The thing with PSP games (as I've come to realize constantly) is that in stills, the artwork always seems to look terrible (an example that comes to mind, Gran Turismo for the PSP) but when in motion is when the games shine the most.

I'm not saying that the graphics don't look totally up to par to some of the other games on the system, but at the same time, I think they're serviceable for what the game is - an action-adventure game.

Honestly, if it were left up to me, I'd have gone with a 2D sidescroller like Streets of Rage or of the like.

For those of you who are using custom firmware on the PSP, you may notice that FMA has a custom firmware security check. So even if your ISO is patched, you still won't be able to play the game unless you have a legit copy.

Oh yeah I almost forgot... it's meant to be out already.

And what do you mean by that? As in, the game runs on a newer firmware? Or its got something built in to see if your PSP is modded?

Apparently it brings up a caution window at the start screen. I havent tried it yet but I downloaded it incase theres a way to solve it later with new firmware or something. I havent come across a game with a CFW security block out thing. Damn them Japanese.

Oh, if they're low on energy their clothes/attire/body gets all torn or wounded up. Interesting. And I like the diversion of arcs and the custom clothes. (all hail Ed with winter coat)

Picked up my copy at Japan Video Games this past Friday while in LA. Just started, but seems like fun and I'll probably re-config some of the attack buttons

I really want this game, and I have the means of getting it, but...I don`t own a PSP. ;_; I really don`t want to purchase one with this game being the sole reason why. (I`m not interested in any other of the games offered for the PSP)
Based on what people say about this game, I may just get it anyway and borrow my friend`s PSP forever. So those who plan on/are playing it, a review would be highly appreciated. c:

Took me 2 evenings to figure out how to make the darn game work on my *COUGH* PSP.

Now I'm playing against Izumi... 5 loses and counting lol. Sensei wa kowai yo........ OTL

PS. Too much wt* with Ed's custom costumes. Yellow jacket and pink shirt? DO NOT WANT. I would love to take photos to show you guys but in the process of making the game work, I kinda trashed the PSP memory card so the only one left working is the one I had for my camera... so my camera is cardless right now. OTL I'll post screencaps once I figure out how to do it on the PSP.

Edit: This game (for Ed's story mode anyway... I didn't finish Al's story mode yet) ends at a rather awkward point. =_=; Real!Envy is your final boss here. Which means... this game ends at some point in episode 26, right when Ed decides to open the door by transmuting himself. No you don't get to meet human!Al. Boooooo. So Ed comes back out at where he and Lin were swallowed by Gluttony (instead of at the whereabouts of Father), and Ed and Al's journey continues................ [Roy and Riza's story mode unlocked.]

It seems you can unlock a total of 14 characters so you can play through the game that many times if you wish... (The 14 characters should be: Ed, Al, Roy, Riza, Armstrong, Izumi, Lin, Ranfun, Scar, Mei, Lust, Gluttony, Envy, and King Bradley. Will confirm when I actually got them all unlocked.)

So all you do in this game is... you fight bosses every stage >_>; The bosses are the above listed characters + Greed. The game involves NO strategy other than button smashing. So anyone would be able to play through this game w/ zero understanding of Japanese, as long as you know how to button smash lol. Game difficulty isn't high... if you got stuck at Izumi like me, simply level up Ed and Al by fighting previous stages... and then go fight Izumi again lol. They sped through the story so it kinda stucks. When you go into a stage, the chosen character (ie, Ed in Ed's story mode) will give you a brief summary of what's happening in that chapter, and then you go straight into battle lol. The game only has voice acting when the chosen character tells you the brief summary.

If you really wanted to know, it took me 4 hours to finish Ed's story mode + half of Al's story mode. It's kinda nice that they got new BGM for the game. Graphic looks better than the online preview. Though they need to work on the sprite of the characters more... during the last stage when Ed was talking to Envy with a serious face, Lin still has this face which cracked me up lol. Ed still has Al as his fighting partner while inside Gluttony. XD; (the fighting partners can be changed after you finished the character's story. ie, for Ed's story you could only use Al throughout, but once you finished it, you can go back to the story and use a different partner)



The 3 PS2 games are still the best FMA games I have ever played.

Well, the game is hacked and there is a cheat code that bypasses the security check. I'm playing the game right now and to be honest, I'm a little frustrated at the fact that I can't use the analog stick to control where Ed moves. Its d-pad only for this game.

And Izumi Curtis sure can bring alot of damage.

There is a screencap plugin that you can get for your PSP. I figured out how to make it work (hard to explain so google it yourself) and I took like 100+ screencaps already xD; Will organize them over the weekend and post here.

I finally finished story mode for all 14 characters. But I didn't unlock all their clothings yet... Even with Al at level 72, he still has 3 more clothing styles to be unlocked =_= (Yet Gluttony at level 43 only has one left) Don't have the patience for unlocking them now. Maybe later... I screencapped the clothings I unlocked.

Finally got Al to level 100 and unlocked chibi-Al with normal colour... (Pink/Green/Yellow chibi Al is so f**king ugly)

Level 100 is the highest you can get. Al will not level up further.

Try searching under "Hagane no Renkinjutsushi" and you'll find it there.

Europe!?! We-we never get the FMA games here! Bandai I love you. As if I didn't already for the digimon world game.
(I'm hoping this includes England and we did get the DS game but that was kind of bad so I'll pretend it never happened)

Apparently the Europe release is out today! Seems to be incredibly hard to find though, I could find only like 2 or 3 online stores that are selling it in Finland.

But I just ordered the game, hopefully it arrives to me by next week. I'm not a huge fan of button-smash fighting (And personally, I would have preferred the "Promised Day" one over this anyday), but.. it's a REAL win in a lottery for Europe to get something like this! Time to enjoy
