangerous alchemist into their base. There's a 50/50 chance of Father fixing Envy, or of Father killing him himself.

This really doesn't look good for our favorite sociopathic palmtree...

Don't know if this has come up in discussions or what not, but is the reason they need a new stone because they need to put some sort of artificial life in those bodies?

Cuz if so, what are they planning on doing with the army afterwards? There'd be no country left to protect. *cringes at thought*

I think they would use the army to take over the world. Xing, Creta, Drachma...

the theory of taking riza or havoc seems logic, but then, theres also the oportunity for others chracters to be taken?...I can imagine Ed being controled by Envy,than Ed trying to oppose and all that...

Izumi could be an option?she`s in a relative weak state so it wont be hard for envy to do it.

My biggest wonder is, though, whether or not Envy will get to 'keep' whichever host he takes.

I think he'll end up dead by the end. Arakawa had Father make a new Greed, and resurrect Gluttony. It seem unlikely that she'll do that a 3rd time.

Why do think if going to get him in the end?

this might sounds weird but from what I know about the chapter I actually guessed an event that would happen before it did O.o. But anyway I theories the reborn!Gluttony is going to eat him or be taken over by him(Envy).

Why do I think this? Well up to now the punishments have been pretty exact. So if Envy wants a PS he made try to use the one from one of his siblings instead of bouncing over to father for a new one. Then maybe afterwards someone will pwn Gluttony with ice. Thus Gluttony would die from a "vermin" related death and Envy would die from being encased in ice. that would make killing both off the series easy for Arakawa.

Also does anyone know where I could read this chapter online? my computer is not so good so downloading it from a zipped folder or something like that isn't an option.

I never thought of that because I've prevented myself from even imaging him dying, but now that you mention it, that could be possible, no matter how depressing it is.

Does anyone think that there is going to be another Hohenheim and Edward confrontation in the next chapter?

I am just hoping cuase Ed is suppose to show up in the next chapter and I feel like the story is going to continue to focus on Al's party in Lior.

This was a great chapter, I've read it so many times.

As for chapter 79, I just read it once and that was kindof enough for me.

I think there might be an Al-Hohenheim confrontation. But Al is generally too nice to get in an argument with him. Maybe Winry will take a whack at him.

I'm curious to find out what doctor Ed will find to fix him up. I was speculating that his Dad would be the one to fix him, but I don't think Ed will be in Lior in the next chapter.

I was wondering about that aswell. It could be the creepy doctors at central, the ones who healed Kimberly. I really dont know where ed could possibly be. I was hoping that it was Lior just so he can be back with Al.

I would like to see him in Lior as well. I just looked at the final page in Chapter 80 again. I'm starting to think that pot Hohenheim is holding will end up on his head somehow.

You just planted a really bizarre image in my head. Now I have this mental image of Hohenheim going around like "Johnny Appleseed", but instead of planting apple-seeds in the ground he would be "planting" the souls of the people of Xerxes like he did in one of the previous chapters. (I kind of want to see an omake of that now...)
