Unfortunately I have changed my primary language from The Games Factory to AppleScript (using XCode) which only works on OS X and have decided to cancel all projects made in The Games Factory.
This however does not mean that all of the source has to be put to waste. I will be posting it up here (shortly) so anyone with The Games Factory can continue my work. I may over the summer holidays do some more work on it but it will no longer be a primary project of mine.
I'm sorry to everyone who wanted to see this project come to fruition but sometimes these things happen.
Any of my ideas I have come up with e.g. drawing your own transmutation circles, I welcome for other gamers to include in their games.

I'm not good with the game making stuff and I can't help you, but I love the idea!!
Good luck with the game making!!

Thanks. Ill post up what I've got at the moment but I've only been working on it for about 2 days now.
(note, drawing the circles are incredibly easy as it's just point and click.)
It currently has no game RPG style elements as I have no sprites (and I suck at making them) so it just has generic background #4!

This looks really cool!
I'm currently working on another game, so I won't be able to help with spriting and suchlike, but I wish you all the best for your project!

OK, here's the alpha version for people to try out.
Basically how it works at the moment is that you can draw two equations onto the circle with a maximum of 7 lines for each. It's a surprisingly easy way of drawing them too. Unfortunately I only have a vague idea how do the recognition system so it will be very rigid during the first few versions. Don't worry either, I've put in a rudimentary help to introduce you making alchemy.
Please post in if anyone has any problems with the program too, all feedback is good feedback.
Thanks everyone who's taken an interest so far!

I am going to try my hardest to help. I just found out so if there is anything I can do that I can do I will. I am not a computer whiz so I do good with storylines and give ideas like that.

I downloaded the game and I so far think it is going well. It needs alot of work but I like the idea and I will do as much as I can. I will see if I can get a couple of my friends to help me do the stuff I can not do. Because I have one friend is a computer whiz but not into this show but he said he will help me with as much as he can.
ETA: Feb 18
I have looking for two days and have not found anything so I am still looking though.
<Merged double posts (two consecutive posting) into one. Please avoid double posting in the future, (even in the case when there are some time between the two posts.) It's a no-no on our board. ^^ 02/18/07 ~Tombow>

Hmm, since I wrote it in The Games Factory, I've found it to be one of the most compatible languages there is. Please can you describe what you mean when you say you can't open it.
If it helps, I can post it up as separate files and not as a zip file.
@MaesHughesForever1020, thank you for your offer and I hope we can help make this game really good.
If you have any ideas for storylines please let me know.
I haven't been working on it recently (college work) but remember, the alpha version above was made after 2 days deciding to start this project so don't expect the final game to be anything like that empty.

As I've found out, a few people have trouble opening my zip files because I use a strange zip program which means some people can't open them.
Here is an updated alpha version (exactly the same build as was made available earlier) except zipped up using a standard zip program.
Please note, this version does not have any new features over the previous version I posted up so please don't download it thinking it is the new alpha version.
On another note, this game is currently suspended due to work on other projects. It shall be resumed shortly (hopefully) as college starts again meaning I have less free time to work on multiple projects. Please keep posting up ideas etc so that when it is resumed, I shall be able to gather them all together and work on it.
ETA Project resume date : PENDING.

!
if you can please fix the ZIP file I would love it

Hey
Fen Zero, welcome to the boards

In case you haven't noticed, the project has been cancelled by the owner due to a lack of interest.
Pity..I wanted to see how it looked like xDOh, and drop by in the
Newcomer's Thread sometime and introduce yourself! Hope to see you there sometime soon!

I have tried each of these zip files (downloading from the internet etc) and they all seem to work here. Can people please tell me what goes wrong (plus any errors received) and I hope I will be able to sort this problem so everyone can enjoy this alpha version who wants to.
On another note:
I'm perhaps thinking of restarting the project BUT only after my AS levels. Anyone with any ideas please post them up and if I do see that there is an actual interest then I shall consider continuing the game.

what program are you using to create these zip files?
I get an "Unexpected end of archive error"
here's the CRC for the file

I use WinZip Pro 11.
This is really strange, I've used two completely separate programs yet people seem to get errors with both. I shall post up the file zipped in two programs, the first (Alchemical.zip) is done in 7zip. The 2nd (AlchemicalWin.zip) is done in WinZip.
I wonder why some find it doesn't seem to work. Hmm, strange.

just downloaded both zip and there were no problems with the zip files this time. Both extracted without any errors.
look at the size of the file you uploaded the first time (~548 K) and the more recent attempt (~1 M)
so probably there was an incomplete upload on your earlier post.

Well if they both work now then that's excellent.
Yea, it was probably an incomplete upload on my part, sorry about that folks!

omg!

this first version of the game looks awesome! .. I know it has no RPG elements but it looks incredible yet! ...
Only one suggestion: while drawing the circle I wasnīt able to do MY transmutation circle because drawing lines from other points that arenīt the center and the perimeter isnīt allowed. So I thought that maybe this option could be more flexible, something like the PAINT lines!
Good Luckk!

Wow thanks, it means a lot to me that you appreciate it.
In response to your question, due to the restrictions of the engine it's not possible to draw wherever you want but I will put in more points later (not just the perimeter) but thats something else.
These restrictions are also there to make circle recognition easier (still going to be pretty hard though).
